Qi Feng grew up in a music hall, learning music skills and the six arts1. He was exceedingly handsome with a warm and gentle temperament, and a small mole on the corner of his lips that was particularly alluring. Many wealthy and powerful people looked forward to his coming-of-age, hoping to buy him out and keep him in a warm chamber.

One day, he was forced by a powerful official to go with them, but a young general who happened to pass by saved him. Qi Feng asked, “How can this s*ave repay the general?”

The general’s face was cold and proud, but his ears were red. He said, “When I come back victorious, can you play a song of Feng Qiu Huang2 for me?”

Qi Feng smiled. Among his admirers, not all of them were hateful people.

But three months later, he received the news that the general died on the battlefield.

When he woke up again, he had been reborn a thousand years later as a small-time celebrity in the entertainment industry, being harassed and forced in a nightclub.

Qi Feng wanted to escape, and suddenly he saw a man sitting in the corner of a private room. The man was exactly the young general who had saved him and made him wait for several months.

Pei Yan was forced to go to the nightclub by his friends, sitting alone in the corner smoking and passing time. A little star walked up to him and whispered, “Excuse me, can you take me away?”

Pei Yan’s eyes turned cold and he was about to refuse. But when he looked up, he saw the boy’s handsome and gentle face, and the slight mole on his thin lips was particularly eye-catching.

He couldn’t help but take the boy’s hand and bring him home.

Everyone who knew Pei Yan knew that he had a white moonlight in his heart. The white moonlight had a mole on his lips. Pei Yan practiced self-discipline and abstinence for that man, never indulging in any romantic affairs.

One day, there was a young and handsome boy with a faint mole on his lips by his side.

Everyone said, “Ha, President Pei finally can’t stand loneliness and found a substitute.”

At the same time, the little moonlight also learned the news.

He rushed back to China and stood in front of Qi Feng, pointing to his lip, saying, “You should leave now.”

Qi Feng packed his bags and left the Pei house neatly.

Pei Yan learned that rumors about him had spread to Qi Feng and decided to go back home to explain to him.

In order to make Qi Feng believe him, he even bought a pair of rings and roses.

But when he arrived home, he saw that Qi Feng had disappeared without a trace.

“Talented and versatile noble son who is currently experiencing hardship” Shou x “Cruel yet loving husband who is taciturn” Gong

The small mole on his lips is Pei Yan’s obsession with Qi Feng from his past life.

Unreliable review. I MTL'ed the whole thing.

The story had so much potential, unfortunately ML is the only well fleshed out character. MC is quite flat. I get that his character setting is restrained, but his resistance to ML up to the very end of the story makes me think that he doesn't really love ML the way ML loves him (understandable, given everything that happened, past and present). The backstory is not defined enough to justify ML's motivations, which leads me to believe that MC is just so damn beautiful... more>> that his love interests are willing to fight wars and betray comrades for him, because for sure none of his other attributes can cause that. His personality is not that stellar, nor is he particularly interesting. Just very, very beautiful. I feel like the only person MC truly loved was ML's dad, for his life saving grace, which I also do not understand since this person allowed MC to be sold as a musician in the past life. But this familial affection MC had for this uncle has been a big hindrance to ML and MC's relationship from start to finish, it's frustrating. I just felt bad for ML at some point.

Overall an okay read to kill time. Couldve been executed better, but maybe its the MTL that butchered it for me. <<less

The story had so much potential, it started off strong and I love a good dose of angst, but the way it progressed really had me annoyed. The villains were shallow and predictable, and the face slapping doesn’t even show the ending of the villains, they just disappear from the plot after getting exposed. MC had so much potential but really started to get on my nerves the way he kept acting like a victim and the way he treated ML the entire time. At the beginning he was a... more>> strong character and his choices were made to stand up for himself but the way he kept leading the ML on towards the end was so aggravating. There is literally no communication between the two of them, it’s just MC being a stone wall and ignoring ML’s repeated boot licking. <<less

Relatively straightforward and enjoyable at first. Then the plot becomes needlessly difficult for no reason. As someone else mentioned, it's annoying how long the wife chasing drags on for such a short novel. By the end you forget that ML really did make a mistake in the beginning and you just feel tired. Also the whole second ML storyline was not as clever as the author seems to think it was and the actions of MC left me baffled.

I do appreciate the length of the novel. Sometimes stories like this... more>> drag on 100+ chapters for no reason. I also would recommend reading this if you can just read it continously until the end. I was very busy this week so this took me 5 days to finish and that might have contributed to the wife chasing fatigue.

I think the current rating of 3.5 is correct but I will rate a 4 as a thank you to the translator. <<less

I hope others give this story more chance before actually deciding not to read it based from the average rating on this site. Honestly, if it was a normal day, I would have minded the ratings. But the premise seemed promising so I decided to give it a blind read and I didn't regret doing that. It also helps that this story was quite short, so it can be read in passing.

I actually enjoyed reading this. Some may argue that the MC could get annoying with how he treats the... more>> ML, but I personally don't find it irritating. I do agree with one review that the past didn't seem to be that elaborate for us to understand where the characters were coming from, so this might become some sort of a hindrance in trying to understand the actions of the characters in the story.

