I’ve reincarnated as the reverse harem game’s villainess, the one and only adopted daughter of the ducal Eckart family.

But the difficulty just has to be the worst!

Everything I do will only lead me to death.

I must be paired with one of the main male characters from the heroine’s harem before the ‘real daughter’ of the duke family appears!

Two older brothers who always pick a fight with me on every little thing.

The insane crown prince whose route will always lead to my death.

‘I only see the heroine and no one else’s wizard, and also her loyal s*ave knight, too!

‘First, let’s take some of them which I see no hope in, out of the list!’

“I didn’t know my place up until now. From now on, I’ll live as quiet as a mouse so you wouldn’t care the slightest bit!

But why do their interests in me keep on rising every time I draw the line?!

Really good artwork: ethreal.

The story is exquisitely done however maybe the closure from her real life was pitifully done... I wonder if it was made that way to make her isekai life better.

Very dramatic and toxic relationship between FL and ML that can be finished when you talk calmly and with a reason.

For the family and other factors, I quite like the story.

Look, I finished reading this on Wuxia World. The translations were awful. I started reading the novel on Wattpad but that was deleted, they had really good translations though. But still, I may have lost braincells but I’ve come out of it with an amazing story! One of a girl finding love after struggling to survive and going through a series of trials to discover the mystery of her transmigration. I haven’t read the extras, only a little bit but it was... okay. I love this story anyway!!

Actually read this when the good translation was still up before. But given how long ago that was and I'm writing a review now, yet don't have any memorable moments of it, I suppose it was a good enough read for me to be able to finish it, but not a great read for me as I don't remember too much of what I absolutely love about the novel. The main female lead wasn't bad, nor good. Personally I feel detached from her. Not sure if it's the writing style... more>> and the fact that I'm a detached person myself but I couldn't connect with the characters. Also not sure if I was suppose to feel pity for the character from her tragic past but I didn't get a strong sense of pity for her. I read it just to see the next sequence of events. <<less

This is an enjoyable read, however as it goes to the ending it feels.. Less interesting I suppose? While I am not a fan of the MC I don't really have much complains about her and the plot and all are good.
Spoiler

Although the way the MC sees Eckles disturbs me ngl.

I once discouraged to read this novel because of the "tragedy" tag but after reading through the reviews, I decided to give it a try.

Well, this story is slightly different from other transmigration novel. MC surely didn't have it easy. She was always on edge and was always afraid of dying. To be honest, it's a bit depressing to read MC's struggle thorough the story. Sometimes I want to hug her but sometimes I'm also annoyed by her actions. I especially hate her when she:

... made Eclise fell in love with her but she herself didn't love him back and only wanted to use him to escape from the game.

[collapse]

And all MLs that she encountered was horrible in their own ways. I don't think MC should end up with one of them.

Spoiler
  • Derrick, MC's nominal first brother, always treated MC coldly since the duke adopted her. Later, we knew that the reason why he acted like that was because he wanted to hide the fact that he had other feeling for her since the day the duke brought her home.
  • Leonard, MC's nominal second brother, had a poisonous mouth and always cursed MC all the time. He once also framed her of stealing Yyvone's necklace and made the duke resented her.
  • Vinter, the marquis and a wizard, once accused MC as a remnant of Leila. He went as far as to trap her so she will reveal herself and almost killed her after they encountered the real remnant of Leila.
  • Elclise, the s*ave who was bought by MC, had a twisted love. He wanted to possessed her badly and even wanted to kill her other's suitors along with the duke's family because they treated MC badly.
  • Callisto, the crown prince, was bloodthirsty and almost killed MC in their first meeting.
[collapse]

But still in the end, MC had to end up with one of them to achieve a happily ever after.

Spoiler

Well, I think happily ever after doesn't suit MC's life after being together with... guess what... the crown prince, Callisto. I agree that in spite of the "unforgettable" first meeting between him and MC, Callisto was a bit decent compared to other ML. Although he had a fiery temperament, he always trusted MC unconditionally and readily helped her without any question.

Unfortunately, he was also insecure just like MC. If only one side was insecure, other side still could comfort the other but in MC and ML case, both of them were insecure. It should be difficult to build a healthy relationship between them. It must be stressful for MC. She should ended up with someone who was more mature.

