The super cowardly me installed Super Coward Mode, and the terrifying extraterrestrials started to look cute.

This review is heavily subjective and is based on my personal opinion.

TL;DR: The MC is transported into a horror game full of Eldritch horrors, but thanks to a mod, he sees everything as cute and harmless. His ability grants mental immunity but no physical strength, leading to dangerous situations where he can't assess his injuries because of the filter. While he sees everything as normal, everyone else is trapped in a dark, terrifying world, though he is aware that anything in that world can kill him, he's not oblivious to the dangers present in the story. The story is unique and promising, earning an 8/10 for me.

Let's break down the story first. The MC is thrust into a horror game filled with Eldritch horrors, referred to as Outsiders in this... more>> fantasy world. Interestingly, he never actually played the game before because he was too scared. So, before he got transported, he downloaded a mod to make it less terrifying. That mod essentially turned into a mental immunity ability after he got transported.

One of the things I really appreciate is that the protagonist isn't physically overpowered. There are misunderstandings, sure, but survival isn't a cakewalk for him. While everything looks cute and eccentric in his eyes, the reality for everyone else is a dark fantasy filled with gore, death, Eldritch horrors, unimaginable entities, and deadly objects.

His ability grants him a range of mental protections: immunity to mental erosion, fear immunity, affinity with Outsiders, the ability to read cursed texts, and even a form of gaslighting that convinces him he's okay. It's similar to the Berserk Armor from Berserk in how it works, but instead of boosting his physical prowess, it enhances his mental resilience. He's unfazed by the horrors around him and remains composed, even if he's severely injured. The downside is that he can't properly assess his physical condition, which could lead to some serious trouble. His body basically functions as a game character.

Essentially, while the MC perceives everything as normal, for everyone else, it's an absolute nightmare. Also, don't forget the fact that the world he is in is a dark fantasy world, people will die, allies or foes, there is no exceptions.

Overall, this is a very promising story that delivers a unique twist on the usual horror themes. I'd give it an 8/10. 5 stars to bump up the rating.

PS. I really like the side-characters in this novel, especially Hunter and Agartha, they literally form an eccentric trio together, I love them.

It's pretty good, the world is like Bloodborne but worse for everyone else but the MC so hilarity insues. It's like game cutscenes with modded goofy characters added in, the supposedly beyond comprehension outer gods wearing bunny suits and the strongest fighting force of humanity being literal furries who beat monsters to death with toy weapons.

A tragedy for everyone else, comedy for the protagonist.

This is a point of view novel.

MC play horror jumpcare dark souls game where the world is very very dark grim depresing and the monster is very scary that can make you lose sanity if you look at them.

Because our MC is very coward he install a mod that overhaul point of view for player only.

... more>> Remove anything scary, make the scary monster into a very cute moe waifus, dark grim world overhaul to beutiful fantasy world.

Remember player view only, his point of view.

Not the people from the game, other people around MC still look the world as very dark grim depresing world with scary monster everywhere, death every, gore everywhere. What make this novel funny ? Imagine main character look at scary dragon bosss as dragon maid waifu, while the other look it as dragon monster that can kill you. <<less

I love this story.

It is a little confusing at first since I didn't know who was talking.

The MC is a nice guy and I love all the misunderstandings.

MC is befriending a lot of monsters. The downside is they were all girls.

I would like to see some cute animals or handsome guys too.
