he adopted six orphans excluding his biological child. And he really cares for them. He's a tsundere

ML was already 500 years old when MC was a baby

2 grown kids (teen and early 20 which are considered very young for cultivators), a spirit sword who turned into a kid, an orphan from medicine valley

MC is a demon being hunted by the Alliance because he stole the Linlong Bone (its a treasure is very powerful, can bring people back to life etc).

He wanted to take down all those people hunting him, even if it's at the expense of his life.

He thought he will die but he wakes up beside the Endless River (miles away from the cliff he jumped off) and there's a baby beside him.

This baby even has a blood connection with him, meaning it's his son!

Initially, MC thinks that a maiden who likes him gave birth to a son for him but left them.

At first, MC wanted to kill the baby but he ends up keeping it alive.

Eventually, they reach a town and while there, it seems that there's something wrong with the town.

There's like a plant spirit taking over people's conciousness etc. And MC gets trapped because he doesn't have any spiritual power (his body/dantian/meridians got broken during that fight with the alliance).

However, I think it's this time that MC realized that he can actually get inside a mysterious cultivator's sea of consciousness and steal some spiritual power (at this time, MC doesn't know yet that it's because of his son and the person he is stealing from is actually MC)

Then, MC inadvertently saves some people like Feng, Jiang and Chu Xi.

In the end, he realizes that he actually knows the plant spirit that's causing havoc in the city.

It turns out that when MC was young, he was born in a branch of the Ning family. Unfortunately, his branch was massacred and after some twists and turns, he was adopted by Ning Xingyuan (who is the young master of the main branch).

MC treats Ning Xingyuan as a brother and he was raised by Ning Xingyuan from when he was 6-15 I think. Ning Xinguan was also raising a plant spirit at that time.

This plant spirit even seems to have romantic feelings for Ning Xingyuan and this plant spirit also indulged MC when MC was growing up.

At first, the plant spirit just didn't realized it was MC (until MC used a Ning family technique) because it has been 500+ years.

And here we also get a glimpse of why MC is hated, hunted (even before stealing the Linglong bone) and turned into a demon.

It turns out that when MC was 15/16, something went wrong in the Ning Family that caused their whole city and thousands of people to die.

At that time, MC was away because he was in the academy while the plant spirit was in closed cultivation. The only thing the plant spirit saw was (Ning Xinguan's disciple, Du Lu, killing Ning Xingyuan before he himself (plant spirit) perished.

500+ years later, the plant spirit was awakened and got powers again because of a fragment of the Suzuka Sword that inadvertently end of with him. This Suzuka Sword was Ning Xingyuan's sword which was passed down to MC. It broke during his battle with the Alliance.

Now that the plant spirit is awake, he wrecked havoc in the city because Du Lu is the city master of that city and he wants revenge.

In the end, when the plant spirit was dying, he showed his memories to MC to show what happened 500+ years ago from his perspective. It was very heartbreaking.

During this arc, MC saves Feng (man) and Jiang (female) several more times even though he really didn't intend to lol and Feng/Jiang wants to take MC as their father.

Of course, MC doesn't want to haha

Btw, during this arc - ML also finds put that he has a son and several times, he helped Ning Xiu (their son) stabilize his soul or heal him through his sea of consciousness because Ning Xiu is always on the brink of death. I think ML also finds out that someone was stealing spiritual power from him at this time, it's just that he doesn't know it's MC yet

ML noticed that MC was on the brink of death and considering that he is the child's mother, he kinda helps MC heal his dantian/meridians a bit. ML is still in seclusion so he only helps MC/their child through their consciousness and not physically.

I'm not sure if he knows MC is a man/woman at this time tho, I think this is the time he realizes and he is shocked.

MC wakes up in a woodshed. It turns out that he fainted on the roadside. Then, Feng and Jiang brought him to Feng's sect.

At the sect, Feng pleaded to his Master to take in MC but Feng is being isolated because it was MC that killed 2 of his sect brother's before.

Then, when Jiang was being mistreated too in the sect, a man named Wen tried to help her. Although they ended up falling off a cliff.

This man turns out to be the brother of Feng's master.

I'll skip the twists and turns - the plot twist here is that

Wen is a corpse, he's only alive because a piece of the Suzuko Sword ended up in his corpse. His corpse was being preserved and tried to revive by his brother, Feng's master.

