The protagonist has reincarnated into the body of the capture target’s dying younger brother in the fantasy ADV otome game, “Trickster Dreams in the Mirror.”

Though the sickly protagonist regains the memories of his former life, his personality did not carry over. This is the story of a supporting character whose only role was to die, breaking flags so that he may struggle to live even a little longer. As a result, this is a story of a slightly different flag that was broken.

  • I'm only a few chapters in but so far it is a really great series! It focuses on a guy who has been reincarnated, I believe. He ends up awakening from the dreaming disease, where if one possesses to much Mana their body cannot take it and they end up in kind of a coma like state until they eventually die. However the protagonist is able to wake up from it and is the first to do so! I like how the novel is very realistic in the sense that after the protagonist wakes up he is very weak from being in a comatose like state and can barley talk, let alone move! So he must rely on those around him for help..... keep in mind this is a yaoi novel :} this all happened in the first chapter so it is not a spoiler. If you are a fujoshi then it is very, VERY likely you will enjoy this novel. If you are unsure if you will like it I say you should try reading a few chapters then you will know for sure. It is also only 18 chapters, so if your looking for a short good read then I recommend. In addition this is an interesting novel in that Sheryl, the protagonist, was supposed to die in the otome game but due to recalling his past memories he was able to regain his health and wake up, so it will be interesting in how he changes the course of how the otome game was supposed to go.

Although the plot devices used are cliche, the execution is good. There are no dumb characters which otome game authors tend to do regarding the game heroine. Everyone's motivations are understandable. There were some 'huh???' moment about the magic system but it works, I guess.

This is definitely not designed for those who are looking for a fulfilling and extricate plot line or characters. This novel is basically a temporary relief, like a short m*sturbation. The MC is likable and one of his most redeeming qualities, in my opinion, is that his personality isn't deeply changed by the memories of his past life. It's an interesting difference from the usual trope. His character is a bit confusing at times as he is sometimes a saint, sometimes a sadist, and sometimes a shy and cute animal.... more>> There are moments where he goes OOC

All in all, this novel isn't worth investing a great amount of effort to read, it's a passing feeling of ecstasy. It's enjoyable and the smut can get pretty hot. I'd rate it a 3 but people should try it out. I may have made it sound worse than it actually is... <<less

This is such a good BL novel. The MC in the novel keep fighting with the disease and try to find a good method to cure it for him and the people who got inflicted, but in the end he got a good method to cure it with logic in it.

Theres also smut, well lots of smut, but they doesnt make the story bad though.

Chap 1 part 2, as I began reading I thought there might have been an error and I was sent to another novel since it started with a random person having s*x. But I kept reading and it turns out it was part of the novel, which still doesn't make any sense to me. No plot, no character development, characters very one dimensional. For some reason, the MC annoyed me. He was too polite with everyone. All the time. Also, I'm not sure if his weird mana-extraction technique should be publicised since there seems to be that awkward side effect of making the person or**sm as the mana is being extracted... Neither the MC nor his servants (who volunteered as guinea pigs) seem to think that orgasming in front of their master is weird either.

This is a strangely addictive novel. It isn't anything special but it's so fun and SO smutty... well... it's something like a guilty pleasure I suppose. I'm grateful towards the translator's efforts.

wow, heavy on the smut and not much else.

also, why do all the boy characters have female names? It makes it really confusing. The grammar and syntax isn't the best to begin with and having them all have girl names on top of working my way through the chapters just added to the confusion. I guess it's socially ingrained into me that when I see names like nichole or charlotte or sheryl my brain brings up images of b**bs, not boy parts, and it made the whole novel a little... more>> surreal.

but if your looking for lots of smut and some kinky nipple play than this might be for you. <<less

Like some reviewers before me it wasn't as much smut as I expected there would be. The plot has an interesting concept but shallow execution. I feel like they could have done more with it.

The supposedly tense situations and obstacles? don't stir up emotions either. The face slapping? if it can be called that, is like bland soup. The "misunderstanding scene"... is also devoid of feeling, I feel like my heart is flat lining at how incredibly unmoving and unbothered I am by it. I don't even feel remotely threatened... more>> by the antagonists, cries.

I mean, are you kidding me.. MC's secret ability has so much potential for it to become even spicier and they only scratched the surface... that kind of disappointing feeling. At first I was a bit excited because the MC's delicate appearance didn't match his behavior when he's "treating" his patients. And I was looking forward to the premise of an MC that actually hooks the LIs for once and has them at his mercy. But sighhh..... wasted opportunity. Not to mention the ending felt rushed and it was not satisfying at all. At least have a scene at the end with the ML. ARGH. Why is it smut when there isn't even much action with the ML, of all people.

