This is a really good and entertaining novel set in the 19th century, where the MC a doctor from the 21st century, gets reincarnated into the 19th century. The plot isn’t completely new, but what makes it stand out is how the author focuses on how unclean and inhumane the conditions were back then. It also mixes in real historical elements with a bit of comedy, which makes it fun to read.

The best part is how the MC explains medical procedures and tries to perform them using only the limited... more>> tools and medicines available in the 19th century. He has to think carefully and improvise because he can’t just reveal his modern knowledge openly cause people might accuse him of witchcraft.

The only downside is that the main character keeps complaining about how bad things are in the 19th century—almost every chapter. I get that the author does this for comedy, but after about 100 chapters, it starts to feel a bit repetitive and annoying.

Still, it’s a good novel overall. Maybe not a masterpiece, but it definitely keeps you hooked and entertained. <<less

10 Ways to ruin your appetite.

Unlike the I-know-everything-genius-let-me-show-off protagonist, this protagonist has to limit his genius because he's afraid of getting slandered of witchcraft and being burned at the stake. But not showing off his medical knowledge is a life crisis, thanks to the absolutely insane unhygienic conditions of his hospital workplace. Rusted knives still stained with blood, fat and unlimited bacteria amputating limbs, unwashed bedsheets filled with flies and maggots, non-sterile bandages...

19th century London has no concept of bacteria and virus yet. The protagonist has to literally drink sh*t... more>> water (loss of appetite) to prove the existence of bacteria, watch people drink dogs' u**ne (my eyes suffer) in order to test insulin production to cure a noble's diabetes. I guess the readers enjoy dark humor because this series actually got a manhwa serial.

3.9 stars. Funny and disgusting, passable read.

PS: Read by copying and pasting the raws (1500 characters at a time) into meta's AI website, readable but highly questionable in accurate review score. <<less
