She was a villainous woman who became obsessed with her fiancé, committing all kinds of evil. She even tried to kill herself but her family did not even blink an eye.

Whether it’s my family or fiancé, I don’t have to cling to it, do I?

“I’m breaking off our engagement.”
“…What?”
“Let’s put an end to our relationship. The seat of His Majesty’s fiancée, I held it like it was the last gift of my life. I’m sick of it.”

But not only my family who treated me like an invisible person, but also my fiancé is still interested in me?
Even the men who denied the fact that I was dead in my previous life gathered one by one…!

“You shouldn’t have fed a starving dog like that.”

…..I want to live quietly, but why is everyone bothering me?

I usually don't give ratings so early but the many 1-star ratings has confused me.

Till chap 4, I like it. I like the MC. I am interested to see where and how the story goes.

I personally found the TL understandable and the writing, fairly good.

Will wait for more chaps before giving the final rating.

The opening seems to be trying to rope the reader in with confusion. There's three POVs maybe more, none of which have enough material to say what's happening. There's words and phrases that seem to be thrown together. Ex "soul infused crossbar" ?? It's a weapon?? I really felt I was reading something written by a writer on an acid trip.

Maybe it will get better later but the opening is poor.

I really hope that Icarus is the ML not the prince (Yeah Icarus should be the ML). The MC's family situation reminds me of DTOEFTV but if Penelope isn't trying to gain the favours so she could live. Translator nim please don't drop this.

If you’re looking for a story where the MC completely ignores her neglectful family and makes them regret it, this isn’t it. The novel had potential, but the execution fell flat. The neglect wasn’t really explored, so I couldn’t connect with or feel the original Seraphine’s suffering.

In less than 5 chapters, she’s getting along with Joshua and her grandmother, with Erez by chapter 10, and even her father by 30+. There’s no groveling, and everything resolves so quickly it felt like, “Oh, she’s been really sick all this time? Okay,... more>> let’s pay attention now.”

Spoiler

Joshua, the tsundere brother, comes off as someone who cares but just isn’t good with words, which is why he and the original Seraphine didn’t get along. He checks on her when she’s sick, but his harsh words lead to arguments. The MC, though, immediately gets him and treats him like a younger brother.

As for Erez, once the MC tells him how hurtful it is that he always blames her, he changes his attitude right away. Then there’s this whole twist where he gets possessed by the soul of her ex-fiancé from her past life because of a weapon she made, and only the MC can handle it. So naturally, they start to get along.

I stopped reading when it looked like the MC was going to forgive the Duke. He’s not as awful as some other neglectful dads in these types of stories. He’s not affectionate with any of his kids, just gives them whatever material things they need, and even paid the royal family to keep the engagement going, which the original Seraphine wanted.

What I don’t get is how the family didn’t notice she was self-harming, especially after multiple su*cide attempts and fainting spells. Wouldn’t a doctor have pointed this out at some point? They were so shocked when the grandma told them about her bruises and self-inflicted wounds.

I also didn’t understand why they neglected or hated her in the first place. I thought they knew her mother died because she absorbed the latter’s mana. But apparently, they didn’t? And when the MC finally explained, they quickly said to her that she wasn’t to blame because she was just a kid at the time. It turns out, they hated her because they thought she was pushing them away, not realizing she was scared she might kill them if she got too close.

[collapse]

it feels like the author wanted to build up a lot of drama, but since the family stopped neglecting her in less than five chapters, I just couldn’t get into it. There wasn’t enough time to feel the weight of the neglect or the impact of her suffering. The emotional build-up just fell flat. <<less