I know plot is something I don't come to expect when it comes to smut but this kind of fell flat at both ends. Like a mediocre in between. If you want it to be one of them, at least commit.

As far as JP character naming sense when it comes to non JP characters, I guess it can't be helped? A number of male characters' names sound feminine (Sheryl, Camille, Nicole...) and the one supporting female character's nickname is Will. Not sure if it's the author's intent but I had to rename them in my head as I was going along because it was messing with my immersion. <<less

I hesitated for a long time whether to leave a comment on this novel. But in the end, you read it.

Since before I was always interested only in highly cultured novels with complex and gradual relationships, a rating (ero) and the fact that this is a japanese novel made it very difficult for me to read. I actually tried to get through the text; I got the feeling that I was trying to read manga, but without pictures. This was probably the worst: there was a feeling of some kind... more>> of emptiness and meaninglessness. At the very beginning, a certain eroticism of the situation still added a piquant note to the story, and the author’s attempt to impose a plot on the erot*c seemed more or less successful. But the further it went, the more empty the text became.

The most vivid impression was left by Nicole and Noe, as well as their young owner and his love of experimentation. Frankly, I would prefer their trio in the finale. In the "beautiful prince" there is nothing beautiful except his appearance, which even "in words" hurts the eye. I never liked the otome, in which the undoubted priority is given to some kind of "guy №1", not to mention the fact that their dialogs and attempts to "flirt" emanating from Raphael consist of continuous cliches. And I’m still omitting a dumb brocon who doesn’t look like cute and cozy, but like an actual vulgar insanity. I managed to read it, because the novel is small. But to be honest, it was a waste of time for the most part... <<less

3.5 stars:

- Smut was good (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)

- A pleasant surprise to a few cliche moments.

- I felt a bit mislead into what the MC's personality would be after getting his memories.

- The plot was okay for the length but needed more for the solutions to the problems that arose to settle properly.

- Also gonna complain for the tears that were shed when I fooled near the end (ノಠ益ಠ) ノ I want my tears back!!!!!

I like the novel's plot from the beginning and I'm attracted to it since it had a smut tag. The smut scenes were fire but I think it can be made better through a more detailed-written one.

The harem boys are cute and had their own personality points. I liked the MC the most because of his cute domineering attitude.

It's pretty. I'm a fan of the magic school type of set-ups and underdog characters so this one really caught my eye. It's pretty much what it says on the tin though: smutty yaoi romance set in a fantasy world. At the moment, it focuses more on the relationships between the characters with the fantasy element just pushing things between them to progress. The protagonist is the selling point for me. He's very endearing and charismatic, what you'd find from the "cute genius little brother with a sad background but earnestly does his best" type of character really. But! He's also interestingly multi-faceted. He looks innocent, is truly kind, and shows definite skill but he's also cunning, street-smart, and willing to go hard on people. Honestly reminds me a tiny bit of Ciel Phantomhive from Kuroshitsuji but swinging more to the "warm and kind" bracket and a lot less bratty. This is bound to be one of those stories where you get some of your high from the protagonists achievements.

It's worth the read and shows a lot of promise to become a lot more interesting. <<less

Maybe it's the translation but most smut scenes just came out of nowhere. It was kinda boring, actually. I don't even feel the MC and ml's chemistry. And also, is the MC weak or strong? Like make up your mind, please. I was also really bothered about how he could've saved a kid's life but he didn't cuz he felt that his technique was not for a kid and it was too pe*verted. I mean, sure he had a point but isn't that for the kid's parents to decide? Surely... more>> the embarassment and shame would be worth it if the kid could live? The MC is also too weak like emotionally. Oftentimes, I felt like he had completely become one of those ladies. Such a damsel in distress. He also forgave too easily. I gave points for the translators tho. Although the translation is not perfect and it's a bit hard to navigate their page, you can see that they worked hard on it. So there's that. Still, I lost interest halfway but continued cuz I was bored. Would not recommend even for a light read. <<less

Me before reading: oh, it's short. I can just give it a try since I won't be using much time.

Me after c1:... yeah no, I can't do this. I'm out.

No rating because I honestly am not sure how I'd rate this. Emotionally, I wanna rate it 1, but objectively it's probably more of a 3 or 2? I read a few chapters after c1 just to be fair, but honestly it's just a badly done smutfest. "Teenage fic smut", essentially.

There's hints of an interesting plot that could've been fun if... more>> this was a more serious webnovel, and the last chapter was actually interesting ignoring the smut. I'm just disappointed, but at least it's so short that I didn't waste much time. <<less

The thing is that, their character's development is a bit confusing to me. The story itself isn't that bad. But to me it isn't really that good.

but like MC is cute and stuff so I guess I'm a bit biased to this.

and some characters are like once introduced and you expect that it'll appear as something but then they we're forgotten till the end.

