Ning Yechen used to be the Demon Lord. He singlehandedly took over the Demon Realm and attacked the Heavenly Realm. His name preceded him throughout the Six Realms. He got tired of fighting, so he quietly went into seclusion and became a happy hermit.

One night, an Empress from the Heavenly Realm fell into the Mortal Realm after someone drugged her with an aphrodisiac. She inadvertently fell into his room, and they made out.

After the deed, the Empress quietly left. Just when he thought he would never see her again, she showed up in front of him ten years later, bringing a child, saying it was his daughter and demanding accountability from him!

“She’s your daughter. You have to be responsible for us!”

Ning Yechen was stunned!

It's... ok? More like, it's pretty good, but unfortunately the plot is driven by the MC being unnecessarily secretive. Due to the circumstances of their meeting, it's obvious that the wife is a cultivator, but for some asinine reason, the male lead decides to hide the fact he's one too. I mean, yeah, he's OP AF (literally has the entire Heavenly realm terrified of the mention of his name 100 years after he retired), but he could just as easily have let her know he wasn't a mortal, doesn't... more>> have to show his full power.

So anyway, the little family unit is pretty cute and fluffy, but unfortunately he just refuses to let his wife know anything. So she's constantly in a state of worry and trying to protect him, but he doesn't resolve it at all. And then whenever she passes out (from defending him and stressing her injuries and such) he goes off to curb stomp anyone who looked at her funny.

Not to mention, if she had known he was strong, she could have told him who was hunting her - she obviously knows. She just doesn't tell him because, again, she thinks he's a standard mortal and weak. Then it ACTUALLY could have turned into SOL/Romance. Instead it's just her unknowingly playing the clown as she gets worked up, worried, injured, stressed, etc, then he provides comfort and takes care of the issues. Honestly I kinda hate the MC for how he's treating this faithful, adorable wife.

Which is a shame, because otherwise he's a pretty chill main lead, and I don't dislike him. The daughter is a cute kid, and the wife is adorable and falling in love slowly. I just wish it wasn't so artificially engineered by his dishonesty. I really want to know when he actually comes clean to her. I have a feeling it won't be for a loooong time though, as evidently the author wants this story to run on misunderstandings and lies. : ( <<less

Initially, this story is enjoyable and fun. So much so that I found a native language source and used google translate to read further. Unfortunately, being a slice of life story for the most part, the story becomes tedious over time as all the misunderstandings and villains get wrap up. The story continues on but as a reader I could not generate the interest to continue on.

As others have printed the romance is good but the only thing is why hide your identity and let her get hurt just because of a selfish reason that she may not even sure she may not treat him the same way then... the charector that author has written is not like that... it's just author whim to let the story continue... you have let the story flow from the main character perspective otherwise it's just breaks immersion... such a lovely husband but just because he didn't want reveal his... more>> identity she gets injured and he just watches that... building his whole relationship into falsehood... and it's maybe okay for couple at the starting chapter but it should not continue after she has very deep feelings for him that it won't matter and he should be able to discern it shouldn't be? <<less

This is a genuinely great novel with quite good character writing, kinda ok word building, and the best part is the bits of romance between both MC and FMC.

Despite the MC being the strongest being here, he is a true to one loyal dad and husband.

And the for FMC, my god is she a great written tsundere. Not to mention the precious little sweet pea who is also the best wingman here.

Ps. From what I've read this is a 8/10 novel. Not over the top nor fill with clichés. Just... more>> good fun to read and very heart warming. <<less

I got hooked to the novel so much, I go and MTL all the chapters <3

You guys don't get how much I love Ning Yechen as a character. Like he's THE ultimate devoted husband in the best possible way despite being a power-fantasy novel. Despite being the most broken person in the whole 7 realms, my man is loyal to the T. And in a non-Shoujo novel, it's really great to see a male MC who is SOOOOO anti-harem.

  1. An illusion tried to seduce him with beautiful women and he was sooo annoyed with it. Said illusion can also pick out a person's worst fear, and his was that FML finding out he was the Demon Lord and hated him.

It's so entertaining to watch him coax his wife and child xD

I think the best part is his dynamic with his wife (sorry, child, but I'm like 10000x more invested when my man flirt with his wife). Yue Qingyou is a tsundere but you know right away, just like him, she's devoted and loyal to him.

where Ning Yechen's Night Court consumes him. My GIRL discards everything, even thought she knows she's so much weaker than him and this ability, and jumps right in to be with him. Even when he begs her to get out, she decided to accompany him.

Like I was tearing up, these 2 are so refreshingly devoted to each other. This novel PEAKS when it's about these 2. But exactly because when the story about these 2 only is so peak, everything else feel much weaker imho.

I salute the author for fleshing out the characters and world but the last 1/3 of the novel turn into a Battle Shounen with power scaling straight out of DBZ. I'm so sorry but I cannot care less ;_;

The first 2/3 when it was slice of life and Ning Yechen learning to become a father was soooooo good. The little date, the snuggling when sleeping, the coaxing when he did something wrong, etc. THOSE are the best parts of this novel and I missed it dearly. <<less

It's a good novel, the story is great, but I'm having difficulty finding the full story website

This is a genuinely great novel with quite good character writing, kinda ok word building, and the best part is the bits of romance between both MC and FMC.