In order to really bring Wen back to life, it turns out thag Feng's master has been collecting disciples with the same birthday as Wen and he sacrificed all his disciples and they all die except for Feng (because he is actually lucky).

It also turns out that Wen is actually 1 of MC's childhood friend. They used to be 3 best friends- MC, Wen and Cui.

But when MC was being hunted down 500+ years ago, Wen tried to hide him in their sect. But Wen's master reported that MC is hiding in their sect. In the end, in order to help MC escape, Wen sacrificed his life.

In the end, Wen said that at that time, he could have either saved MC or saved his sect. Either would make him feel guilty but he doesn't regret saving MC.

He also returned the sword fragment to MC. But because Wen is already really dead, he dies too.

At the end, MC didn't say it directly but he kinda accepts Jiang and Feng as his children

Jiang and Feng were guessing that maybe the reason why MC didn't pushed them away anymore because MC knows he would pass out again and he needs someone that would take care of MC and Ning Xiu (the kid) lol

Anyway, I think the ML helps MC heal again (in their consciousness) and he leaves a note saying that MC should find him in Wushi Sect

At this time, MC still thinks that ML is a woman and he thinks that it would be better if Ning Xiu is taken care of by a woman so he decides that after he meets with Ning Xiu's "mom" he'll probably leave the child to her if she is reliable.

MC then goes to Wushi Sect and spies on the peak where ML is at

ML notices and at first, he lets 1 of his avatar (a faceless man who has the same body as ML) to meet MC. Things happened (there was a villain I think that was lurking and ML fights the villain)

and MC notices that ML's avatar seems to have 1 of the sword fragments embedded on it so MC kidnaps this avatar

When MC investigate the avatar more, he notices that this avatar seems to be the avatar of someone he knows, someone from his past (at this point, MC still thinks that his son's other parent is a woman because he didn't really meet ML at Wushi's peak, he just saw the avatar before they were interrupted by a villain)

It turns out that before the Ning family's disaster when he was 15/16, MC was actually called back by Ning Xinguan through a letter asking him to go home.

However, MC didn't make it back because something happened and he just woke up in a swamp with his dantian/meridians broken. There, he was rescued by a man who lost his memory.

This man was quiet but he sincerely helped MC so MC couldn't help but tease him, etc.

He even named the man Wanli. And this Wanli is kinda MC's first love.

They were travelling together for a couple of months I think and once they were out of the swamp, Wanli needed to go into seclusion to solve his cultivation problem while MC needed to go to the Ning Family.

So they promised each other that they will meet at a nearby mountain after a month.

However, the Ning family disaster happened so MC was unable to keep that promise.

Next, MC finally got to meet the ML and he finds out that ML is a man lol haha

There were some really cute interactions here because at first, ML pretended to be just a minor disciple and not really the peak head (which he is). Plus, MC's other kids also settles at the peak and ML acknowledges them as his children too so prepare for really cute interviews

I think it's this arc as well that MC realizes that someone is manipulating behind the scenes. He notices that the sword's fragment are on people who he knew and were important to him in the past and he would have to kill these people if he wanted to be at his prime again and restore his sword

So far, the sword fragments were in the plant spirit (he kinda raised MC too), Wen (his bestfriend), ML's avatar (his first love/teacher).

Okay, so there were some twists and turn before we really find out the depth of MC and ML's entanglement and how they actually know each other way way back. I'll explain it in one go but in the story, it was slowly revealed so it was more 'aha' moments

ML now cultivates the Path of Tranquility but hundreds of years ago, he used to cultivate the Path of Bloodshed. Something went wrong with his cultivation and he was saved by a man names Ning Gu (I think).

ML tried to repay him by giving him treasures by Ning Gu said no, he's not after treasures, he just want to get good karma for his sickly son/baby.

ML meet Ning Gu's 1 month old baby and he sees that the baby is born with a heavenly body but his meridians are narrow so the baby's body cannot accommodate all that power. 1 solution is widening all those meridians but it will be very painful.

ML proposes that he will widen the meridians and even take on the pain through a red cord.

Once done, Ning Gu asks ML to name the baby which ML names Ning Chengfeng (our MC hihi).

15/16 years later, ML divines that he will undergo a tribulation and MC is his tribulation. I think his only choice was he either will not transcend or he needs to kill MC.

That's why he went to the academy to know more about MC and MC's other teacher, Hao Zheng, says that MC is unruly but he is quite lovable.

