Leonardo Blaine, the true war hero of the Raina Logia Empire and the commander of the Armsilver 11th Squad, is dishonorably discharged for disobeying orders during the final battle that could have led the Empire to victory in the territorial war. People criticize and point fingers at him, and after being released on parole from prison, he disappears without a trace.

Three years later, his name has been forgotten by the world. The Council has been persistently pursuing him, but he has proven difficult to capture. Frustrated by this, Hugo Agrizendro, the commander of the Council’s army, decides to personally apprehend him.

“Since when have you been watching me?”

Leonardo was calculative and astute, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he had been observing Hugo for some time now. However, Leonardo’s answer was something that even Hugo had not anticipated.

“From the very beginning.”

SO I caught up with the latest raws and I have to say this novel might NOT be for everyone.

it's mainly action, slow paced with heavy lore story.

even kr reviews say the first 200 chapters are basically just the prologue... yeah... the main story plot (Bermuda) which will get more interesting, doesn't even start till after that LONGG ahh arc... it's meant to be a journey and clearly going to hit 900+ chaps

... more>> the romance is reallyy slow bc it's not the main focus rn.

if you're curious about the romance: from (300-400)

Spoiler

at least in the current 400 chaps i've read, it's more like a little candy. there was even a stretch of about 70 chapters with barely any interaction between them.

[collapse]

so if you're reading just for romance, well you might find it disappointing

the arcs are so good and the effort in the writing makes you forget that it has a BL tag

love the mystery behind the MC and all the side characters. they're so unique and actually makes the world feel alive

it's def a 4-5 star read but some reviews give 2–3 stars for stuff that umm.. well... only one can make sense. the rest feel like a try to find flaws bc maybe they're not vibing with it? if you're really into the story and keep reading, things change or get resolved anyway

Hugo?

"early hugo" is... nah don't even want to call him yellow flag. if you find him unbearable somehow? you'll know it's due to his job nature but never was a bad guy. he becomes way more likeable over time and become one of the greenest flags

Him babying leo like..?

don't even know why it's that important..i mean that age gap (hugo's 34-35 and leo's 21) and their total opposite personalities probably make his actions seem a bit much sometimes. he acted like that only twice and only when caring for leo but it's really just him not knowing how to express his feelings

Now the most important thing:

The mille elder arc?

it does take its time but it was necessary. a lot of key info and foreshadowing happens there. it drags on bc the writing is just that detailed... so it can feel slow but it's doing things behind the scenes and I did enjoy it

if you want fast or balanced romance, this is def not for you. BUT if you're into world-building, plot-stuff, long-form storytelling and long-term payoff. Bermuda is slow. but peak.

anyway, there are few good korean BL novels, so give it a shot yourself. best read in a binge and tbh i'd suggest piling up around 500 chaps first.

Spoiler

one arc took 100 chaps in the first part, and there's new arc in the second part might take that long too lol but it sounds more fun

I have been really enjoying this story. It is a slow burn - which is worth the wait for the development. The world setting is really interesting and has a great over arching plot developing with their feelings.

If you like Turning, this one is definitely another novel to add to your reading list.

I wrote this review in celebration of the release of PART 2 of Bermuda today. YAY!

I want to talk about how GOOD this novel is and address some misconceptions for any reader who is thinking of dropping it very EARLY—whether because they heavily mischaracterized the MC and ML, judged their love or simply expected something VERY different from Bermuda. So, I decided to keep it as short as possible without many spoilers.

-Here are some facts about the novel:

... more>> 1. It's a very LONG and still ongoing novel.

(S1 ended with 352 chapters, and since S2 just started TODAY, it'll probably end with 500+ chapters or more. So, IMO, 50 chapters aren't enough to write an early review, since the novel is slow-paced.) Unless you're impatient, esp when it comes to romance, this novel isn't for you.

2. It's slow burn!

3. The story is compact focused and has A long fighting scene, but it's well written + MC and ML also have their moments.

4. It's slow burn.

5. There's an age gap between the MCs.

Spoiler

• Their exact ages haven't been revealed yet, but based on what I've read, I'd guess the difference is around 10 years or a bit more? MC might be in his early 20s and ML seems to be in his 30s. Not sure exactly.

[collapse]

6. It's slowww burnnn. Like really no joke, but definitely worth it.

-About the MCs:

MC, Leonardo Blaine: Smart, pretty, strong, pretty, wants to protect people but is the one who needs to be protected at all costs. Sacrificial. Did I mention pretty? Yeah, he's pretty and he's also so fcking cool.

