Xia Yinan’s hobby is to lurk in a psychiatric hospital pretending to be a patient. Every time he opens a door, he can travel to different worlds, where:

– In a post-apocalyptic world where everyone possesses supernatural abilities, he comes face-to-face with the undead

– In a joyful (yet explosion-prone) interstellar colony he creates a harmonious city with gang leaders

– On a spaceship heading to the stellar sea, he flirts with a certain officer in the command center

But why does someone keep following him into every world? How did Mr. Li from the neighbouring hospital room manage to track him down?!

Li Shuo: ●v●

Xia Yinan: ???

The Serious Version:

Within the darkness, an unknowable presence stirs. Made of shifting lines and formless text, it glows with the light of ancient times. Through swirling clouds and the abyss’s silent storms, it makes an offer — “You still have a chance to change this world as you wish.”

“No, I refuse,” Xia Yinan said slowly, “I have already won this game.”

Hi all! Translator here!

I've seen some comments about the story being confusing, so I wanted to share a few thoughts:

This novel doesn't explain everything right away—and that's on purpose! Instead of telling you everything upfront, it drops you into the story and reveals things bit by bit as you go.

What makes this different from typical "world-hopping" novels is that it's not mainly about exploring new worlds. It's really a story about time travel, lost memories, and identity, where figuring out what's happening to the main character is part of the... more>> journey.

Our MC isn't keeping secrets from us readers—he's actually just as confused at times! He's putting together the pieces of his own identity as the story unfolds, and we're discovering things alongside him.

The story mixes horror, sci-fi, romance, and some world-hopping elements, but what it really focuses on is humanity's fight against god-like beings across time.

You might enjoy this if you like:

Stories that slowly uncover their mysteries

Storylines that jump between different times

Creepy horror vibes

A slow-burn romance

It does take some patience in the early chapters, but the emotional payoff at the end makes it worthwhile! Hope that helps. <<less

Im sorry if this review is bad but im updating it little by little to keep track of everything LOL

Not your typical QT: no system but the MC seems to have a clear (?) goal as he is trying to go back to his homeland.

It's a heavy plot oriented book and the romance will probably come in the later part of the novel. It's interesting because unlike the usual trope, MC has no obligation to fall in love with someone/ have restriction about not going OOC/ is forced to follow... more>> a certain plot.

He may comes off as apathetic but he's not as indifferent as he lets himself appears at first: only a passerby accomplishing a goal and then going back to the mental hospital.

ML appears very quickly and he's very clingy toward the MC, always showing his support despite being rejected rather harshly by MC. He seems like a cheerful person and adores teasing MC. arc 1 - minor spoilers

C1-C63

Spoiler

Apocalyptic with very advanced technology that kinda reminds me of holographic.

MC is a professor that is trying to develop a cure for the infected. He also meet someone from the same mental hospital but doesn't realize it's a person from the same 'world' as him.

He had already world hoped before this, but it's unknown since when he has been able to do so.

There's a lot of foreshadowing about the MC unusual past as well as his relationship with ML who seems to know a lot about MC and why he can leaps through different worlds

He rested his chin on Xia Yinan's shoulder, his breath warm, and whispered: "I can't do much. I can only watch you reach the end

I promise, whether it's glorious triumph or complete defeat, I'll be by your side."

We progressively see how MC and ML gets closer and also discover that there's more than meet the eyes with the infected people but also on the human side.

The supporting characters are pretty much developed so it's a plus since usually they're kinda 2D background characters.

arc 2 - minor spoilers

c64-c86

Spoiler

I can't be 100% sure but this world takes its root in the former world MC was. It may be the former world that has developed but several decades after.

ML is a general from the alliance while MC is from the underworld.

It's pretty much a mysterious arc as the we can see MC is getting more proficient in controlling himself but it also interrogates because the MC seems to be part of some huge scheme..?

Also, it is said multiples times that it's unsure whether MC and ML are still human.

In this arc, MC shows godly power and also show a strong affinity toward what

shouldn't be known, as if it was somehow linked to the shadow of his past.

Once again, the world is saved and their mysterious journey which end is still unsure continues: There was no information about Xia Yinan, and the journey would continue. The planet already had enough momentum to move toward a brighter tomorrow.

ML and MC also confirm their relationship which made me quite happy since I thought it would take longer.

[collapse]

arc 3 - minor spoilers

c86-c92

Spoiler

There's two "worlds" where they keep getting pulling into.

