The translation is fine. Sometimes a sentence is stated, and then the exact same thing is said in a different way, but that's just part of the narration.

Overall, it's a generic story with a generic protagonist in a magic academy, who is part of an evil organization but wants (and is unable) to leave it. The most notable aspect, I think, is the executives of Black Night, their powers, and their designs.

There's nothing that sets the protagonist apart from those in other stories - he has no interests, likes, or... more>> dislikes, nor any real backstory (it's only mentioned that he was a player of an RPG that was recently updated). He also has no interesting decisions or goals. He's just... average. So far, he's simply being dragged along by the current (Jiaron's plans and his subordinates' schemes), managing to stay afloat and nothing more, while also being unilaterally adored.

On the other hand, his character, Jian, is the final boss's son, created to be his vessel (his body is practically just bones at this point). He has talent in everything, but aside from slight endurance, he doesn't seem to have trained in anything.

Spoiler

A comment suggested that he's a chimera, being a mix of two or more races (the only background information given), which is very likely.

Lastly, aside from a few characters, all the important ones are female and have a strong interest in the protagonist

Which, along with his slightly witty personality, his obliviousness to romance, and his immense talent, screams harem.

Spoiler
  • His executive constantly hugs him and tries to charm him. She also mentions how "cute and fresh" his new appearance is.
  • He followed and then saved two girls, then something happened, leading to a misunderstanding, and both of them clearly said, "I understand/know your feelings, but I can't accept them. I am a princess/I want to dedicate myself to my career as a mage." The mage elaborated more, but he still said - or thought - "I don't understand what you're talking about." Both of them blushed and left.
  • The dean appeared for the first time - who is also a woman - and almost immediately hugged and adored the protagonist, practically kissing him by pressing herself against his face.
[collapse]

In summary, it's just starting, it's another trope-heavy novel with nothing new, and so far, it doesn't have any major issues. <<less

As of writing this review, the story is well written and quite logical. Yes, the story has a lot of misunderstanding but it is the good kind, the one where the MC is actually weak/average but everyone thinks he's all powerful and intelligent. The MC is not dense/ignorant and actually understand and uses the misunderstanding to elevate himself. He has a bunch of dangerous villain underlings that constantly doubt and keep him in check by using their abilities but MC has luck on their side.

This review was made as of... more>> chapter 23, and its still to early to give a clearer opinion, but personally, it is a pretty good novel. <<less
