I really enjoyed reading this novel. It has an interesting plot with unexpected twists throughout and the characters are unique in their own way. Highly recommend this novel.

I read this novel quite a while ago but I remebered it after reading heart protection because they are two very well written novels, except this one has a more gloomy plot atmosphere. By moving the setting of the novel this book is developed well and we see a fantastic character development. I loved it !

As another review expressed, I also wished that it was longer. The story is about the adventures of Lin Rufei, the youngest sibling of the Lin family (2 older brothers, 1 sister and a father who is in seclusion and we never meet) - he descends the Kunlun mountain for the first time to deliver some invitations and experiences life beyond his courtyard. The pacing is great. I just wished some characters' stories were extended in the extras.

The earlier chapters were really interesting because it leaves you with so much expectation for what MC will go through with his journey throughout the jianghu. However, as you go through each arc, you realize that MC is really just a narrator, and the ones who really drive the story are the individual characters of each arc. For me, I'm continuing to read this since the arcs are still enjoyable, I just hope MC can play a bigger part in the latter arcs (I doubt tho lol)

EDIT: No wonder, this has the same author as KoD, so the type of storytelling is really the same.

Definitely unsatisfied with how the novel ended. It was so rushed that the author wasn't able to put into detail how MC was able to build ML's body back. Also the events that lead up to that point were so disappointing. Sad as well for Wu Ao. If I were him, I would've wished MC didn't find me and just left me to die lol. All I can say is I wasn't wrong for giving this novel a 3/5.

This novel was one of the most ethereal novels I have ever read in my whole life. It was like I was viewing a beautiful scenery as it changed from one scene to another. The author wrote this novel so immaculately that it gave the novel a soul of it's own. The world built by the author didn't just remain a cluster of words but it came to life. While reading the novel, you would get so immersed into it that you would lose your sense of time and this is a huge deal for me because normally I would get fed up if the plot isn't intriguing enough and start skimming through the chapters. It is extremely rare for me to continue reading a novel and to not skip chapters. The plot was filled with mystery and whenever you thought you'd guessed what was going on, you would be stunned by a completely unexpected plot twist.

All the characters and their stories are unique and show a realistic perspective on life; on how not everything can ever be perfect. Not everyone can achieve what they want, possess what they want or even choose what they want, and even if you reach your desired destination, it may take a long time before you get there while enduring numerous hardships along the way.

I had a lot of fun while reading this novel and will for sure revisit this novel again in the near future. Honestly, I didn't want to finish reading this novel because it was just so fascinating to read it but there is no banquet in this world that doesn't come to an end. <<less