Indeed, MC is very naughty and he makes ML's head ache lol but he kinda grew on ML. They become really close with MC always visiting ML, teasing him, etc.

Then, ML notices that there's something wrong with MC. It turns out that someone had forcefully embedded a heart demon on MC (they don't know who, maybe it was even the Ning family).

During this time, I think MC actually already has a crush on ML. While the ML, maybe he doesn't deeply love MC yet but maybe ML also has a crush on MC already.

MC even gives ML a flower that can help ML's dantian (he needs this because he switched from the Path of Bloodshed to tranquility).

ML remove the heart demon on MC in exchange of putting the heart demon on himself. He also removes some of MC's memories of him.

Hao Zheng asks why he still kept some of MC's memories of him if he plans on removing MC's memories of him. I feel like it's because ML's heart is reluctant that MC will really forget him.

Then, something goes wrong with ML's cultivation again because of the heart demon. He ends up in a swamp where his amnesiac self meets MC.

Btw, MC doesn't realizes that Wanli and ML are the same person because ML is always wearing a mask.

I don't remember how MC and ML realizes that ML and Wanli are the same person but eventually, they do realize that.

MC also becoming more used to the noise of the children, his daily life with ML, their ambiguousness etc but he knows he needs to leave so he does. Aside from finding out more about the mastermind, he needs to find something that can help stabilize Ning Xiu's soul.

Ning Xiu is made from the Linglong bone, his existence defies the heavens so his soul is always unstable. It's only through ML and the necklace given by the plant spirit that Ning Xiu's soul is holding on but they need another solution because it's not gonna work soon.

MC goes to Sang, she was actually 1 of Ning Xuyuan's friends and she is able to predict some things. She predicts that something that can help MC is in the Floating Realm. The floating realm is actually where Ning Xuyuan first found the linlong bone!

Next, MC encounters a Purple Knife/Sword. ML (through consciousness) helps MC take this sword. It turns out that this sword was made by a Cui ancestor who burned his son alive for 81 days (I think). In the end, ML and MC free the child from the sword and this child becomes their fourth child.

Then, MC meets Wang, someone who seems to be connected with the main villain, so he pretends to be him and meet up with Xie.

We actually see Xie multiple times before this already. He was there at Feng's sect where MC meets his dead friend. At that time, Xie told MC that he was a cook from Linggu sect that was hired by Feng's sect

Next, we see him in Wushi Sect and there's something really weird about this guy. He even instigates Chu Xi (one of the people MC saves in arc 1 to do bad things).

Then, Xie and Wang (it's actually MC just in disguise) attend a competition or something and Xie wants Wang to steal a cloud treasure (this treasure is actually something that MC was planning to get because it can stabilize his son's soul).

Fighting happened

the kids kinda get in trouble even though they didn't mean to

MC find out that Xie is actualy Cui Ci (his other bestfriend).

Through the fighting, they lured out Ning Fan who seems to be 1 mastermind behind all the schemes against MC and is working with Xie.

Ning Fan turns out to be a branch head of the Ning Family. He was actually the person who first "adopted" MC. He made MC cultivate the Path of Ruthlessness, he was only 6! He even clawed MC, tied him and forced MC to watch his parents die everyday in an illusion to force him to cultivate that path.

At the end of the fight, ML vanished in order to save everyone. MC and the children were heartbroken but MC feels like ML isn't really dead yet.

Btw, there was a time in this arc that ML wasn't himself because of the heart demon and he kissed MC, that was their first kiss hihihi

After 3 months, ML appeared before the MC and the kids again.

I forgot why it took that long, maybe he needed to recuperate or something

But when he got back, he gave MC like a ball that will help heal his dantian. ML said he remembers now, he remembers that he is actually Wanli. He waited for MC for a year. During that time, he actually forgot who he was waiting for but he knew he was waiting for somebody and while waiting, he defeated 10k monsters in the swamp in order to refine that ball which can help heal MC's dantian (remember, when MC met ML in that swamp, his dantian was also broken and coincidentally, his dantian is also broken now because of that fight from the beginning/that fight with the alliance)

MC/ML know that there is someone else behind Ning Fan and they want to lure him out. They figure out that Ning Fan and Xie are hiding near the Floating Realm so they go there.