One where a mysterious child clings to them and the other that is the genesis of the 2nd arc, before the empire disappeared.

We learn that MC was part of a certain organization that studies higher beings which explains why he's able to cross through "worlds".

This is quite confusing because everything seems to be going very well but obviously, this peacefulness is only the calm before the storm and the end of this arc is quite tragic.

Also, by the end of the arc, MC is now unable to travel freely through the doors as he used to.

It was 1989. Paint peeled from white walls, and glass bore scratches. Old radio songs mingled with sunlight as sparkling waves reflected a solitary lighthouse

[collapse]

Intermediate arc

c93 -c94

Spoiler

We see the interaction between someone surnamed "Xia" and a a boy in the industrial era of England.

There isn't much to say as it is short.

[collapse]

Arc 4- minor spoilers

c95- c102

Spoiler

MC has recovered all his memories I think.

He is a traveller/ researcher that travel through space to studies planets and also encounter higher beings along the way.

He has a dispatcher and talks to him about his backstory.

This retelling allow us

to discover who are MC's parents and they're, unsurprisingly, both from the organization that study higher beings.

MC's father is not often home as he is the one exploring around the world and fighting against a powerful and bellicose higher being that MC will also meet in the future.

We discover little MC as well as little ML' childhood/ teenage years.

I won't spoil the ending but as promised, we learn everything about the mystery surrounding the MC and omg it's tragic.

Through their long companionship, the youth's affection evolved into something different. Love that is eternal and magnificent, both cursed and celebrated.

[collapse]

Ending

C 103-105

Spoiler

After the final battle, MC and ML can finally enjoy their time together.

It's a sweet and happy ending!!!

[collapse]

Ok, I finally completed it! I also wanted to leave a comment on the website but it wouldn't let me so I'll say it here: Thanks a lot translator for this high quality translation and for the notes that help understand everything that has happened since there was a lot.

A personal recommandation for those who liked this novel:

"Haunted places live" which has a lot of themes in common with this one.

(I put the common themes in this spoiler so if you truly want to go blindly in the story, DO NOT READ, because it will spoil you a BIG part of the ending of the novel)

Spoiler
  • Parallel worlds
  • Fight against higher entities
  • Hastur/ King of Yellow as one of the main antagonist
  • A mystery to slowly unravel with MC and ML that previously knew each other.

What is going on?

This novel seemed to be interesting take of Unlimited Flow genre but it was different on its uptake and its arrangement, which made explaining what is going on important. But no, the story starts delving to the first world, but it lacked explanation. Like what is going on?

There are books that info dumps you and there's this one who thinks it'll be a good reading experience not to explain anything for the first 10 chapters and keep the readers make some inferences that may or not be... more>> true about what is going on. Which was frustrating. Delving in a new world was already frustrating what's with the limited information given, the author thinks it would also be cool to not explain why the hell the MC was in that world.

The author made it a mystery, only unveiling little by little, on why the hell this MC was transmigrating from world to world. Which was detrimental itself to those who read it. Imagine reading someone who you could not hear some monologues or offer any explanation as they go to a new world, and you just watched them move, I felt detached to the character.

I don't know anything about him except for his name. What his capabilities, his history or even general information was beyond me. Right as the story goes, he was already in a new world with a new identity the even the MC did not know who. But the frustration did not end there, he also go over the world but done in time skips, damn he was also not disclosing enough information to the readers. You just gotta learned little by little.

Apparently during those time skips that was not shown to the readers, he learned the world history and current status of such in that world but he would not disclose it to the readers, they would do it little by little.

How are we going to comprehend the world if the narrator was taking a hiding approach? The very purpose of quick transmigration, or unlimited flow novel, was to introduce new worlds to the reader and make them, together with the MC, explore it.

Then they later explained why the hell the MC suddenly came to that world, but the MC or the narrator was not disclosing everything or even enough information to the readers.

There's so much veiled info just for the sake of being mysterious that at this point I was already fed up. I can't keep guessing the world building, then revealing my inferences are wrong, it's tiring. This should be willingly offered to ensure comprehensibility.

The story could be good, but the writing style was not my ideal reading form.

It also affects the MC connection to the readers. There is so much we don't know about the MC, that caring for whatever he's doing just made it uninteresting.

I feel there is a potential to this, but this book suffered from finding a good starting point.

Anyway this might just be personal, and it might be workable to others. In hindsight, the new world they entered was interesting and it had solid world building, I just wished it was forthcoming with the NECESSARY information, but it lacked. <<less