I couldn't get past the prologue. The story seems interesting, though nothing ground-breaking, but the translator seriously needs an editor. Unfortunately, the translation was completed a while ago so the translator is unlikely to come back to this to do some editing.

The mistakes aren't spelling mistakes; They're a case of tense shifting. The story is mostly in past tense, but the translator will regularly shift to present tense mid-sentence and it makes it impossible for me to enjoy the story.

The first and second paragraph should have 'awakened' instead of 'awakens',... more>> 'slept' instead of 'sleeps' and 'there were' instead of 'there are'.

I can accept one mistake every 500 words. After all, everyone makes mistakes, and you can miss something while editing. But three mistakes in the first two paragraphs is too much. Additionally, many paragraphs aren't properly separated with a line of empty space. They lack that 'add a space after a paragraph' feature which means certain paragraphs are glued together in bunches, while others are separated properly.

If you can look beyond that, then you might find a really great story. Unfortunately for me, I cannot look beyond the tense-shifting and paragraph formatting. It's jarring and ruins my sense of immersion. As it is, I shan't be reading beyond the prologue.

If a new translator picks this up then I'll take a look. If not, I'll check in six months to see if the current translator has seen my review and gotten an editor. It's unlikely, but who knows, right?

It's a shame because I love these otome game transmigration stories, especially when they're BL. I was ready to love this, but the quality wasn't there. <<less

I will just drop my review here in case it can help you decide whether to read this novel or not.

Personally, I don't like this series. I almost can't finish it. The MC is very soft, too soft to the point that it's annoying. The middle to later part of the story is mainly the emphasis of how fragile his maiden heart is (The last 2 chapters save him and the entire story, though) Although he's likeable, and seems smart at first, he doesn't act like one in the later... more>> period. He also goes out of character from times to times. His character direction is the messiest of all people, even though many characters are surprisingly inconsistent enough already.

The story is very simple. At the same time, it's damn confusing as there are always random elements popping up here and there. I try not to overcriticize it since it's just a short story with only 18 chapters, but I really can't help it. It's too frustrating. The MC made me feel irritated with his insecurity for half of the story, it's unbearable.

Meanwhile, the ML is practically like a side character here. Other than interacting with MC (also in the weirdest way possible), he did nothing else. I don't get it. Why did the writer put the ML in the story for such an idiotic romance? And despite him being invisible af, his existence is the cause of MC s*upidity. Lol seriously, this man is the true definition of 'love makes people a fool'. I am sorry to say, but I don't like this at all. <<less

the characterization is quite all over the place. The first half of the story seems to paint MC as a little sad*st then somehow he turned into a fragile white lotus. Its like the author want to make a racy story at the beginning and somehow they acquire a maiden heart and decide to do the usual cool seme x weak uke thingie. I don't mind either personality, but preferably don't change the character too much I get a whiplash.

I first read this a few years ago, and I had a lot of fun while reading it because it's similar to those "transmigration into BG romance novel only to bend the straight male lead (s) " type plots except this is a BG romance game world instead of a BG romance novel world. It's similar in plot to the webtoon called Stuck in My Sister's Dating Sim (which came out more recently; that webtoon is more comedic though). It also has similarities to Online Dating Boyfriend is Actually an... more>> Alien (sickly character), although that novel is better quality. I wouldn't exactly say the writing style is wonderful (people who are used to danmei will maybe need to adjust their mentality a bit when reading both Korean and Japanese novels), and there are some questionable (or funny? depends on your POV) elements where the MC helps sick people with what amounts to a s*xual healing technique. But I just happen to enjoy this type of trope (stealing the MLs from the heroine) a lot, so I gave it 4 stars. I do think this MC has a soft/weak nature but if every single MC is always more assertive/dominant or OP that is also a little boring (since not all people have the same types of personalities IRL)... it's sometimes refreshing to read about MCs with this type of personality. As for the reason why I didn't rate it 3 and not 4 stars, is because this MC has a severe illness and his initial situation is very similar to both my niece and myself (both with debilitating chronic illnesses that lack a cure) so I found that I could empathize with his situation quite a bit. I tend to find these types of books with sickly characters a bit triggering (depressing) but still worthwhile to read because it's nice to imagine someone getting cured from a terrible illness and finding a happy ending.

A note on the translation: I read the original fan TL and I prefer that version, so the second time I went back to read it I found the archive copy. There are some parts you can misunderstand by reading the KnoxT version. <<less
