Characters are very flat and boring. MC is an exorcist but her main characteristics are cute, lovable, greedy for food and money. While she is likeable, shes not very interesting. ML is a weapons expert somehow, at 25 years old. Despite being isolated by his "evil aura" at 15 years old he is super valuable to the country. Honestly I think he should be neurotic after being mentally, emotionally and physically isolated for so long. But his personality is also quite boring. this is so cute and I love the MC a lot but BOY do I want to read about the 79 year old man pro grandpa esports player SO BAD. old man putting on face masks, talking tr*sh, bragging about his grand daughter...

old man stealing grand daughter's gaming laptop!!! old man who chased his lil flower to the underworld!!!!! this old man is the goated side character and aggro puller. I love him so much. 100 stars for this weird old man

It was a very decent book. You know those books that has very good potential but tend to fails at some parts like the lack of plot consistency, character, or logic but still wad a decent read, this one was not one of those. Instead this book has a good potential and was indeed written justifingly by the author.

This book didn't give birth in to a Mary Sue MC but a powerful one. She's good at what she do but she has limitations and there are people who are powerful... more>> and more knowledgeable than her but she was still a genius. I like that part about her.

The characters was also good, there is a lack of s*upid cannon fodders and deranged love rivals. The ML is not the domineering one but a decent guy with a kind heart. You'll love a lot of the side characters.

The plot is consistent and was a good one. The story has a clear direction but was not rushed from the start. It has a good paced for introducing stuffs and prioritizing character development. The romance plot was also good.

I enjoyed reading this and it's a recommended to anyone. <<less

An MC that figures out they’re in love and goes for it is refreshing. The FL is quite straightforward and simple in her thinking, which can lead to her seeming childish but I think the author actually does avoid that trope largely and people confuse speaking out your wants and needs with being childish. Likely because we’re so used to seeing childish FL’s and also ones who overthink everything.

ML was really consistent in having a warm and noble nature and it was novel to see a ML not able to... more>> whoosh to the FL’s rescue due to the nature of his ailment. What would have made it even better is if ML wasn’t super rich and couldn’t send in proxies.

Grandfathers role was hilarious! What an unserious guy who knows how to live!

FL’s found family were kind of annoying, the mother is always crying with trembling legs, the father basically has no personality and the brother is the silent type. FL’s found families definitely suited her more. Their attitude at the end actually pissed me off,

with them acting angered and aggrieved at FL having a relationship. This is obviously on the author but the family is basically strangers and the FL is a person who has her own family in her grandfather, is independent in every way and is basically living with them because she’s nice and not because she has to, so showing them feeling unsupportive was off putting.

I’ve given this 4 stars but actually I’d take off half a star for the constant colourism.I know it’s a cultural thing, I’m also Asian so I get that but it was unneeded to have everyone point it out to her and have her own family not want to comply and call her by her preferred nickname, just because she was tanned and that’s not beautiful to them.

I’d also take a half star off for the brain dead side character who had nothing to do in her scenes but simp over a guy who doesn’t see her that way and to be nasty to FL. It was unnecessary to have a character behave that way and frustrating to have one of the few females characters present in meatier bits, be so petty.

I am also a little disconcerted by ML being a weapons inventor, when he

is suffering from suspected karmic retribution. As we find out later, it isn’t his but still LM has evil qi and his family and the daoists around him think making weapons would be the best thing for him? That would literally doom him further, as he can’t earn any merits, which he at that stage desperately needed.

I can't believe there aren't more reviews in here because this is just one of the best supernatural stories i've read so far.

Granted every chapter is quite long and I (who usually reads like a marathon) have to slowly read so I can properly imagine each scene, but still spending the first days of the year immersed in this story is truly not bad at all. So glad I found something that didn't bore me every few chapters; I love the slow and sweet romance as much as the supernatural... more>> elements. I figured this would make a good anime or live action, the author's mind is just so rich it made me wonder if she experienced things herself lol.

Characters you'd never hate (i love ChenYu and LouMing is the perfect ML, the parents and brother are adorable and Grandpa is hilarious). Plot perfectly tied. Truly superb writing and translation's good, too. Thank you. <<less

This novel deserves its high rating. It's jam-packed with adventure, the supernatural, comedy, mystery and romance. 👍 The author's notes every after chapter was a joy to read. ❤️❤️ With Chen Yu's skits alone you'll get your laughs throughout the series. Well with the addition of Lou Ming, you'll be fed with dog food as well. But grandpa Wu was the best of them all~ 😎

I had a lovely time reading the series and I binge read it in 2 days coz seriously I had a fun time reading. 🤩 I guess the... more>> only thing that left me unsatisfied, just like what most of the readers said, was the fact that there's no extra story about Shishi and Lou Ming's life during their marriage life. Ohh how sad.

Kudos to iso and sleepy translation groups for bringing this story to us readers! Great quality output as you'll expect from these two groups. ❤️ <<less

The novel and its translation is great. Until chapter 90+. Then everything is rushed. Axed/Rushed ending killed my rating for this novel. Additionally, the romance is practically non-existence past chapter 50?

3 stars for the comedy.

Very good novel. Recommend. FL has some innocence to her and is blunt and simple minded. The novel is funny in some parts. ML is also likeable. Enjoyed reading very much!

I really like this novel!

An exorcist MC and overly evil spirit ML, at the beginning MC's family found her and bring her back from the mountain, she gained money through exorcist-thing, like send an evil or ghost to reincarnation or kill them. ML here is a genius weapon maker (if I'm not wrong yes.) but due to his overly evil spirit, normal people can't get near him. MC and ML is a neighbor, they became acquainted and began to helping each other. ML is so kind tho, gentle and considerate... more>> hoho.

