As the name suggests, nothing is known about this person who strikes without detection leaving behind nothing but a corpse with burned out eyes.

As the First Prince of Ibeden closes in on the Kemened Kingdom, his subordinate Count Custer is killed in a brothel. His burned out eyes, like bloody moons, leave no doubt as to identity of person who killed him. Yet again it was the unknown assassin.

There is a secret beneath the maze of the Kemened Kingdom, as The First Prince will soon discover it goes much deeper than assassin’s or Kingdoms, it’s a matter of fate, and it will change everything

Hi, Im the translator. I took out some of the misleading stuff in the 'description'. Hope it doesn't sound too boring now, but it's still more accurate (I guess).

Caveat: I don't think it's fair for the translator to give their opinions on a story. Mainly because, even though I'm not the creator, I'm attached to the story. With that said I do have opinions and they are listed in the Spoiler.

Spoilery summary/review:

... more>>
Spoiler

This novel is a story that starts off dark and has a serious ray of sunshine (or potential sunshine) beamed onto it very soon after it starts. A tragic but lovely person was being ab*sed by his own family. His family also uses him to do evil things which he does simply out of love and a need to protect those same horrible people. Soon after the story starts, the pitiful protagonist, who is also an assassin, is ironically, picked up (rescued) by his next target who is instantly taken with him from the start. His next target is the Crown Prince of the Empire the protagonist's family is at war with. They don't yet know or understand that this was much more than a chance encounter, it was a very deep-rooted fate.

The story is beautifully delivered for the first volume and a half (+). It seems both intriguing and like a beautiful love story sans the typical BL toxicity, and I loooved it! However, the story gets wonky at points. Don't misunderstand this story is worthwhile, but I don't suffer from new parent blindness (i.e. Thinking your kids are the most beautiful, cutest, smartest, etc.)

Also, this is a legit R-19, but there's no romantic smut until the second half of Vol 3, and only after the main story ends. I imagine that this sets some readers up for frustration, personally, I didn't care. There, my unbiased, biased review.

So far pretty good. Translated very well.

There is some mystery, some angst, and possible some good political/war in the future.

I love the interactions of the MC and ML. The prince seems to dote on him. The ML needs all the love he can get.

Actually really good, I was quite sceptical about plot due to annotation (especially about prostitute proving part as forced relationships don't excite me much), and put aside reading it. But recently I saw update for it and decided to give it a go, and holy...i loved it! And its just 20 chapters out of 60 can't wait to see how their relationship grow.

Seme is very caring towards Uke, and Uke, our boy really needs some love in after all horrible things he have been through. Radan doesn't know much about... more>> proper life due to his confinment, so meeting prince is like breath of fresh air for him. Prince is very honorable person, and he is very caring and loving towars Radan.

There is mystery in the plot as there is Radan ability and prophesy told to Prince. So there is still much to the plot besides, two people from enemy kingdoms meeting each other by chance. I kind of enjoyed all interactions and setting so far in v1. Can't wait to see how story progresses in next volumes

Translator, great work!

I liked the story up to a certain point, but was really frustrated by the author completely FAILING to deliver on the sexy times. The build up was beautiful, but that fade to black BS did not fit and I can't bother finishing a story I wasted 6 hours reading.

I really like this one so far! I wasn't sure how the story would progress but was pleasantly surprised.

The Prince is trying his best to win over the heart of Radan and insists on waiting for Radan to want him back before he sleeps with him. At the same time, Radan is trying desperately not to get attached to the Prince. I'm excited to see their relationship develop

*dont know why this got so many 1 stars? Please don't judge this on the first few chapters

Bloody Moon is a short novel that focuses on the MC's journey as he struggles with his inner conflicts, and the romance between the main couple. It has a good premise and a well-constructed plot until the middle of the novel. The characters are really cool and have a lot of personality (they are very active in the novel). The romance has good chemistry, despite the toxicity. Overall, it's a good novel, but not a masterpiece.

