Xi Leng died.

As the deeply affectionate male supporting character in a pure love novel, and the protagonist shou’s early deceased white moonlight, he was poor and resilient, and also somewhat attractive, but was ab*sed utterly in both love and career.

Xi Leng: May I ask?

If he had to do this deeply affectionate male supporting character gig, couldn’t he at least be rich and leisurely?

He was working eight jobs, being leeched off by his s*um father, and still had to feel sorry for the protagonist shou for not getting his love!

****

After rebirth, Xi Leng directly threw in the towel.

The protagonist shou sent him a message full of anticipation, asking: “Did you get pictures of Min-shen?”

And then, for the first time in his life, he was ignored.

This plot couldn’t progress a bit.

Xi Leng frantically dodged the plot, but felt like he was deviating more and more.

First, he was at the airport wearing a fan light board, originally intending to attract the attention of the top-flow protagonist gong so he could take some pictures.

However, the protagonist gong thought Xi Leng was his ardent fan and even cornered him in the restroom.

Protagonist gong: Very angry, but the little fan is very aloof, and the key is that he’s really good-looking.

Forget it, proactively give an autograph as compensation.

****

In order to clear the negative press about being cold-faced towards his fans, the protagonist gong invited the handsome and well-behaved fanboy Xi Leng onto a variety show and firmly believed in this fake fan’s fan status, continuously sending fan benefits.

Xi Leng looked at the signed item in his hand with complicated feelings. To prevent him from reselling merchandise, the protagonist gong really came up with all sorts of tricks…

Xi Leng dodged the plot while taking advantage of the variety show to earn money and improve his life.

Only, he didn’t know how, but how did the protagonist shou’s script end up in his hands?

****

Later, someone asked the protagonist shou about the most unforgettable experience in his life——

He said: Does my childhood friend and my destined love getting together count? 🙂

I loved this a lot. MC is top, ML is bottom. Painter x singer turned actor.

I love that ML is very proactive and didn’t leave any room for misunderstandings. No crematorium plot, just sweetness! They’re both so cute and it’s one of the rare novels that I ended up reading for the entire day without putting down.

hii im writing this review because I noticed this novel doesnt have any other reviews! I personally think this was a beautiful story, it has around 80~90 chapters in total which is just the right fit for me! There may be pacing issues because of the amount of chapters though, and although I didnt pay much mind to it because im not picky, the ending was rushed to some amount, and a bit in some middle parts of the story as well (some things are brushed over after a good... more>> introduction).

i really love xi leng and min zhi, them as individual characters as well as their relationship. Xi leng's trauma is written beautifully, I think this author is much better at writing things in the moment rather than finishing them off, and min zhi's response to his trauma is quite sweet but it might come off as romanticization to some people (i personally did not think so, min zhi helped xi leng get past his experiences as a friend and a lover and it states in the story of his "desensitization treatment" together with him even if its only as a humorous bit and that really spoke to me because in the way that xi leng needed him he was there for him). Min zhi isn't the best male lead you could ever see, but he is the one for xi leng.

the side couple is the original protagonist and min zhi's friend, I liked min zhi's friend and it was said that he had some issues as well which min zhi spoke to him about, and I thought he was really a sweet guy. It might come off as people with his issues of avoidant attachment are not able to find love, but this is only because of the plot and authors favoritism towards the main couple that he cannot find love, as well as

the original protagonist's refusal of his love and the fact that the og protag is not over xi leng yet

, so please take mind

it was a fun story nonetheless, and it kept me hooked for sure. Please give this a chance with an open mind! The entertainment parts are nice, and the traumatic parts are bitter, it might not be the best story you've ever read but it will be one to rememeber. Theres a lot of emotion packed in with the writing that disperses in some parts to foster relaionships or make points other than about xi leng or min zhi, but I don't think it'll leave you unhappy after finishing or stopping at any point. Thank you! <<less

I walked away from this story feeling like I read a modern fairytale. In this fairytale, there's a Prince Charming and a (sorta) "Damsel in Distress", they go through challenges together and their love overcomes all obstacles. Which is to say... I had a blast reading this! The romance is written between two mature adults, and it flows smoothly and easily. You'll worry about big problems and find that they have been soothed down by communication and effort from both parties (although Min Zhi does put more overt effort). There... more>> are a few main antagonists or villains but they don't really cause a big stir. There aren't many main side characters but they're written pretty well, each has a personality and a little story. Overall though, this is a good story about two adults working through their pains and traumas to come together and build a better future. I read to the end, feeling happy and satisfied.

But I did have some reservations about some things.

Spoiler

Although rebirth is a big aspect, I felt like a large part of the novel had the Male Lead, Min Zhi, being a Prince Charming and solving many if not most of, the Main Character, Xi Leng's problems. This isn't because Xi Leng isn't talented or because he's lazy but rather that Min Zhi is simply overwhelmingly dominant, and to be honest, a lot of it is about money.

Of course, this is not an abusive novel, so Min Zhi is a compassionate and kind Prince Charming. Sure, he's kinda sharp-tongued and stubborn, but he mainly gives without asking for much in return. But just like how we hear more about Prince Charming slaying the dragon, I think Xi Leng was given less of a chance to grow and stand independently beside Min Zhi. This could be more of a personal preference, though, because Xi Leng does grow emotionally and mentally but I hoped for him to carve out more fighting spirit. It felt a little like all we could see of Xi Leng was that he was struggling and suffering, I mean he had his bright moments but I really didn't feel like there were enough of them. With Min Zhi clearing the way for him, it felt like he didn't really have the space to fight for himself as much.

Another thing that made me feel a little weird is that while the story flows like a fairytale, it actually covers a lot of deep and rather dark topics including violence and other bad things. I don't know if the novel would have been better if the author had made it more like a fairytale or if they brought it closer to real life. I feel like the novel tried to bite off a little more than it could chew, given that there are some plot points I felt were kinda overlooked.

[collapse]

Ultimately, reading through the novel felt like eating a sweet piece of chocolate. There's a bit of bitterness from the cacao, but this is a milk chocolate after all, and there isn't much of that bitter cocoa powder. A perfect read for days when you want to relax but still want a small amount of soft angst. <<less
