※ Doomsday wasteland background, ABO.
※ This is the story of a little puppy who turns into a big devil and kidnaps his heartless brother back to eat him up. In their strong years, they fall in love and kill each other.

Ye Zhan is an Alpha. He is a beautiful and capable Alpha, who thrived like a fish in water during these apocalyptic days. Until one day, he found himself transforming from Alpha to Omega…

Of course, misfortune never comes singly. Just as he was on the way to transforming into an Omega, he was caught by his ex-boyfriend. The sweet little cutie who followed him and called him brother has grown into a sinister and vicious apocalyptic boss at some point.

Qi Yuan: Why do you smell like an Omega even though you are an Alpha?
Ye Zhan: I’m not! I don’t smell like that, don’t talk nonsense!
Qi Yuan: …… Although you smell sweet and flowery, have an estrus period, nest on my clothes, and are keen to suck my pheromones, you’re a good Alpha, right?
Ye Zhan: Tightens his hold on the vest as he trembles- he looks weak, pitiful, and helpless. (He is pretending)

※The setting of this story is a hodgepodge of doomsday + mythical creatures

“In the 189th year of the end of the world, civilization was destroyed and the flood returned. Mutant beasts roam the Earth, ancient gods have returned to their places, and humans have awakened their ancient bloodlines and evolved into having transcendent abilities. It’s a time of treachery, with Rocs and giant spaceships soaring through the skies, angels and fallen species wandering the ruins of cities, the Leviathan devouring deep-sea whales, Titans re-ascending Mount Olympus, and thousands of Kuafu beasts keep running towards the scorching sun……

This is also a time when humans are as humble as ants and as bright as stars. ”

Okay, it exceeded my expectations. Like, I thought it was going to be another typical apocalypse ABO story, but wow, a lot of things totally took me by surprise.

CP dynamic: strong, cunning power shou x seems cold on the outside but actually has a heart of gold gong. Both have their own traumas and issues. There were some misunderstandings between them but eventually, everything would be resolved. ... more>>

They will have a kid later.

By the way, the summary sort of make it seem like it's just gonna be some cliché "tsundere A-turned-into-O getting chased by his destined childhood sweetheart yandere A" type of romance novel, with some apocalypse survival and leveling up stuff going on in the background... DON'T BE MISTAKEN!!! IF YOU JUST WANT LIGHT-HEARTED FLUFF, THIS AIN'T THE ONE.

The story is actually far more darker and heavier than the summary hints at. It's almost the same situation as 2Ha; just looking at the name and the summary will not prepare you for what you will be actually reading (I'll have to say this has less angst for the main CP compared to 2Ha tho, IMO). I actually came for a light read of ABO fluff and got served with some serious sh*t, but this sh*t was so good I couldn't drop till the end 🥹

Before reading, keep in mind that the MC is a s*um shou in the literal sense, no excuses at all. And as mentioned above, this story includes really dark content in some parts, so, first make sure you'll be comfortable with it. I will list the trigger warnings I remember seeing in the story (might possibly include spoilers) :

Spoiler

mu*der, gore, cannibalism, betrayal, mental issues, child ab*se, R*pe, s*xual ab*se, miscarriage, human experiments, s*avery, gender discrimination

[collapse]

Moreover, both the MC and the ML are really OP in their own ways, so if you are really against OP protagonists, this may not be your cup of tea.

What I liked about the story:

- the world background is really interesting. I love how the author incorporated mythical fantasy stuff into a futuristic apocalypse world

- the complex characters. Not only the main couple but also the side characters are 'alive' with different layers and their own stories

- intriguing storyline. The author is pretty good at using different types of literary elements like different narratives, plot twists, dramatic irony, and more.

- proper character growth

- portrayal of gentle strength and soft power

- something better than a side CP...
Spoiler

two side CPs ┌ (・。・) ┘♪,

What I don't like:

- CP stereotypes. Except for the MC, who changed from A to O, all the other bottoms are the more gentle, more innocent and visibly weaker ones in the relationship

- some characters basically 'disappearing' for a period of time with no reason. It's like the author forgot about them until a certain time. But, I can understand... writing something of this scale, it's hard to keep track of all the characters

- the final chapters being a bit too rushed IMO. Maybe the long battles for the previous problems made the very final battle seem a bit anticlimactic

- some confusing stuff in certain parts. There's especially one that bugs me a lot; one of the characters

is so under-explained.

Anyways, I still recommend giving it a go at least because I myself am very glad that I read this. <<less

A somewhat sleep-aid.

There's a lot of instance that I was stopping myself from literally sleeping from this, even though there are some instance where it was interesting, I just have to stop, it's kinda boring.

For a premise and world building as grand as this one, with gods, bloodlines, and monsters of different levels, this one picked the mystery road instead.

... more>> I was contemplating early on to drop this one because it really lacked directions.

From chapter 20, I was still not sure where the story was going, I have some inklings but they felt lame or below standard. There are so many scenes that already happened but they genuinely felt like irrelevant to the story. It felt like they are straying too much with others stuff, instead of focusing on a stable storyline.

Even the romance that the blurb was mainly talking about was just an afterthought in this book. They focus more on solving an assasination mystery, then finding another mystery that honestly does not relate or matter to them much aside from the fact that a friend ask them to invistigate it and it was a rightful right of them to help it as a citizen rather than to help personally or characteristically.

It lacked relevance and importance. Like why did they care? Is this the main storyline, and if so, why does it felt like unencompassing and felt like a side plot?

It had a nice set-up and even for the romance, it also has a nice set-up but the author chose to sidestep into mystery genre without making it interesting for the readers to solve, or even to the main characters. Like what do you mean they have to solve what the mystery of a new monster that, hear me out, was not actively hunting people. I get that it is important for the ML to find out who assasinated his father, but is that really the main plot? That felt like a side of a side plot.

Maybe it was a personal choice, and this book could be interesting for people who like this cup of tea, but not for me. And mind you, I'm also a lover of the mystery genre and I don't have problem with mystery solving, it was just not doing well for me. It was uninteresting and there's so much chapters spent on mindless sidequest like walking in a prison, a side character eating with his mothers, meeting a mouse clan, exploring a tunnel, etc. That was unnecessarily long. If this is what the author was going to sell then I'm not buying it. <<less