In my opinion, the author did alright in writing this one—brief and straightforward. It doesn't have to be so complicated and long.

I actually liked the MC. I could sympathize with his sentiments and reservations albeit others actually found some of his qualities exasperating or boring. I normally wouldn't like characters such as the ML, but this one didn't bother me at all. Yes, the antagonists may seem simple, but I think they're not the focus of this story and the emotional welfare of the main characters are more important, so I wasn't that particular about that part. And I think that the main conflict presented and manifested by the main characters were actually valid and how it was written out was kind of realistic.

Well, that's just my opinion. I hope some others actually give this one a try. Just drop it if you didn't happen to like it, simple. <<less

I enjoyed this story of reincarnation because there is no plot to kill and get revenge at scheming siblings or concubines.

Although the story is a slow burn story, I find the pace is just right. There wasn't a rush to reveal everything about being reincarnated.

I would say that this couple is really destined to be together. Fate finds away no matter which lifetime.

Why am I having such rotten luck finding something good to read. This started out really good. The MC is confident, calm, and talented. He's not blinded by money, and knows his value even when he's at his lowest. It didn't hurt that the smut came hard and fast.

I was really happy with where the story was going, with the back story slowly being revealed, with the delicious pairing of the power couple. Then the wife chasing started and just wouldn't stop. What's happening? Why is he doing so much... more>> wife chasing? Why is the MC so reluctant to acknowledge a relationship but willing to accept all the benefits? Perhaps we didn't see enough of the backstory to fully empathize with why the ML loves the MC so much, but at some point, it really did feel like a fan chasing an idol out of admiration and fascination with their aura and mystique and poise. But that just doesn't feel like true love; that feels like idolizing a crush.

And I understand the mc's concerns, but he just runs away without talking things through. He makes decisions based on the ml's father without even discussing with the ml. How does that make any sense?

In the end, I couldn't finish, even though it's such a short story. This has so much potential. And short stories can typically withstand a lot of minor flaws. But I ended up feeling so bad for the ml. I agree with friend Song (who I also felt horrible for - that's no way to treat a friend). The ML could have his pick of guys. Why is he so fixated on someone who is so resistant to him? If this was a qt arc, there'd be some protagonist slapping some reason into his obsession-filled head. <<less

I think this story had a good premise, but it honestly played out too realistically for me. The ML is very arrogant and taciturn and the MC is very introverted and reserved and gets embarrassed easily. They struggle with their relationship throughout the book and I honestly believe that's how it would go with their personalities. They're both not good at expressing their emotions or compromising and the author writes their characters very well but it leaves me feeling unsatisfied when I finished the book.

If you like those types of... more>> characters and that type of relationship though this might be up your alley - what is it called sometimes? Wife chasing to the crematorium? Something like that, where the ML makes mistakes and must try and win back the MC. Not for me though although I think it's written well enough. <<less

It's a good short story.

But the thing that annoyed me was the really unreliable manager for the MC. He was so annoying I wanted to stable his mouth shut every time he spoke.

And the MC too. He started off strong but towards the end, he was so annoying and insufferable. I didn't like his character at all and felt sorry for the ML the entire time. Tsk.

It was a good light novel with minimal plot and storyline in it. Author left somethings unfinished, as what actually happened to MC, how he died or transmigrated, MC 's side in the past. Author many times narrated MC's beauty of a novel ancient man, that I got bore of it.

At latter part MC kinda became little annoying but for a short time; a chapter or two. MC was too much of a introvert. ML was overbearing at first but the character development of his was positive. I liked ML... more>> more than MC.

It was a okay time pass. (◠‿◕) <<less

MC and a whole bunch of other characters are connected to each other from their past lives. The story is about how MC remembers their past life but ML doesn't and their relationship in this life starts off on the wrong foot. It's miscommunication after miscommunication. The author writes scenes that involve a lot of "this character didn't really hear what the other said" or "this character was too preoccupied to hear what the other said" or nobody says anything at all.

MC is written as this gentle, elegant, lofty character... more>> where he kind of ignores everything that happens around him. This is good in that he doesn't care about rumors and opinions of people that don't matter but the bad thing is that he can never just directly say what's going on. It's not even a tsundere type character because he only shows his concern when it's borderline too late. Tsunderes typically show their care in other ways other than words and MC doesn't show/say anything until things are dire. He constantly acts like a victim.

I actually prefer the ML way more. He gets a pass in the beginning because he thinks MC is using him but when he realizes his feelings, he immediately changes his actions. I would have rated it lower but there are redeeming moments but they're mostly scenes involving the ML. <<less

This book has the most obnoxious stuck up frigid MC you'll ever encounter. He makes the ML's life miserable. At one time I was even suspecting that the MC had a crush on the ML's father because every decision he made, even if hurt the ML he made it to make the old man happy. He was the real ML in the book.
If you're looking for romance this isn't it, it's actually an unrequited love story where the ML begs and humiliates himself and the MC is a haughty biatch.

I don't like the MC. He's confusing. Almost like he only confirmed his feelings for the ML at the last chapter because his worries are almost gone woth ML's father accepting them and ML's arranged marriage out of the picture (because the said fiance is in love with somebody else).

Though I like the moment where he saw his past selves manuscripts and saw the meaning of it and remembered some of his lost memories.