[collapse]

As for the ending, I'm happy that MC could make peace with the duke's family and also had some closures with her family from the other world. But still I hope other MLs will have their happy ending too. <<less

First of, I just want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all the translators involved in this series. There were a lot of them who contributed and I truly am grateful from the bottom of my heart. I know it wasn't easy but you guys did great! Although there were some chapters that may look like it's straight MTL :))

On to my review, I loved it! The only reason why I'm giving this a 4 star is because I didn't really like the last few chapters of the... more>> main story. I personally think they butchered Eclise's character for the sake of having more drama and conflict. The author has to resort to writing penelope as being too emotional, irrational and petty just to justify her need to show the slow descent of Eclise's mental state.

Penelopes characterization too was somehow inconsistent. For example, it was kind of implied that she doesn't really care about others. Like, her dialogues and scenes will tell you this but all of a sudden, she was obsessed about saving children and being a good person to others? What.

It has a lot of faults but the story is still good and deserves to be read. I honestly enjoyed it (except again for the last few chapters which I just skimmed through. And to think it was supposed to be the climax). Gaddamn the angst and hurt between Penelope and her family was a breath of fresh air since almost all novels I've read have it between the FL and ML.

Her relationship buildup with her father is beautiful, I found myself crying when it comes to those 2. Seriously, it was so painful but at the same time so satisfying to read. For someone who doesn't have a problem dropping titles if there is something that I didn't like, me completing this series speaks volumes for me.

But it's all about preferences in the end :) <<less

I have read all 269 chapters and I can. Say a few things about it.

The ab*se is heavy, both Siyeon (MC 'real world' name) and Penelope could be said even to be martyrs. Both suffered heavy ab*se and negligence, and you can't tell who had it worse. So you can expect a dose of angst, and oh boi, it would make you frown.

When she took over Penelope's body, she was very pragmatic and level headed, since while playing she felt affinity with the poor Villainess whom longed for love to... more>> a point her character was distorted. Then she took action, to slowly try and reach her goal of getting a good ending for the game.

I can't say I agree with a lot of her decisions or how she acted sometimes.

Now, about the MLs. We had 5 choices, so to speak:

The sadistic crown prince Callisto Regulud. The mysterious charming Marquis Vinter Verdandi. The Eckart's brothers, Derrick and Rennald. And finally, the deadpan faced s*ave Eclise.

I have so much to say that I cannot since I don't want to put any majors spoilers, but to me since the start only two of them would have been my choice. Alas, my SLS always kicks in so I'm disappointed but no surprised of who was actually the ML here.

I'll say if you're gonna read it, you may need to do so with an open mind because some things here are really... Specials. From monsters to actions, I think a few would be upset.

I read the manhwa too, and I can say they made Penelope more likeable there than how she is in the novel, since she's originally more phlegmatic with sudden outbusrts. And she changes a bit from the middle of the novel and this continues towards the end.

Still, worry not since it has a HE.

Do I recommend it? Yes, but from I think some people may like more the manhwa than the novel, to be honest. So I guess my advice is more a 'give it a try to both'! <<less

A wild, angst-filled ride and I'm nearly done! I like a lot of the things other reviewers do: a twisty turny plot, a tough and clever FL, high stakes and plenty of drama. I even like all of the characters (as much as I hate what some of them do!). Quite the gripping story!

My main complaint is everyone but the MC seems to have character development. If you compare everyone at the beginning of the story to the end, she is very much the same. I understand why she is... more>> the way she is. The poor woman! She has led such a sad life. I'm just much more of a forgiving person, so it's hard for me to
Spoiler

watch her harshly slam down on characters who genuinely seem to repent. Particularly Eclise; it's undeniable that she only saw him as an NPC who mattered for the sake of her survival. Many times I wish she'd just left home instead of shutting down every attempt to reconcile. It started getting a bit eye-rolling seeing her deny any future form of happiness because she told herself she couldn't forgive them for Penelope's sake. Penelope is gone. Live for yourself!

[collapse]

Anyways I like my ship, so here's to hoping for a happy, undoubtedly bittersweet ending! <<less