There are a lot that happened in this arc so I wouldn't narrate it all and just give you the findings or scenes that leave me an impression:

• MC became drunk and went to the Floating Realm alone (he left ML behind). While waiting for ML, he found a hairpin that he thinks will look good on ML guarded by a fierce wolf. He thinks that the fur of this wolf will look good as a pen for ML lol. ML eventually finds MC but he is badly beaten, although he did win and gave ML his gifts.
• In order to find MC, ML made a spiritual contract between the, but drunk MC thought it was ugly and tinkered with it, he ended up making that contract a dao contract (for very very intimate people) where their thoughts/feelings would be transmitted to one another.
• It was only supposed to be ML and MC going to the Floating Realm. However, the kids ended up roasting an egg that turned out to be a dragon. This dragon got startled once and the kids ended up being transported to the Floating Realm. Plus, they got transported in different places haha. Honestly, it's frustrating when the kids get into trouble but they don't really mean it haha
• ML notices that there's something off about MC and when he asks him, it turns out that MC's master tomb is here, in the Floating Realm
• Ning Xiu got transported with the dog and someone wants to harm them. When this person noticed MC coming close, this person went away
• Next, MC went to save Jiang (his daughter) who ended up in a tomb. Once in the tomb, Jiang noticed a girl in the casket, a 6-8 yrs old girl who actually looks like herself when she was young! In the tomb, it says "Jiang Li, daughter of Ning Buwei" so it turns out to be MC's first daughter and she looks like her!
• MC went to save Feng next and he was entangled with a Yan guy who wanted to take over his body. Feng was save by an aunt/niece from the medicinal valley. The aunt dies so Feng asks MC if they can help the niece and MC says something funny about these people keep finding bro/sis for him to raise haha he also complains how people can't find him imposing now, how no one else in
  the entire realm fights bringing their kids/whole family haha

Some more things happened and it turns out that 1 of the sword fragments is in the tomb of MC's master (I think it's even in her body, which will force MC to destory her body) and there ended up being a fight inside MC's master's tomb.

Yan Yingrou (if I remember correctly) is a friend of Ning Xinguan who is a rogue cultivator. They met in the mortal realm.

Aside from Ning Xingyuan and YY, their group consists of Chu (the current head of the Wushi Sect and the Alliance), a monk, Sang (the one MC went to for divinition). But at that time, they were just 15-16 years old traveling in the mortal realm.

Before they go back to their realm/world, YY notices that something's wrong with NX and something might have happened to him. NX just said that he lost consciousness 3 months ago and he needed to recuperate that's why he is late or something.

Aside from that, we have scenes of YY teasing the monk in their group. She seems to have feelings for him and he also seems to kinda do.

Back to the immortal realm

It turns out that years before the Ning family disaster, Ning Xinguan and Sang divined that their spiritual world would soon collapse. They told the elders about this but no one believes them because they are young so they want to fix it themselves.

1 way to fix this is through the Linglong bone that NX showed them. YY even comments sarcastically that NX finds the Ning Family too peaceful so he brought out the Linglong bone (she says this because the Linglong bone can help people ascend, bring people back to life, etc and greedy people can purged the Ning family for the Linglong bone especially since NX himself is already powerful and a lot of people envy his Rejuvenation Array which can bring people back to life)

After some time, NX meets up with YY and hands over the Suzuka Sword (?) to her. He says that he divined that the Ning Family cannot escape a disaster and the only person that will escape is MC because MC was supposed to be dead all those years ago, he's only alive now because someone saved him and even gave a part of their life to MC.

Before NX left, YY noticed that someone is accompanying NX in the carriage but she doesn't know who this person is (I mentioned it because I think this is important but it's not yet revealed in the latest chapter I'm in)

After the disaster happened, she goes to the Ning city and Chu (1 of their friends) accuses her of telling people about the Linglong bone so the Ning family faced that disaster, it's only supposed to be their group that knows that NX has the bone.

YY and the monk have a parting scene here which was kinda heartbeaking.

YY finds out that NX actually hid the Linlong bone in the sword and in a note, his instruction is that YY should hide the bone and give it to Chu (their other friend) only when Chu becomes the head of the Alliance and he has it under control. YY tries to find a place to hide the bone and she thinks that the most dangerous place is the safest place so she plans to hide it in the Wushi Sect (the sect where Chu and ML belongs to)

She sets up some formations in what seems to be an abandoned peak and throws the bone in the lake. It actually ends up landing in a person! And right in this person's wound.