Amazing action and funny scenes.

The novel is filled with lots of humor, wit, and love! I enjoyed every second of reading this beautiful novel.

Familial love, mc's master's humor and love, mc's identity as a heavenly master action scenes, cute and lovely interactions between the male lead and MC.

I couldn't stop rooting for the MC to "catch" the ML. Hahaha. That scene was too funny.

Such an enjoyable novel. I loved the happy, funny ending. So satisfied ~ ^ v ^~

Finished reading within two days and I am frustrated.

the MC or Female lead is surprisingly annoying, I am not talking about her interaction with ML (Since every couple pair have the rights to be annoying and cringy in the name of love) but I am talking about her relationship with others, like her Important Grandpa, Her Family, Her Friends and acquaintances, like seriously!! it's like she's living in through a video game screens or something! careless and apathetic like most of the time!!!

it's a very tiring type of MC, at... more>> least she's not the Pushing her Opinions on the others.

as for the ML, 7.5 out of 10 star! it's not like he's bad, but there's not much interaction about him and he's a little bland, a sweet type male lead with powerful backing that he never seems to care and use.

Even his Assistances or Guards have more existence than him!!

His sudden courage to jump into a fight flabbergasted me a lot, like... sure... a weapon maker that got protected 24 hours just know how to fight a spirits that's totally stronger than even Exorcists... why not!

the story got cleaned up suddenly and tied with a knot with the 'end' so fast! they fight drought demon suddenly, ML jump up to fight the demon that no one could even stop, MC suddenly turned into the Sixth Artifact, like how did that work!! more explanation please!! both first reincarnation spirits appeared and disappeared to defeat the demon just as fast!!! where is the heartfelt confession and reunion?!?! of course this followed by noble sacrifice of the Grandpa Wu, like... I have no words

That was quite the read. I loved every second of it. Everything about this novel feels so well planned out and Im in love. I literally couldn't stop reading and finished in 2 days. Its that good. I would def recommend.

This has the mark of a good read: you feel reluctant to leave the characters in the end. There’s a lot of Taoist belief and practice, but it’s part of the world-building and storytelling, so it’ll make sense even if you’re unfamiliar with it.

yoww am usually scared with reading novels with ghosts but this one comes with a laugh hahaha MC adventure in ghost hunting/cpturing as she lived with her original family. Main fam are also quite good to her and her adoptive grandpa's hilarius too hahaha- he believes on his granddaughter so usually he just leaves her to her own antics unless FL is reallly in grave danger. Many characters to be known along the way and FL slowly warming up each other to ML. ML also had it rough with his... more>> soul disposition, Many twist and turns to be unravel about his evil qi and their past^^ they are supportive to each other and good job to our cheerleaders (ML bodyguards haha). After FL knowing her feelings to ml, she's really proactive, they are both adult anyways. ML really restrains himself to FL and always show his concerns since FL always face head/hot headed sometimes. ML's a great hubby in fact, as per grandpa's description " his pig (FL) is eyeing a cabbage (ml) " hahaha <<less

2-3.5 I can't decide bc I feel like it's really exciting as a story, but the morals in here are slightly weird and then I see some comments with even sketchier morals/opinions and it turns me off of this book. Unexpectedly, this book offers a lot of debate (for non Chinese readers probably). The book itself is a fun daoist supernatural book filled with various ghost stories. I think the MC is strong and confident which is nice. I think the author chose an interesting character arch for the ml.... more>> He's probably gonna have evil spirits after this life too making guns. Lol

The pros are that it's like a comic book: fast paced, gripping, new events, government, etc. I also really love her family. And likee comic books in the past, the stereotypes and morals are rampant and questionable at times. Cons are it has nationalism (even the underworld god has confucianism thinking??), on that the fact our ML is basically making weapons of mass mu*der and I'm supposed to be ok with this? (Look if I don't like my ml's to be serial killers, then why would I like this? I wouldn't like him even if he was working for my country ok.), straight up lying... even though it was a good thing to get that person in trouble but "lie" told was uncomfortable to read, idk usually I don't care about age gaps as long as they're "adult" but.. it depends on the dynamic if it's weird to me, oh yea the author has massive double standards (against guys), and the author is so focused on the concept of mol*sting (men/in general) (as a writing point?) through out the novel. <<less

This story is quite light-hearted and I can understand how it story works for most of people, but to tell you the truth, I already gave up the plot from around chapter 70sh.

Pros:

  1. Interesting premise with intense action scenes.
  2. Cute, refreshing FL who is actually skilled at her things.
  3. Unproblematic ML.
  4. Extra characters and mini epilogues are funny.
  5. No dog-blood drama.
Cons:

  1. What is university setting for? FL is going out all the time, almost never seen in school.
  2. Many characters popped up in the story just to be forgotten by the author, especially the human characters. I think their number can just be reduced by half and it won't give much impact on the main plot.
  3. FL has special constitution so she can freely have contact with ML in the way none else in the universe can. What a convenient plot armor!
  4. I'm looking forward to the subplot about 'long-lost daughter who grew up in mountain then integrating into high society'. Too bad it is not much developed.

It's funny and entertaining. Not that I can say, there's no heavy plots. But heavy plots were adequate and dog blood were rare.

It’s really a very cute story! MC is straightforward and cute. Op too. ML is very sweet too. It’s a very entertaining good read. All the characters are both funny and sweet, there’s no brain dead villains. I enjoyed reading this so much. Totally recommend. Thank you