Spoiler

Leo became a war HERO at a very young age. It was indicated that he was in his mid-teens, so maybe 14–15? He was a beloved hero, but he suffered the MOST—PTSD, anxiety, loneliness, trust issues, fear of hurting people and exhaustion from running. He's just a young boy seeking love and freedom.

[collapse]

However, Leo is not weak—never. He can stand up for himself at the right time and if he wants to. He's just a broken hero who has been through a lot and weighs his actions before acting. So I find his personality very realistic.

Spoiler

Also, saying a fake Leo is better than the real Leo is the biggest disrespect. (As if he isn't a forgotten NPC) Like, the glimpse we got of Leo in the first 50 chapters isn't even enough to judge his character and we barely knew anything about him. It broke my heart to see some people mischaracterize him.

[collapse]

-About the chase and why Leo let himself get caught even though he's strong—

Again, Leo is a smart character who knows exactly what he wants and everything he does has a purpose.

Never, ever question his actions or underestimate him.

And the whole plot isn't about chasing. I mean, there are some chase scenes, but that's not all there is to it...

Both Leo and Hugo are nearly equal in strength, but—
Spoiler

it's true that Leo is the strongest character in Bermuda. However, he can't use his full power for certain reasons. Anyway, that chase scene put him at a huge disadvantage in many ways.

[collapse]

ML, Hugo Agrizendro: A gentleman, a good and caring person. Very responsible, strong and handsome. Always the first to communicate.

Some might not like him at first, which is kinda understandable (For me, I liked him since the beginning. From Hugo's POV he was just doing his job, so the hate is undeserved) BUT—

Spoiler

He BECAME a GREEN forest for MC only, obsessed and ready to sacrifice the world for him. I promise you'll fall in love with him too later. Mark my words.

[collapse]

-About Their Love:

No, it's NOT fast.

Again, this novel is a both slow paced/burn.

Hugo's actions toward Leo (at the beginning) were out of sympathy because:

1. They're both from Bermuda.

2. He had been chasing Leo for 3 years.

3. He simply sympathized with Leo because he kinda knew how life had treated him at a young age.

Leo sometimes acting softer toward Hugo is because:

1. They're both from Bermuda.

2. Hugo was the first person in the Raina Logia Empire to treat Leo normally in years, after everything he has been through.

Spoiler

3. A spoiler. Won't say.

[collapse]

The development between the MCs is top tier! At first, you might find it awkward or whatever, but please— the author knows what they're doing. Just trust them like I did skskskkkk

They have many great interactions at the beginning—not in a romantic way, but I still find them hot. The tension between them is just chef's kiss. Their development as lovers is still slow. I mean, there are hot scenes, but I also think there's a long way to go (maybe?) before their relationship reaches into THAT deep, romantic love scenes.

Anyway, get ready for a roller coaster of emotions—you'll be craving more later!

-The plot and the author's writing style are amazing. It's just SO GOOD and well-written that even all the side characters are great and unforgettable! Everything about it is unpredictable. And that Peninsula long arc is VERY important and affects the story in many ways, you'll understand while reading.

Please, this novel is SOO GOOD that I'm addicted. I guarantee you'll fall in love with Bermuda as much as I do—if you're patient enough to not judge it early (Even though there is absolutely nothing questionable in the novel to judge, it's just that some readers love to imagine a different scenario in their heads, then get disappointed.) Anyway, go read it rn!

(New Edit:25 Apr)

—Again, this is a long, slow-burn, action-focused novel. If you're expecting a kiss within the first 200 chapters or instant love, this isn't for you. Don't bother reading or leaving a review based on your own unmet expectations.

—Hugo might seem like a yellow flag at first, but that's only because he's doing his job. He never treated Leo harshly, even when others did. And if his actions toward Leo seem cold or questionable it was out of caution—because of the allegations against Leo and the fact that Hugo had been chasing him for 3 years as part of his duty. They weren't lovers and he barely knew Leo. But to his people and those he cares about, Hugo is 100% a green flag.

*If you want a novel with similar settings: I'll recommend "Turning".

-The difference is:

-ML is green flag from the start.

-MC and ML are too perfect, disagreement-free relationship.

-Omegavere tag.

