Such a cute story. Very enjoyable read with leads who actually have distinctive personalities. Even the male lead has a sense of humor and charm, their bickering is my favorite.

A slow burn, but just the right amount.

A nice mature read!

No melodrama, no gods and demons, no end of the world shenanigans, and the few misunderstandings that take place all make sense and are resolved in a timely fashion.

Adeline is looking to escape her father's attempt to sell her to the highest bidder, and Alexio is determined to make sure his step-brother doesn't end up with Adeline as a powerful tool in their fight for succession. The two find each other as unexpected allies in a contract marriage as they can each satisfy their goals by using... more>> the other.

The reason I came to love their story is because from beginning to end, even as just business partners, they show each other due respect. But when both characters have lived lives denied that basic respect, the smallest actions and words become really meaningful. From their first meeting they see certain qualities in the other that they respect, even though those turn out to be the very things they've spent their lives being criticized for.

Alexio sees that even though Adeline is a frail beauty, who is being used by her father as a trophy, her inner self and her heart remain steadfast, firm, just, and despite all the ab*se she's been through, she remains kind. He respects this about her and as they grow closer he appreciates this all more. She makes him want to be better, even if just for her sake, he hopes her inner strength never wavers. Adeline admires the way Alexio makes each and every decision through logic and thorough planning, she thinks of him as confident and self assured. The world criticizes him for these qualities and calls him vulgar and commoner-like, but she thinks his logic is better than her father's emotionally unstable behavior and his confidence is better than her insecurity. She tries to approach things with a "what would Alexio do" mindset and begins to find her own confidence and strength.

It's a story of two people that come to admire in the other person the things that they themselves lack, and fall in love in the process. While Adeline is externally weak, her inner strength gives Alexio peace; and while Alexio is internally consumed by insecurity and the aftereffects of a shitty childhood, his firm position and logical demeanor give Adeline the confidence to put down her own roots. Its calm, mature, well paced, and their bickering is cute too. I spent my money on buying the raw novel to read, and all I can say is that it was money well spent. <<less

I just started reading this novel earlier this week. Let me tell I fell in love instantly.

The characters are lovely and well develop. I love the fact that eventho FL isn't someone who can be push around despite her background. She may be naive but not ignorant/wayy too innocent beyond adult mind like I believe some other novels are.

The ML is good too. I assure his aura can be felt out of your phone screen. He isnt just the typically ML that is potray as cold and all but actually... more>> has zero aura and personality. I wish the ML stop referring hinslef as half blooded bcs truly there's nothing wrong with it. Still I understand the intention. I hope to see him more confident in the future and his background isnt his only personality.

The build up is good. It is fast pace or maybe medium pace but I like it. The main character relationship is super cute too.

The translator did a great job with translating. It has been a long time since i've read a good translation.

I hope this translation get more attention than it deserve <<less

I'm reading this and honestly it's not half bad but for real how longer will we have to consider a ML who does the bare minimum as a green flag? As a contract marriage partner he'd be better if he didn't lead her on with some intimate touches you wouldn't initiate with a contract wife while stressing your relationship is contractual and most actions are a task. Idc that ML is emotionally obtuse, the princess also suffered a lot but is still grateful for him for letting her experience new... more>> things or whatever, while he pushes on her limits on physical touches and retracts emotionally next

And ml's half brother is a big time creep, I also don't like that author wrote that scene where

he continues to have s*x with a maid after FL catches them and asks for them to stop, the dude just leisurely continues the business while having a conversation with FL like...... It felt extremely unnecessary, FL said she has received extensive education in this area being a royal but she's still a person who hasn't experienced much of life, as author likes to remind us...... So yeah it just felt creepy and unnecessary to write a scene like that, we already knew Derek was a s*umbag we didn't need the rest of it specifically when main couple hasn't done anything close to that