(I didn't read the side stories, because I didn't feel like it anyway)

Spoilers will be between the tags, so read without worry ;)

Protagonist: Radan is someone who has suffered his entire life, being used as a weapon by his own family. He is fragile, but sweet and kind. An... more>> innocence towards mundane things due to his cruel upbringing. He is happy with simple things and loves to discover new things. Someone very hurt who found refuge and comfort in the very target he was supposed to kill. Then, his great conflict arises: a promise of a better life or the life of this strange person who treated him so well?

ML and the Main Couple: our Leshak is not a green flag, but I can't call him a 100% red flag either. He's somewhere in between, more towards red, maybe 75% red flag? He's loving towards Radan and treats him well, trying to make him as comfortable as possible, but there are some slight dub-cons throughout the novel. There are even times when there are some non-cons in a specific part of the novel, but it was never romanticized or sexy, and there was a motivation
Spoiler

he literally went crazy

[collapse]
and it was perceived as something bad by Leshak himself and the rest of the characters.

Leshak IS toxic, but it wasn't thaaaat unbearable for me.

He's hyper jealous and possessive, to the point of not respecting some of Radan's wants, like interacting too much with other people or giving/receiving gifts from others (which he himself realizes is toxic, but can't help it).

Did that bother me? Quite a bit, but it didn't make me drop the novel because Radan didn't care about those things. He never felt like he was being limited of his freedom or anything like that, so it wasn't something that hurt him.

He waited until Radan was ready to deepen the intimacy, even though sometimes he lost a bit of control, he respected that, and never hurt Radan
Spoiler

aside from that dark moment when his sanity was thrown out the window,

[collapse]
which prevents me from classifying him as a total red flag.

Besides, Leshak's toxicity is more in his thoughts than in the things he actually does, after all he knows it would be too much of an as*hole and Radan would hate him. So the people around him notice Leshak's dark feelings and condemn them, but since they are not carried out, Radan is not affected by them.

So, is he a jerk? yes, and I hate him for that
Spoiler

especially in his crazy phase where he SA Radan out of jealousy with the idiotic justification of "you'll remember with your body". Here I almost dropped, it made me really uncomfortable, but at least he regains his sanity (a little) and realizes that it was really wrong, so I can somewhat turn a blind eye, but still condemn him for that,

[collapse]
however he is incredibly good for Radan, who is far from knowing Leshak's true distorted thoughts, so I can give it a pass... I think.

Spoiler

But ngl, I would have preferred Radan had killed Leshak (for treating him horribly while he was crazy) and have him run away with Oz to Amboia.

That way, the Basilisk curse would be over, he could live a normal life, with a new identity, in a far away new place with someone who would take care of him in a healthier way... all perfect for the fresh new start that Radan needed.

But what can you expect from a generic toxic BL? Well, in the end even Radan acknowledged that he would've lived better that way, but he still chose Leshak because he is madly in love with Leshak and he's happy like that, so whatever.

[collapse]

If you don't mind a little toxicity, then you'll probably enjoy it much more than I did, as a green forest lover.

Plot: The plot is simple and started with a very solid foundation. It's not a plot-driven novel. Its proposal is not to have a mega plot with lots of politics or complexity. It was well developed in the first volume. But from the second volume onwards, the plot went downhill a bit.

Some things were resolved too quickly/doesn't make sense:

Spoiler
    • The origin of the basilisk curse that was revealed in 1/3 of a single chapter;
    • Laud, who appeared as a major villain in the beginning and was just thrown aside and brought back out of nowhere so as not to say he was forgotten;
    • Radan's great conflict, his dependence on his brother was resolved in the blink of an eye, he turned around and said "oh, I'm not going to kill Leshak or go back to Laud just because", as if this dependence wasn't the whole point of his indecision;
    • The 113-year-old crazy guy who appeared out of nowhere, tried to manipulate Radan by killing his family, and died, in less than 1 chapter (??????) ;
    • The fire spirit who deserved much more attention from the beginning, but only appeared to say the origin of the curse and disappear.
      [collapse]
But one thing that irritated me, and it wasn't a little:
Spoiler

the f*ckin amnesia plot. For god's sake, think of a trope that I DESPISE.