-First kiss is in ch200, but there are plenty of love scenes later (it's over 1200 chapters). <<less

I love that this is a power couple story. I'm pretty sure that the only reason why Hugo able to subdue Leonardo is because he wore chain magic restriction so he could only be able to use a portion of his magic

Spoiler

the only annoying thing is just the council (especially Hugo f*ck that man) is always full of themselves. They treated leo with no respect whatsoever, f*ck them and the whole empire istg

[collapse]

Spoiler

also, even if there's only one member of the Armsilver squad that is properly introduced and showed in action (and another one only in mention) I'm glad that they seem close and genuinely cares for each other. The Armsilver feels like that one crazily strong found family group lol

[collapse]

I know that the ML is Hugo but I really, really, whished that Leo ended with someone else idc

100/10 for the plot and fantasy (bonus point for a slowburn). -1 point for Hugo and empire+council (I held grudges lol)

update: ch.269

Spoiler

sooo I don't really hate Hugo and the council anymore teehee, they make me cry a little🥹🤏

This is peak. I don’t even care about it being bl anymore. The plot is really well written. I don’t mean to sound overconfident, but I’ve read a lot, to the point that I know what’s going to happen next way too often. I have no clue what is to come in this. I’m in love with this story and its characters.

Leo, the protagonist, man who has been through so much anguish and still decides to forgive. He’s a caring and (for the most part) cunning individual. He shows strength... more>> at the right times and paves a path for those around him. He’s a character who cares more about the result of a process than the actions taken throughout it.

hugo, the love interest 🤷‍♀️, is a hardcore rule follower who cares more about the process than the results. However, the more he is with Leo, the more he separates from this.

the romance and development between the two feels kinda akward, at least to me. But I don’t think I’ve read enough or that there is enough development between them to truly judge. <<less

Honestly when I first found out about this novel I left it alone for like a good 5 months? Completely forgot about it until I got a video about it!

From my experience, the first few chapters felt really boring for me. But after I hit around chapter 20+ I found it so interesting I read it nonstop for atleast a week straight until now (I'm a slow reader LOL)

Now that I've finally reached the latest free chapter, I'm tempted to drop some bucks to continue but my wallet is... more>> begging me rn 😭and not only that i've also dedicated a notes just for this novel and I have written down every character/creature etc. That has been mentioned and it really helped me alot keeping track of who is who! So if you have a difficult time remembering names I really recommend you doing this as it can get a little complicated memorising every battalion commander's name & number HAHAHA

But anyways in the shortest summary possible, if you find Bermuda boring at first, please keep pushing! It truly gets better, not only that there are some arcs that takes really long however it's really worth it watching my two babies interact 💕as a action mostly reader I came across this novel and it sounds like I love tormenting myself but it being so slow burn while the action parts of the novel gets its own share of light really brings this entire story together.

Also irrelevant but I saw some people saying they hated Hugo (ml) !!! For me personally I think Hugo has his own reasons, and his a whole walking forest?? How long has it been since we've seen an equally powerful couple who not only looks good tgt but also communicates with eachother (leo just needs some time) ?!?

edit: novelingua if you're seeing this please PLEASE I beg you upload constantly I feel like im dropping hair waiting for one chapter every 3 days HEHE

I don't really care about the fantasy settings of the story. I've been mainly skipping the plot heavy parts BUT I still love it because of the incredible romantic tension between Leo and Hugo. I've never before read a story with such a powerful romantic tension between the characters. Usually it's more s*xual tension and you can't help thinking "oh they want to explore each other's bodies so bad, " but here it's more like "they want to tenderly gaze into each other's eyes for eternity." They're sugary sweet and... more>> I'm sugar addict. <<less

(New Review, February 5th, 2025) So... I caught up to all available free chapters of Bermuda and let me just say I'd do everything and anything for Hugo and Leonardo no joke. The last 50 or so chapters of Part 1 are simply my everything and made all the pain and build up in the Elder Millie arc so so worth it in my opinion. I originally rated this 5 stars but if I could I would make it 6 stars that's how much I like this novel.

I... more>> will say that the Elder Millie arc ends around ~240ish but after, we get into some juicy stuff and reveals more about the nature of Raina Logia and the army which is sick as well as much more building on Leonardo's and Hugo's relationship. The world building of this novel is no joke, though I do seem to get confused what period of time this is supposed to parallel though I'm like 90% it's the late victorian era with magic fantasy spread here and there.

