Being a Concubine Is Not Easy

My half-sister schemed to make me climb into the prince’s bed, causing me to become the concubine of the least favored prince, Prince Cheng.

It was only after I married into the household that I realized—Prince Cheng was a fool, the princess consort was also foolish, and the entire residence was nearly overrun with spies from other princes.

My vision went dark. How was I supposed to survive this mess?

Super cute story. Yes, too cute!

Spoiler

FL was schemed against and ended up married in as a concubine to a prince. The prince and princess consort are childhood sweethearts and deeply in love. They are also kind of foolish and unconventional at times.

FL doesn't want to be the third party and assumes the role of the couple's "guardian" and helps them out of various predicaments. In the end, they all live together in harmony.

I think the new emperor was interested in FL but she was smart enough to hold onto her current chillax life of raising the cute couple.

This story has no romance for the main female character. It is a perfect story about a found family/chosen family.

The main character was schemed at, as mentioned in the summary. She begins a new life with the Prince and his Princess Consort, becoming a sort-of third wheel. The three of them will join forces to fight the antagonists, find a way to survive and finally live happily ever after. It's such a great feel-good novel. And NO it does not end in a threesome. I won't spoil very much but... more>> it is a lovely story with lots of comedic moments and some faceslapping. <<less

I love this short story so much. Found family trope has always been my favorite and sometimes a perfect family is a Prince, his Princess Consort, their concubine (cause let’s be fair if MC is anyone’s concubine it’d be the Princess Consort’s), and a gaggle of adopted children.

This was a very enjoyable read. It also tells you a lot more about the characters when you read between the lines: look at what they do and think of how they're all still alive and well, and not what other people think of them/not what they project to others.

It had a lot of light, comedic moments perfectly balanced with some light revenge. I love that it did not end with a love story in a traditional male-female sense and instead ended with a found family.

This is so fun to read! A life of "a pair of chopsticks & a single bowl".

No dog blooded drama, so nice. There's trouble? Just deal with it. I loved their dull but not so dull life, actually they're also smart but not so smart either (ifykwim). I wish there were more. But it fine, it's perfect this way.

A strong family "none of whom were related by blood".