[collapse]

The ending had a good conclusion, without being rushed or dragged, and it was quite reasonable.

Characters: they are the best part of the novel. The side characters have very strong personalities, with lots of fun interactions between them. They are distinct and not simply copies with different names. Without a doubt, they are the highlight here.

Angst: I think you can already tell, but there will be a lot of angst related to our protagonist, his past and his current conflict. It hurt my heart when
Spoiler

his identity was revealed and the people who were closest to him distanced themselves and treated him badly, it's understandable, but it hurt anyway ;-;

[collapse]

Anyway, this is not the type of novel that I normally enjoy, mainly because of the weak plot and toxicity. I'm also not the biggest fan of weak naive protagonists, but I decided to give it a chance and I actually really enjoyed the novel. It was a good read.

If you don't mind these things and enjoy a good hurt-comfort, I think Bloody Moon is worth giving a chance. <<less

3.5 stars, I'll leave a quick review:

I spent the first half of this book annoyed by a GLARING plot hole; if your soldiers truly want to check out Radan's prostitute alibi and family history, then why did they not ask THE BROTHELS. The soldiers tracked down the pimp and ran around the outskirts where the pimp sent them just to confirm his father and brothers, but why not ask the brothels if they have a blimd prostitute??? Idk this bothered me the whole time.

other than that yeah, Leshak is a... more>> relatively good love interest except for the awful part in the middle of the book where
Spoiler

he beats the everliving f*ck outta Radan and r*pes him. Radan wakes the next morning and runs for his life, breaks his ankle doing so, but quickly falls unconscious back into Leshak's arms. The next time he wakes up ita like everythibg that happened with Leshak has been completely forgotten? He even tells Leshak he loves him for the first time iirc so uh... Did NOT like that. I knew going into this novel that there was a r*pe scene between the MC and ML, but I was hoping it really would be more of a "Leshak is completely not in his right mind and didnt know what he was doing" kinda thing. And it was, but also I feel he was sane and conscious enough to still not have had ti commit such an atrocious act.

[collapse]
other than this Radan is completely doted on him.

I did like that the author took into account a person raised in captivity would truly lack any normal world-knowledge, and Radan's speaking skills were very stunted.

Also the middle 15% of this book had me SO stressed

3/3.5 stars. I enjoyed it, but due to the NC being what it was I just can't rate it at 4 like I want to :/

I'm sure other people won't have an issue with all this though, I've seen the toxic BL some people read haha

also thank you so much to the translator! It was a wonderful translation (minus the often misspelled "you're" and "they're").

ALSO I dont know if it's the translator or the original text that says this, but snakes are NOT POISONOUS, they are VENEMOUS!!! There is a BIG difference between these two and it was used incorrectly in the translation I read. <<less

So far, it's really good. I love stories involving a strong and powerful character (ML) madly falling in love (against his will and belief) with a naive and pity character (MC). MC's background is sad, a prince yet treated like a prisoner/s*ave to kill the enemies. He was isolated and locked up, which made it that much more sweet when ML treasure him tenderly. However, I'm a little worry where the story is heading since MC ran away with some new character. I'll be waiting for the updates...

Oddly written. Lordly Prince is so indecisive. How does he even prosecute the war? That’s not the only world-breaking contradiction in the story.

The text is disjointed and skips context. This might be due to translation or cultural issues.

Otoh because it skips so fast, there isn’t boring bits.

In volume 2, the breathtaking truth. Ok, action really taking off in volume 2. Oooh the dogblood.

Volume 3 is full of rushed peculiar action scenes.

Spoiler

This is a story of maddened men. Truly requiring psycho therapy. Plots within plots.

I liked this novel quite a bit! It was nice too see how much the two characters liked each other, and the story was well thought through.

I gave it a 4/5 because it just wasn't my favourite, it was good; but not the best 😊