The two's relationship after the subjugation is so precious to me. The trauma yet bond they get is truly unmatched.

Spoiler

Hugo just struggling to keep Leonardo safe and healthy after he got majorly hurt after the fight with Elder millie. Not even mentioning the fact that he deliberately brought Leonardo back to the Council headquarters separately in order to not encounter the imperial army, they are my everything. Defending him against the public and others who don't know better. Promising and keeping his deal to let Leonardo free by all means necessary, he is the standard for a yearner. They're moments together in my opinion just feel so special and bonded after everything they've been through, with Leonardo being Hugo's sunlight, his little sun, and Hugo being Leonardo's liberator and protector. The ending 30 or so chapters of them being the biggest yearners to ever yearn has to be the top moments of all of my bl novel readings and I've read a lot.

It just makes it more painful when they have to separate. Literally was screaming when they had to leave each other, I felt like I was also being broken up with wtf. The end of part 1 is with them separated and I wonder how the author will go from here

[collapse]

Leonardo's pain/pstd is also elaborated more later on and it just hurts me that my boy had to go through so much at such a young age. MAJOR EXPLICIT SPOILERS DOWN BELOW

Spoiler

being a child solider, being forced to get his blood drawn and back into him to "power" him up before every battle. Seeing his friends die in front of him and having to hold their body parts and running with them. Seeing a fellow solider get forcibly pregnant and then her bottom half blow off, and him clawing his way into her stomach to save the child but it was all for naught, its just too much for someone that is said to be in his early teens : (

[collapse]

Their subconscious yearning is unmatched, their chemistry is off the charts. They are each others light 🤧 everyone please read Bermuda

(OG review, June 29, 2024 Chapter 126) God it's so good like peak enemies to lovers I forgot how good it gets. Hugo and Leonardo have so much subconscious tension it's actually insane I need more asap. Check it out it's amazing, a very very slow burn though. Sometimes the battalions and platoons get really confusing to remember and the politics but it's mostly followable <<less

I really love the overall flow of story and the pacing, its neither too fast nor too slow, although the romance seems a lotttt far away, even more far away than 'turning' but I love how the main story isn't focused on it at start.

The Main character "Leonardo Blaine" MYYYY JUST HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS BABBY!!! HE IS MUST PROTECT, I'D DIE FOR HIM!!! He is reallyyyyy strong and I love how he doesn't overly trust people.. But still cares about them.. Well its rather heartbreaking in its own... more>> way.. He deserves every happiness in this world!! He sometimes acts arrogant and tsundere but that's just to show others, how he is confident in himself.. He is rather sensitive and soft hearted but logical and a good decision maker!! He is indeed strong, both mentally and physically! That's why I love him even moreee!! I LOVE HIM AS MUCH AS YUDER!!!

The Male lead " Hugo Agrizendro" he is a caring person and responsible person, he really values his assistants, officers and commanders, battalion leaders, platoon members and empire citizen and all, but he inclines more towards being rational and cold, that's because there was never anyone who would treat him vulnerable and share his responsibilities as a duke, commander and person, so he doesn't show his emotions much but he always try to communicate! Specially with Leonardo!, whenever there's a misunderstanding or he did something wrong, he would undoubtedly talk, apologize and try to understand the other person! That's something I really liked about him!

Well we still don't know how the romance will develop but he is GREEN FLAG! Although he makes mistake but he do errands to redeem them! And I love how Leo doesn't flatter easily!~

Aside from that, I really loved the story building and I'm reallyyy looking forward to more!!

thank you for translating!!!

oh and you SHOULD give it a try!!! <<less

I can tell this one is gonna be LONG, I just caught up and I wouldn't be surprised if we're only 1/6 of the way there. I'm glad though, the first arcs occur in a small corner of the kingdom, so I'm excited to explore more of the world in the future. But if you're someone who doesn't like waiting, I'd let this one simmer.

Please note that the low reviews are from the early chapters of people expecting a Sherlock/Moriarty situation and it's not. While most of their questions are... more>> explicitly answered later, I just want to be clear that even now, we've barely scratched the surface of the characters' thoughts and future plans. We don't even know what Bermuda is other than that it's their hometown and bad news. If you ever start to think "why did they do that, " just keep reading, because there's probably a reason.

