Short, sweet and simple~ it's a very very light 'wife-chasing crematorium' story where I also wanna whack the ML whenever he opened his venomous-tongued mouth.. he's lucky FL loves him~

FL is strong and she strives her best for her career. She becomes a bit hesitant when it comes to the ML, but also prideful and stubborn when she feels that she will be abandoned by the ML. I like her resolute act of distancing herself from the ML during that time.

After ML confesses his feeling, FL also took her time accepting. She did not rush into the relationship just from the confession. ML waiting patiently and had to chase his wife was the 'wife-chasing crematorium' plot..

But I like how they both have firm and unyielding trust of each other, even when they're jeaolous.

I also really like the MIL-DIL relationship... they support each other well~

Okay!! I like it very much. The MC is no pushover and funny and the ML is though annoying, he's not a scum. More tsundere than anything else really

It wasn't till reading upto Chapter 25 and finding the story so odd that I realized that it was only a novella, with only 34 chapters and not a longer novel. No wonder the subplots and storylines in this novel is so disjointed and unsatisfactory.

It's the basic storyline of FL transmigrating into a novel with a contract marriage to the ML.

Pros:

    • FL is interesting. She's fiery, smart and fun to read about. She doesn't rely on the ML (much) and works hard to make a living for herself. Able to faceslap the antagonist but doesn't deal revenge to other matters.
    • ML is also not the standard cookie cutter ML with cold, indifferent eyes, etc. He's basically a pigtail puller like the other commenters mention. A poisonous mouth ML who loves to banter with the FL to get on her nerves but secretly likes her alot and helps her behind the scenes.
    • Their banter is fun, but I'd prefer if there were more doting scenes as sometimes the banter is TOO MUCH. As it's a short novel, it didn't transition nicely to the romance because they spent most of the novel bantering with each other with only a mild romance vibe.
Cons:

    • So many subplots but no proper resolution to them.
    • Such as the FL's bloodsucker family. They're mentioned in 1-2 chapters, FL goes to confront them, unsatisfactory faceslapping occurs whereby FL just scolds them and they then disappear from the story.
    • Terrible entertainment company and agent, FL just works hard on her own and shift companies. Their presence is like an annoying pest that she swats away. No faceslapping on her own terms. ML does do something to make the company go down.
    • Dumb antagonists... Chu Piaopiao, jealous actress and Zhou Bingyan, another envious woman who loves the ML... Mygod, dumb schemes and s*upid ideas. FL triumphing over them is like, not interesting because their vengeful plots are just too childish. Even the white moonlight is a dumb annoyance.
    • Second ML.... He appears to fall in love with FL wayyyy too quickly and even then his presence in this short novel is like, intermittent. He comes and says things like "Oh it's her..." with a wistful smile, and has a few minor interactions... And yet somehow author wants to push him for 2nd ML. His role is probably just to make the ML jealous. But when ML gets jealous, he says poisonous hurtful things in his usual tsundere style which doesn't deepen the relationship with FL anyway.
    • The wife chasing part is not unsatisfactory. They both like each other and yet refuse to admit it. They get insanely jealous over each other's potential suitors.. AND THEY DON'T TALK ABOUT IT. They both just get mad, passive agressive... And I'm like.... You can banter and argue so much but when it comes to the real deeptalk, y'all can't do it. Makes the reader (i.e. me) darn frustrated.
    • The timeline... At the start, they mention it's just a few months before the divorce. Suddenly she goes for several shoots that take a few months, and after every shoot, FL will say "oh just a few months before we divorce.." And I'm like.. WHEN IS THAT. Then at Chapter 27, they just celebrated New Year together and it's mentioned February is the end date. Suddenly in the next few chapters, it's APRIL and they're still together. Huh. There is no sense of urgency or angst honestly. When it finally happens, it's abrupt and we don't get a few chapters of them trying to deal with emotions.
If you can turn off your brain and enjoy a casual story, then this story is for you. I didn't like it because I was looking for an entertainment novel with an interesting FL and proper faceslapping. I also wanted a good wife-chasing crematorium novel and THIS DID NOT DELIVER. If I were looking for a short novel with lots of fun tropes, then maybe this story would've been it. I also didn't realize it was a short story with only 34 chapters so that's probably why author couldn't write each subplot properly.

Giving it a meh rating.