And yes, that person is ML and that's how the Linlong bone got ML's share of blood. 500+ years later, MC was hunted down by the alliance for stealing the bone and during the battle, MC's flesh and blood get absorbed by the bone and that's how a son (blood related to both ML and MC) was born.

Back to YY

YY finds MC and takes him in. There's an instance where MC tells YY that he wants to change his name because YY shouts MC's name on the street and the people who hear it end up hunting MC (people are mad at the Ning Family because of the disaster that happened and they think the Linlong bone is hidden by MC) so MC's name becomes Bu Wei.

YY doesn't want MC snooping around about what really happened about the Ning Family so they kinda have a falling out because of this.

YY goes to the mortal realm with the monk because she wants to investigate something while MC tries to investigate about the Ning Family and he gets hunted down and is always on the run.

It's at this time that MC goes to Wen (1 of his friend, a disciple of Feng's sect). He doesn't really want to cause Wen any trouble or implicate him but at that time, MC was very vulnerable and he just wanted to rest for a night so he was tempted by Wen's offer that Wen will hide him in his sect. Actually, MC even plans on living after sleeping/resting for a night but things happened and Wen died to save him.

Then, a disheveled YY (not revealed yet what happened) meets MC and they start traveling again.

20+ years past and during this time, they have a tacit understanding

of YY not forcing MC to stop investigating about the Ning Family and MC not asking what's YY doing on the mortal realm and why she goes there frequently

so they don't quarrel.

Then, YY does a revenge on the Yan family and MC feels like YY is going to do something that will put herself in danger because she's like trying to tie up lose ends.

YY knocks MC unconscious and sends him in the floating realm (I think) where it took him a long time to get out of.

Once out, it turns out that YY went to the mortal realm again and returned disheveled again/her powers low/something wrong with her cultivation. This gave the Yan family a chance to capture her in an array which was slowly killing her.

MC takes her away but

YY also sends MC away, telling him that she wants to see the monk and he needs to bring the monk there because she doesn't want to move from her spot.

When MC comes back, he realizes that YY just wanted him to go and not see her die. He finds a note from YY saying

YY tells MC that he should stop looking into the Ning Family's disaster, change his name, bury the sword and don't look back. She also wants fo be buried in the Floating Realm.

During the fight in the tomb, MC finds a pink pearl which he gave to the monk according to YY's instructtions.

MC also fights with a guy named Pei who seems to be the mastermind behind all that's happening.

When MC asks Pei who he is, Pei says MC knows exactly who he is. MC also admits to himself that this guy really seems to be NX (Ning Xingyuan) but also doesn't seem to be.

We also see a scene where Pei is resting with Xie (that guy who turned out to be Cui, a friend of MC). Xie considers Pei his master and it seems that Xie is not 100% in Pei's camp, Pei also mentioned about something like Xie doesn't have some of his memories

MC and ML recuperate in a cave, we have nice interactions here between the family. MC/ML also kinda confesses to each other, they don't say it bluntly but they are together lol

MC also mentions to ML that they need to have their own house because they can't keep bringing kids when they fight. And ML is amused by how MC says "our house".

Next, ML and MC goes back to the Floating Realm because they need to find out more about the Linlong Bone (considering Ning Xiu is made from the bone, and people are trying to get Ning Xiu, plus they want to unravel the mystery behind Pei, etc)

MC once asked ML if he thinks Pei is really NX and ML says NX doesn't seem to be the kind of guy that Pei is

considering that it turns out that

ML once was prying silver off the Floating Realm's gate lol and NX helped him. In return, ML helped NX get the Linlong bone. Once they got it, NX even offered splitting it in half but ML refused.

So ML thinks that someone who can even sincerely offer to half the Linlong bone wouldn't turn out to be someone like Pei.

My thoughts so far: I don't think Pei is NX. My current theory is that NX has a double personality OR when NX was 15-17 years old - he ended up sleeping with a mortal and this mortal gave birth to a son (remember how NX was worrying about something before NX and his friends returned tothe immortal realm)

Then, he only finds out years later but it was too late, NX already predicted that the Ning Family will perish. But maybe, it was NX's son that was with him in that carriage when he met YY (where he gave her the sword).

This son might know about MC's fate (it was said that MC's fate is to be a lone star and all people that he loves will die) so NX's son might blame MC for NX's death. So when the sword was broken, he put all the fragments into all the people that are important to MC because he wants MC to remember the pain of losing the people he loves.

That's just my wild guess, I'm excited to know what will happen next!