THE WRITING. THE ROMANCE. Oh my gosh my heart. This one is similar to Turning where it's mostly plot, but the parts where there's romance are so beautiful you have to read them three times. It's also similar to Turning in that
Spoiler

the first kiss doesn't happen until chapter 300+ and I see no intimacy happening any time soon.

[collapse]
Be warned that this is super-slow burn, but so gratifying watching them build trust in each other.

I ACCEPT ZERO HUGO HATE. He is responsible for thousands of lives, not just Leo's. Leo has been a soldier since he was a child and was subject to extreme violence and trauma, then was betrayed by his country. We, as readers, have much more information on Leo than Hugo does, and understand mental illness. For Hugo, as a much older duke that's never seen a real battlefield, Leo's actions, distrust in the government, and feelings towards himself are entirely incomprehensible. The only information Hugo starts with is that Leo is an extremely dangerous criminal and Hugo is the only one strong enough to contain him. You can be frustrated on behalf of Leo, but Hugo's every word and action have to be cautious or people, including himself, could die. However, as new information arises, he adjusts his worldview and actions after apologizing.

Both of them have extremely heavy responsibilities whose factions sometimes conflict with each other, so it's necessary to keep certain important matters classified. However, this also means a lot of their interactions boil down to "I'm not a bad person but I can't tell you why, so please trust me, " which is asking a lot considering. They're both extremely smart, which helps to guess their intentions, but there are bound to be misunderstandings because they've led completely different lives. What's important is that they do the best they can within these constraints.

The world is extremely well-thought out, and one thing I especially like is that even though magic exists, the world still largely obeys the laws of science. The island is floating because of magic AND magnetism. The monsters ecosystem is structured that way because of magic mind control AND well-known ecological phenomenon. The author's attention to detail adds an element that most fantasy writers ignore, which makes the world more immersive.

The action scenes

I need someone to illustrate them ASAP. Not because I can't picture it (the writing is very descriptive) but it sounds so incredible like a battle between gods, I want to look at it every day.

Overall, I can tell this is going to be a masterpiece

maybe 3 years from now? Longer? I'll definitely be back once there's at least 600 chapters.

Two tiny nitpicks about the amazing fabulous punctual TL:

  • "Forearm" is between the wrist and elbow, but at least some of the times when he's putting his arm around the shoulder, it's more likely he's actually touching his "upper arm" or "bicep." I kept imagining the arm around shoulder going down to the bu*t I don't think that's what's happening. Unless?
  • "Death throes" isn't WRONG but it's not really used when knocking someone unconscious. I kept thinking Leo was going on a mu*der spree when he was actually just knocking them out.

Lovely.

I think this one might be the first KR Yaoi I've ever liked. Perhaps not just because of the romance but because of the action and the Protagonists' characters and personality and there's no misunderstandings trope here to carry the romance and plot, it's just that good. I honestly liked how reflective both the MC and ML are with their actions and words. They actually feel like real people.

MC struggles with the burden of wanting to save the very same people who either watched silently or condemned him in secret... more>> or in his face, because saving people has always been something he did even before they discarded him, he's naturally a good person.

ML struggles with his personality honestly, he seems to be flawless but from I've read, he's too rational, logical and tactical. His actions are centered on the responsibility he has to carry as the commander, these clash with the MC who wants someone to at least consider his perspective and be thoughtful for him (afterall the MC has been treated as a traitor with most of the empire unwilling to listen to his side, even the ML too, to him, the MC should have done his duty)

ML eventually does get his character growth because of being close to MC, he becomes more feeling and less indifferent.

Alright to the Romance * I'd say it's the most amazing slow burn ever, I wish other action novels will take notes. From the beginning both protagonists are attracted to each other right from how both they are equally matched in strength, then looks, then their subtle interactions. However they don't *immediately* acknowledge that they are attracted to the other, everything about it so so subtle and it builds the tension. And most importantly for me, this does not deviate the story from the main plot, which is centred around MC being a traitor.

Action, battle scenes are 10/10 perfect, author is really good at describing the power scale for the important characters, the only downfall is that supporting characters like for say, the lackies of the leaders are incredibly incompetent, sometimes even the leaders themselves. They just can't win without MC and mls' interference.

Combat, planning, strategy and some scheming don't lose out to other strictly action novels. Everybody gets injured, hurt and feel loss. MC and ML are not as completely invisible they struggle alot.

