Daiki Yanagi, a corporate s*ave working at a black company, gets off the train just before the last train. As he exits the station, he saves a beautiful woman from a nasty fall after she misses a step on the stairs. Shortly after, he encounters a beautiful woman struggling to gather the contents of her spilled bag in front of a luxury apartment building. As he helps her pick up her belongings, Daiki, exhausted from his daily grind, feels dizzy and collapses.

He wakes up in a luxurious apartment, the home of the beautiful woman he helped earlier–Reika Kisaragi, a young and beautiful company president. He takes a shower and learns about what happened after he fainted. As lunchtime approaches, he finds himself being fed–by the beautiful older woman.

“Delicious! I can’t believe you can make such amazing food with the limited ingredients in this house!”

“Well, I am the son of a Western restaurant owner.”

This encounter marks the beginning of a deepening relationship between the corporate s*ave and the young, beautiful president.

“What? You can’t change jobs because you haven’t saved enough money? –Then why don’t you live here? You’ll save on rent.”

“You should quit that company already. You don’t have to worry about living expenses while you’re here–okay?”

“You know, you don’t have to work yet, right? You should rest a little longer, okay?”

“Well, it’s been a month since I quit.”

“It’s only been a month! You should rest for another… six months, no, a year!”

“That’s too long!”

Thus begins a battle between Daiki, who wants to work a normal job, and Reika, who wants him to stay at home (and cook for her).

This is a romantic comedy for adults.

I read the trans, and advance to raw novel... Very wholesome, if I say.. Very refreshing, and tbh I love this... Too much insulin, for adults ofc...

Not recommended for those who easily get bitter, wants harem tag, and idiots whose life is very low....

I'm expecting great from the translator who pick this awesome novel..

{edit-v73}

Spoiler

They really need bed, tbh....

{edit-v93}

I would like to recommend this novel to all the youngsters who are planning to get a job or a new job....

The novelupdates synopsis actually doesn't do this story justice. This story is much better than it sounds. The story is a slow burn innocent romance between Daiki and Reika. Themes in the novel are food p*rn, income class differences, and black and white workplaces.

Daiki, is underpaid, overworked, and disrespected at a good work place turned bad. While a little beat down, he is not a dumb protagonist and does know that he is mistreated and wants to quit. Unfortunately for him, his borderline finances from meager pay and OT... more>> wage theft, and his feelings for the young team he manages and protects prevents him from leaving. He is single but much too overworked to meet people.

Reika meanwhile is a young, attractive, single, and rich president of a company that she and her friends founded. While her work life is full and fruitful, but her personal life leaves much to be desired. She comes home to meals of instant ramen in a large empty high class cond*minium apartment. The guys she meets are more interested in her body and wealth than actually getting to know her.

One fateful night, while dizzy from exhaustion, Daiki catches Reika before she falls down a set of concrete stairs. After a short conversation, Daiki and Reika depart expecting never to see each other again. A short time later, Daiki recounters Reika outside her apartment building madly scavenging through her purse for a keycard. The purse over turns and the contents splatter out onto the ground. Daiki decides to help her out again but unfortunately pushes his body to far. Upon standing up he collapses from work exhaustion.

Afterwards, Daiki wakes up in Reika's apartment. They talk, get to know each other, and enjoy their time together becoming friends. Reika offers Daiki instant food which causes him to ask if he can cook for her. This allows him to capture Reika's stomach thereby guaranteeing continued chances to meet and cook.

This novel is actually about two lonely people first becoming friends which than how they become more. It is not a typical man save a woman, and woman magically falls deep in love just because kind of story.

I really do hope the translator continues. I read to the current chapter using google translate which leaves much to be desired! <<less

it's description is almost like a bait because it's in later (much) later part they start cohabiting.

but don't get me wrong it's good.

reality (japanese) office life without much fanfare, japan work culture, food prn, and ofc sweet sweet romance without much drama (at this point)

Unfortunately it seems to be abandoned as no new chapters have been releases since December 2021. It's a shame, really as the story is really nice and sweet (unless you absolutely dislike cooking, because cooking takes quite some space in the story... ;-)

I can't say that my review is good but at least I know the good side of this novel.

All I can say about this novel is "amazing". Conversation between characters is very natural, relationship development is also not too fast and forced.

If you are looking for a novel with a slow plot but with a little heavy drama, maybe this novel can be your choice. The main character (Daiki) isn't too naive either, you could say he's very mature by seeing how he manages his relationship with Reika and solves... more>> the problems of his juniors.

Spoiler

He even dared to scold his 2 superiors, the president and the section chief directly in front of the other staff

[collapse]

I myself am very curious how Daiki and Reika's relationship will continue. Unfortunately, this novel has stopped being updated by the author, and volume 3 LN takes stories from the newest WN. So, what happened after the job interview at SMARK SKRIM is unknown. And it's a shame that the illustration quality for volume 3 dropped so badly, it looks like it was drawn in a hurry. <<less

Up to c5 read so far. Its very detail heavy and slow in the beginning, just setting up the premise and not progressing much, but I think I'll continue for a bit to see how it progresses. I don't like the heavy food aspect and also don't like the corny stuff like her laughing at his wearing her apron and that taking up almost a whole half chapter or so, when it was neither funny nor amusing to me. Might drop, pretty bad but has potential imo.