The constant push and pull between the leads was irritating. While this dynamic may captivate or even thrill some audiences, it didn’t work for me. The back-and-forth felt less like meaningful tension and more like unnecessary dramatics, which quickly became tiresome. Instead of drawing me into their story, the repetitive conflict pushed me further away.

For some, this type of interaction might add excitement or complexity to the characters, offering a kind of "will-they-won’t-they" intrigue that keeps viewers hooked. While I can appreciate why others might enjoy the drama and tension, I prefer stories where the emotional stakes feel real and the characters evolve organically. I could not muster the patience to finish even though I skimmed through a lot of the plot that annoyed me.

Everything was very abrupt and forced. Suddenly she and her mother-in-law are super close even though the OG was classless, insecure and easily provoked? She had already shown all that behavior before but the in-laws were nice out of guilt for using her to counter their son’s “bad fate” with her yang energy.

Their chemistry is lackluster and more reflective of two cats with their hair all bristled fighting over a... more>> meaningless tr*sh fish. The antagonists exist longer than necessary leaving little to be desired on their romantic progression.

The ML is all, oh she’s different now so it’s interesting. Though the 2nd ML only has maybe 20 lines of existence so far, I already like him so much more. I stopped knowing it wouldn’t be how I like and I felt that bit of chemistry would be scrapped for the sake of chasing wife plot. It doesn’t fit the characters. ML is the boss of a big entertainment company and yet doesn’t see all the underhanded tactics being used against the OGFL. I wish he got punished more but up to here they’re already in a push and pull which only feels like 2 kids on the playground bickering. Their conversations are funny but exhausting knowing that they’re going to be together. They’re better suited to be like brother and sister. The crux of anything is that he’s so attractive she can’t look away.

I just can’t stand the ML, the whole reason the OG was already in dire straights when FL transmigrates is because of ML’s suitor who is a childhood friend. His family sure paid a bunch to her family for the marriage and yet look down on her, not publicizing the marriage. Only her greedy family gets the benefits but she faces all the wrath. ML may not like her because of her attempting to seduce her but no matter what, it’s their family’s obligation to at least protect her if they’re going to use her. It’s so detestable. For people who supposedly run such a big business, they don’t do any due diligence to investigate who is causing her problems and limiting her opportunities. He’s just an a**hole at the end of the day.

I like FL’s character but it doesn’t make sense to me why she would be attracted to ML. Everything that pushes their relationship forward is just him protecting her unexpectedly, like a suspension bridge effect amplified by how gorgeous he is without depth into his personality at all. She breaks her strongwoman character around him which again does not track. It’s like she just turns into a kid around him when she’s not actually childish. Her interaction with 2nd ML is much more tantalizing and tacit. She can tell immediately read his emotions and he quietly tries to get to know her more.

I wish she called him out on his bullsh*t behavior towards the OGFL. It was his family trying to use her, she never actually pursued him until after their marriage. Yet, he leaves her to fend against his suitors and the public backlash. I’m the type who cannot support a grain of sand. Generally don’t like chasing wife to the crematorium stories but doesn’t mean there aren’t ones well done. If he had realized she’s totally not the same soul as the OG and liked her, maybe. However after making her suffer all that before and then chasing her without a sorry, it’s a no for me. Even if at this point he hasn’t fully recognized his feelings for her, it’s just plain s*upid. <<less

Career and love goes at the same time so I'm kinda satisfied. Their relationship started off prickly, but it's not really enemies to lover troupe though. More like they just have some prejudice against each other at first due. Later on, it was shown that the ML is kinda a tsundere then at the end, he became a lemon spirit lol.

Anyway, I like that the FL's focus on her career is strong. However, I kinda hate how she becomes naive and s*upid when it comes to the ML. She's cunning... more>> and smart when fighting those cannon fodders but when she's with the ML, she becomes childish. But I don't know, they say that when in love, you will become childish and a little s*upid to the one you love so maybe. Who knows. I just kinda don't like it a little.

Overall, it's a fast read which is kinda funny and a little lighthearted. It's a typical "transmigrated as the soon-to-be-ex-wife of the CEO in a story which focuses on the entertainment industry". There are quite a lot of similar stories out there so while I think this story is not bad, with comparisons, it's not that unique. Still, 7/10. <<less

Short, cute novel, an easy read to pass time. Love the characters and the plot, even though was a common plot, it was fun and interesting. The last chapters felt a little rushed but didn't affect the story. !