World building has been kept quite mysterious so far, we know nobles exists and have their factions everywhere and planning something, but we've haven't been introduced to them. Even the emperor and his ministers, are just non existent at the moment so MCs hate towards the empire is currently directed at the people. Perhaps they'll be introduced later on.

So 5/5 for the emotionally engaging writing and satisfying fight scenes. I definitely recommend, if you are looking for an enjoyable slow burn romance that won't make you scream in frustration lol. (Cover looks good too) <<less

I gave this a 5 star because the work needs more attention, but it's more a 4-star for me.

The pros:

  • The translation is very good and the translator deserves a 5-star!
  • The genre focuses on action like "Turning" does. Although romance does play a role, it's pretty slow burn (it's a little to fast for me tbh) and does not take over the story. The plot is very well thought out on a macro scale and the world is very fleshed out. I can't wait to see more of it.
  • The power balance between this power couple is actually equal unlike other "power couples."
  • The characters are very well characterized and the supporting characters don't feel like a backdrop.
Criticism:

  • Like I said, Bermuda is a 4-star to me. The plot is very well thought out and intriguing enough for you to wonder what the author has to explore. BUT I think the pacing is off in a verrrrrry minor way. It's not a problem enough for me to DNF at all; it's just that I think the romance kind of happens too quickly.
  • Leonardo's character is really consistent until he's around Hugo. Maybe I just mischaracterized him in my head, but it's a little frustrating to see him hesitate and soften his words/actions in the span of time they're given. Like I don't think their relationship have grown to the point of being in a confusing state yet? It seems a bit rushed.
  • Leonardo is an experienced former Captain of the 11th Squad of the Armsilver and the Empire's Hero who has experienced a lot of devastation at war, but sometimes it feel like he's inexperienced. I just think that sometimes I get confused on what is his personality and what gets sacrificed in order to create opportunities for relationship development.
  • Hugo consistently underestimates Leo. As frustrated as I am when it happens, I think it's good for the story and character arc. I just don't like how there's no friction because of it. Leo just tries to understand him and it blows over. Hugo is a really good guy and also tries to understand Leo, but I'm just a bit sour because there's no real repercussion for him.
  • I feel like they all talk too much when there's an imminent situation on their hands. Sometimes it feel like a sports anime with them speaking so much. Like it's a life-or-death situation and yet the Council still has time to hash out differing opinions with explosions happening in the background. Atp, even though the Imperial Army did Leo wrong and they haven't appeared yet, I've started to feel like they might be more competent. But this is just a minor criticism. The Council seems to handle more of the general population safety/small scale operations instead of a whole national war so I get it but still... Do you know you have thirty minutes?
Extra Opinions:

  • The
    Spoiler

    Elder Millie Peninsula Arc

    [collapse]
chapters and if this is what we're starting with, I'm worried about what's going to follow next. Like the difficulty was through the roof, what do you mean there's more 😭
  • I don't know what happens next but Leo doesn't find a way to immigrate to another country and escape the Empire's clutches, I don't know what I'm going to do. I'll be disappointed if he joins the Council tbh unless it's to exploit it. He's gone through so much and figureheads without real power will continue to try to shackle him. I need him to be in a situation where the Empire can't have him at their beck and call and suffer for it.
In Conclusion:

Even I go waaaaay in depth of my criticisms of Bermuda, it's still a really good piece of work. It's hard to pace given the nature of serialization, but the major pieces of the plot are well structured. I really like all the characters individually. It captures the complexity of people (Battalion Commanders) who are put in places of power. Interpersonal relationship development pacing is a bit off, but it's good for the people who don't like miscommunication ig. Plot is so good that I'll have to return to read once more chapters are out. I really like this novel so I have high expectations for it.

This enraged me. I normally don’t mind pushover MC’s but the MC is such a pushover I actually needed to take a walk...

MC is depicted as strong until ML shows up who is superior than him in all regards—which I could except, albeit not like, IF ... more>>
Spoiler

the MC didn’t have absolutely no survival instincts or any strategy after finding out ML is stronger? What do you mean you just lost a fight to this man who then IMPRISONED YOU in a METAL CAGE where you were completely bound and forced to be publicly scourned and then you decide to just fight him the same way again?? Then get captured AGAIN?? I get you’re against using hostages but girl RUN (you’re faster) or use yourself as a hostage since you just found out he wont do any killing blows to you?!?! Or, instead of using civilian hostages maybe use soldiers who are actively trying to kill you hostage? The MC loses all positive personality traits in the face of the ML and is basically just used as fodder to make the ML seem more amazing. And the ML is s*upid. Like actually so dumb. There are no complicated thoughts behind his mind. He doesn’t think critically about anything and blindly follows his organization and FORCES the MC to follow it as well.

