In 1982, a major case occurred in Jin City, resulting in multiple deaths. The accomplices escaped, and the main perpetrator, Yin Jiaming, was shot and fell into the sea.

Thirty-nine years later, a film adaptation of the case, “The Great Heist of Jin City,” became a box office hit, drawing the attention of forensic pathologist Ye Huairui.

A month later, Ye Huairui moved into an old villa, only to discover that it was once the residence of Yin Jiaming.

====

At midnight, after a thunderstorm, Ye Huairui found a line of writing on his desk: “Who are you!!?”

Ye Huairui thought, is this place haunted?

He wrote a reply: “Either you are a ghost, or you are the mu*derer.”

The message on the desk changed to: “I am not a ghost, nor am I the mu*derer! I didn’t kill anyone!!”

Ye Huairui: …

An incredible connection across time and space brought together two people separated by thirty-nine years in the mysterious old house.

Thus began a time-transcending relay of investigation.

“Yin Jiaming was wronged; the real culprit is still at large.”

With the help of a genius forensic pathologist from thirty-nine years in the future, can Yin Jiaming prove his innocence and rewrite his doomed fate?

====

The truth will not be altered, only buried.

A beyond time and space romance of death and redemption, and in the end, I will hold your hand tightly.

====

The first words Yin Jiaming “said” to Ye Huairui were: “Ruirui, come give me a hug.”

Ye Huairui spread his hands: “You come here. If you can’t hug me, you’re a coward.”

➺ 4/5🌟

This one gave me such Signal vibes in terms of presenting the past and the present as if it's happening simultaneously and how there's a mysterious phenomena that's helping the person from the present to be able to communicate someone from the past. This is not exactly a time travel but it's still a matter of story transcending through time so there's definitely some time paradox involved.

I absolutely loved the premise of this one. The time-transcending way of exchanging information to solve the cold case is such an interesting... more>> plot that I don't see very often because it can easily mess up and create plot holes. But I think this one was handled well. The ML from the past, who was basically a fugitive and was being limited in terms of his actions, and the MC from the present, who is decades away from changing anything that's already happened, both of their hands are supposed to be tied. But that premise only served more thrilling scenes. Having 39 years time gap between them also added to the desperation and longing and that's what makes this more raw and it will definitely make you feel apprehensive. This story can easily lead to a more tragic and heartbreaking ending, but fortunately, author is not that cruel.

I also find it interesting that the MC and ML, because of the time gap, take actions separately and they work on their own. They're not always together. They also only have this limited, mostly rushed, time with each other so you might think there's not enough time for them to catch feelings. But I loved that the author was able to make you feel their growing affection for each other in such a short span of time without making you feel like it's instalove and that their feelings are shallow. In fact, it's the opposite and the author did that very effectively.

Also, I think the author has some forensic background or just a highly knowledgeable forensic enthusiast but that part of the story is very well written. So much details about forensic but not in a way that will drown you but it will make you fascinated. I actually learned a lot. I loved authors that do their proper research.

This is such an unexpectedly engaging read. I didn't even know this one exist and just happened to come across this in the depth of NU recommendations. I'm glad I discover this though because this is such a pleasant surprise. Highly recommended. <<less

honestly a good engaging read, I want to rant paragraphs but for now I can't so ill keep it short : Forensic Pathologist × Young Master turned Bounty wanted criminal. As other reviews said uou can get a Pretty good understanding but what I want to mention is that despite the story being 5/5, we can say both ML & MC have separate story and they work on their own pace. They don't work together entirely as some other novel you may have read rather they help each other to... more>> do work alone and yeah ik that's cause of the different time period and lack of visibility but I feel like they're well written character with their own area in the story and that's among my various reason is why this is such a good novel.

The ending was actually okay. Even tho the Main story didn't elaborate on their living (they did tho) but the side story did include addition unfinished story so its all well.

Overall it's a good novel. And this is the first time I'm leaving a comment despite being in this site for almost 7½ years, so I have no idea what to write, hope this is understandable. <<less

Not baddd!! It's like a short crime and time travel novel given that they only had limited time to converse with each other (only during rainy days on the MC's side). It's easy to understand how they gradually fall in live with each other. MC is more of a face con I feel, so when he first 'met' the ML in his basement, he had a good impression already. After a few more times and actually getting to know the ML better, he started to really really want to save... more>> him from his so called destiny. Whereas for the ML, because he was stuck in the basement with no one to talk to, when the MC appeared, its hard for him to not like him right? But after getting along he also gradually realise that our MC is rather cute and adorable hahaha. It's hard not to like our MC.

Anyways I enjoyed reading this. But I felt like the main antagonist could have been introduced slightly earlier so that we as the readers can make guesses and all. If the antagonist only appears at the end where he's about to get caught then it's not that interesting right.....? But still, really love the interactions between the MC and ML. Super cute 🤭🤭 <<less

A great surprise!

I found this book on wattpad, I was drawn to the argument in two time lines and it was definitely a good choice.

A police and intrigue story well intertwined with romance.

... more>> It is "easy" to tell a two-time story but knowing how to bring it so that both lines are joined is where most of these stories sink.

I won’t say it’s perfect but it’s a good story that you can’t tell much about to make a review without spoiler.

(It’s been a while since I read this book so I can’t give any concrete details and only the general feeling that this story left me.) <<less

The romance happens a little too quickly and is a little too perfect but it works, as the focus stays on the main mystery. It wouldn’t have made sense anyway, with how limited time they had while talking across time to get into deep relationship drama. They like each other and the extras show them making a life together.

The main mystery was okay too. If the real culprit had been introduced earlier, it would’ve made the overall mystery much stronger but finding the threads back and forth in time was... more>> still very interesting. <<less