I like the story so far though I guess its the typical love drama.

i am sad to say I’m still outside the box, no clue when the OC and ML are falling in love (honestly that’s the good part, because stuff like love has a tendency to sneak up on you)

I’m not emotionally compromised? Or I’m not emotionally following along the story. I’m watching a good drama, but I’m not feeling it (might be my tastes? Idk) it’s a good story, don’t get me wrong, and a lot of... more>> drama, but to me it’s like I prefer a frappe compared to someone who enjoys pick black coffee strong with no sweetener.

I feel ML is a pigtail puller, really they get into verbal fights that he always seems to win (now that he has our FL’s number) which I can honestly say good for him cause she’s winning hers with the others.

but anyway I feel ML likes to tease FL to get reactions cause seriously every step he takes forward their seems to be a step back (how far the step is depends on his offense to FL)

though FL a has her flaws too, honestly the stuff ML let’s FL get away with left me speechless in the beginning... guess it’s his way to let her win? I’m not sure on those dynamics

im not even sure there is romance, it feels more like it’s attractiveness and interest that are keeping these two together (might get better in a bit I’m not sure but HEA might be hard for them since they both show traces of the green eyed monster at the smallest thing, sure they clarified... wellML did and I think FL brushed off ML’s concern... which was good??? Since not knowing was... is? The same as not cheating? Which really isn’t fair to the ML.

it was fine in the beginning but ML gives while the FL takes... though to be fair at this time she is still fully expecting the divorce and has both hardened her heart, but is also oblivious while heavily work and survival oriented. What is love? Can you eat it?

really that Z lady is obsessed with ML and keeps calling it love, I think FL doesn’t care and is more like ‘stop turning me into the villain, I’m just counter attacking to protect my face’ she even tell the film Emperor that she’s not here to fight, just act.

(Honestly you’d think the film emperor would value hard workers over his own family with connections. He does Eventually apologize and explain his reasoning but his cousin (?) doesn’t seem to be an ‘actress’ more like a pretty princess with connections and lots of strings to pull

4.5 stars! Funny, short and sweet. Binged within 2 days!

• Characters: I love the characters. Especially the main leads. Su Qian and Jin Lie's chemistry is so funny and adorable in the earlier chapters. They started off as enemies, to roommates, then friends and eventually falling for each other unconsciously.

The FL is perfect IMO. Among all the female leads I've read, I like Su Qian's personality and mentality the most. She has a good mix of IQ and EQ. As a top actress before transmigrating —she's smart, capable, career oriented... more>> and very secured/confident with herself and abilities. Unlike what other readers claim, she DOES NOT TURN 'naive, s*upid or childish' after falling for the ML. In the first place, she was already playful and childish (especially when they were bickering) even before she fell for him. And even when she did fell for him she's still very much independent and career-oriented. She's just not too hard-headed who denies her feelings like the other 'strong' female leads and still follows her heart. Following her happiness and prioritizing her feelings is NOT naive and s*upid. It makes the characters feel more human and realistic (people who don't get this probably never experienced falling in-love before but anyway). Since she already knew the plot, it's given that she was a bit dubious and reluctant to fall for the ML openly at first but she does accepts her feelings fairly quickly compared to other stone hard and annoyingly dense female leads. What I love the most about her is that she doesn't really care that much about her deviation from OG novel plot and she only uses the information from it to protect herself instead of worshiping and believing everything in it.

As for the ML, I adore him too! Yes, Jin Lie is your typical adonis cold domineering CEO but he's not a block of ice. He does have empathy and consideration for the people around him, he's just very very selective. Like the FL, he also has a sharp tongue and his bickering with her was always entertaining to read but he also knows when he's out of line and when to stop pushing her. It's pretty obvious he started caring for the FL pretty early but he's a tsundere so you have to look at his actions to understand him.

• Plot: It's a lightread so there's really not much about it. It's mostly about the usual villains oppressing her and her resources in the industry, old 'flames' trying to put a wedge on everything, internet gossips and trends, filming movies and endorsements, and their divorce agreement (in the latter chapters). It's not that exciting but it's also not boring. Kinda like a slice of life vibe but heavily leaning towards romance. Perfect for readers whose not in the mood for too much drama and intricate, heavy plots!

I'm pretty picky with my reads and I usually have like 20 filters on my series finder so I'm a bit bummed this doesn't much ratings. This is definitely a gem. It's also a quick read so I highly recommend it! <<less