[collapse]

I don’t think I would be upset by this story if it didn’t start well. The beginning is AMAZING, but as soon as the ML and him start interacting the story actively assassinates the MC’s character to make him an utter pushover. I honestly would’ve preferred if
Spoiler

the fake version of the MC was the real one because at least that one had some backbone.

[collapse]

A lot of the setting in the story (at least to the part where I read) also doesn’t exactly work with the events that take place (?) like for some reason no one seems to kill or die which makes a lot of the stakes rather odd. It’s possible some of this is explained later though.

Also
Spoiler

MC being so averse to killing and having no survival instincts is even more odd from the fact that he was used as a weapon by the country before? Like you expect me to believe that he was fine with (probably) being responsible for so many innocent deaths during war but he can’t overcome his morals to like kill some people who are actively attempting to imprison and strip him of his freedom. FIGHT BACK. Please

[collapse]

TL;DR, if you’re a fan of strong MC’s and went into this for that like me, I highly recommend you look elsewhere. MC is strong on paper but is essentially all bark and no bite. He never actually stands up for himself or makes any attempt to better his situation or get revenge on those who wronged him. And if he does after the point I read, I’d bet it was actually the ML who does it for him since the ML seems to render him incapable of doing anything in his presence.

The first fight scene was nice though! <<less

I really love this novel so much! The MC and ML is so badass the story is good! Like wow! The fight scene is crazy amazing! The only thing I feel off is when they flirting in the middle of chaos and emergency lol but I think I understand why the author do that. Oh and the whole elder millie peninsula arc is too long and the boss is just too op. Like if that was the first final arc idk what will happened next final arc, how much difficulties... more>> would rise if the beginning is like that. But overall even that atc is stressing me out so much I really like it!

But the most I like is both leo and hugo characters. Seriously I really love leo so much my precious boy, but Hugo? Man I can't move on from him. When I read comments people hate him I never can hate him, I keep thinking leo would never hate him either I bet. His character is very human actually and when he know leo more he becomes a whole green forest. I think this is why leo falling for him, I mean me too lol the why he love leo so much just make melting, I even dream I become leo because Hugo

Please just read this masterpiece! The translation is so good too! Thank you very much translation team, you guys awesome! <<less

Story is well written but if you came in expecting a chase, it's incredibly short lived. I truly was caught off guard when Leonardo was not only caught, he stayed caught and I skimmed until chapter 70 so I can assume that's how it stays for the rest of the novel. So with no other escapes you would expect some mind games to come in but honestly Leonardo just ends up helping the Council that he hates because he gets dragged along with Hugo's regiment everywhere. His bleeding heart shines... more>> bright and ends up solving all the problems the regiment has which is fine except now it feels like we lost the plot.

I think if my expectations were different going in this novel, I wouldn't have gotten so mad at the plot but I did so I was. This is the reason I'm writing this review. It's a good story but don't go into it expecting a chase or a whole lot of rebelling. It's more prisoner and guard than rebel and cop. <<less

Tbh this more like a 4 to me but I have some deep complaints so...

This novel seems like something I would enjoy, and despite the low rate I giving it maybe theres a chance for me to change my opinion. Since most of the reviews has mentioned the good side of it, so to begin with, I will only be telling you why I dont like this piece that much.

Bermuda appeared like a SLOWBURN novel but it ended up like a SLOWPACE novel instead. Imagine theres a lot of unnecessary... more>> details and 'personal opinion' in a single chapter that make everything happen slower. They use less than 50 chapters to catch a boy (Who I thought shouldnt be caught that fast) then spend more than a hundred for a single operation on an island.. Dont get me wrong, I have been thru several novels with more than hundreds or thousands chapters but what make this one different is the fact that its TOO MUCH. You migh reading some chapters where MC just thinking what should he do and some chapters where they simply time-skipping the preparation process. Making this ended up kinda stressful to me.

I think the author trying to show, not to tell, but they tell too little compare to the number of texts I have to consume. Theres a lot of ways to actually tell a little more, as for example, we have two bermuda civil infront of us everyday and little do we know why this title means that much. Some might be enjoying the process of unfolding the truth, but believe me, I reading believing I might not be able to know anything until they simply just tell me so. The best thing about the information they giving is Biology lol, which sometimes seems funny until they used 2 chapters (or 3?) to explain about a bug in a meating...

About ML and Loveline, no bad comment! I absolutely enjoy ML, maybe because I understood he has always been on a hash position to decided anything or everything using his head instead of his heart. Some might hate him, but I dont. And I think its a plus. There love is simple, adorable and enjoyable... It seems logically understandable as MC has been thru lots of things and not a kind of person to open his heart easily, but ML nailed it.

I recomment this to those who enjoy stories that moving slowly. Since I read more than a hundred chapters per day I dont feel like their relationship was too much to be called slowburn, but hey it might be stressful for those who unfamiliar with this speed. Read it with an open arm, and you shall find a pieces to call favourite. <<less

I love this.

This is one of my favorites! currently I'm at chapter 260 and The story is a bit slow paced here and there, but the amazing characters and plot makes up for it greatly.

love the mc's chemistry with the ml! They don't have dumb misunderstandings and seeing other characters interact with MC is so fun ngl.

I really like this novel so far ! This tension between the Leo and Hugo is just unbelievable. It's too perfect to be true.

I love how mature these characters are. And the communication !! They always find a way to understand each other and it's crazy how this story is like a story of how they heal each other.

And the romance between them is blooming very slowly but it's enough. You can clearly see improvement in their relationship and I'm happy to see that they make mistakes but they still... more>> find a way to stick to each other.

Definitely recommend it ! If you loved Turning, you'll love it ! Leonardo reminds me of Yuder. <<less

Personally I liked Bermuda, the characters were complex, the fight and action (heavy dominated so if ur coming to read strictly for romance stay away) scenes were extremely well written and interesting I literally could not stop reading and was on the edge of my seat..

The MC (Leonardo) I felt deep sympathy for he was so misunderstood and so complex I could go into a hundred words about him. Hes recognised for his power it feels like hes simplified sometimes as people constantly highlight his beauty and power as if... more>> its one of the only qualities

I really liked how he was rational + held up his ideals to the point it was kinda frustrating & admirable to read. I loved his dynamics with certain characters (his family nero kenis etc)

The plot genuinely really good BUT
Spoiler

(not a issue for me as I personally enjoyed it) the elder miller plot dragged out quite a bit.

[collapse]

The worldbuilding is good aswell & fun the whole kingdom aspect and lore behind it omg... I adore the power dynamics the mixture of the sterotypical (s, a class) and the fantasy based elemental powers

The author was quite smart for hugo & leo with their matching character designs (fire & water) it just felt like they were made for each other lol

Now onto what I found a heavy issue about

Hugo the main lead I found his character to be quite down to earth? Heavy in his ideals strict all that but I did admire some of his treatment of leo he wasnt a red flag and MAINLY a green flag, played his role as a protector + they fought side by side & empowered each other BUT

I found there were 2 main points about him that did kinda piss me off

first his constant treatment of leo as a child
Spoiler

I get he was battling with his feelings but constantly babying a grown man his reason I presume was because of his doubts of his feelings that he constantly pushed onto as respect for a hero & sympathy but when Leo was having a ptsd panic attack & hugo decided to hide his emotions and comfort him by putting on a child voice 'did u have a nightmare? : (' pissed me off so bad like cmon bro do better! It might be due to his 'untrustful' nature but it felt fake & kinda pissed me off after everything they've been through

[collapse]
But it is a issue more in the later chapters and I havent finished so it might've been resolved? Ill update if anything.

This is another issue with his character not the authors fault because lol also this was well written. His strict ideals. As I said earlier I admire both hugo & leos strict ideals, but one of his strict ideals is the dedication to the emperor & his role as a commander
Spoiler

(which he did end up betraying a couple times)

[collapse]
absolutely aggravating

But im not gonna sit here and hate on hugos character because there were sometimes where I did really enjoy his character & thought him & leo were quite cute & I did like his intelligence & decision making skills.

+ I cant tolerate toxic useless main leads but hugo was far from it.

AND ALSO following up on the previous reviews this is extremely slowburn in the romance depart. Like we only get small moments of intimacy
Spoiler

like hand holding hugging a couple forhead kisses and a kiss without determining their relationship 200 chapters in
