The Alliance’s top mage, Ruan Xing, woke up to find that the world had changed beyond recognition.

A post-apocalyptic era. Global pollution. Mutated species. Extreme danger.

And worst of all—he had become an ordinary human. Even his meticulously built mage tower, the result of centuries of savings, had vanished without a trace.

Ruan Xing: “…”

All he did was take a nap in his new house.

Year 78 of the New Calendar. Polluted zones continue to expand, making human survival increasingly difficult.

Polluted Zone No.1: Happiness Cinema

Not a single moviegoer has ever left the theater alive.

Ruan Xing: “I’m not here to watch a movie. I’m here to join you.”

Polluted Zone No.2: The Eerie Amusement Park

A theme park run by monsters, where humans are nothing but food on the menu.

Ruan Xing: “Your management team is terrible. Let me take over.”

Polluted Zone No.3: The Whispering School

The moment you step in, you’ll be consumed by inescapable voices.

Ruan Xing: “If you talk too much, just sew your mouth shut.”

Recently, a newcomer to the Investigation Corps has been rising like a dark horse.

Rumor has it that he moves freely through S-Class Polluted Zones, cleanses them with ease, and charges into life-threatening disasters without hesitation. No major pollution crisis goes by without his presence.

Countless people are moved to tears: “This—this is the true light of humanity!”

Ruan Xing: “Forget that—where the hell is my mage tower?!”

It kinda had the same vibes as Little mushroom at the start except that this is less tensed in my opinion.

Perhaps because their settings both falls under the same category; an apocalypse with mutants/alienation aspect.

However, don't be mistaken. I'm just compering the start of the two to give an over view. The MC here was nowhere as innocent as the MC there. MC here, while seemingly a cranky child, he's a true adult. He isn't lacking emphathy but he also isn't exactly emotional. Sometimes, you could actually feel his indifference... more>> towards this unfamiliar place at the start. Not that he wasn't kind but he does seemed to start caring more around the end.

The story revolves around him trying to find his mage tower and along the way, discovering the reason of the apocalypse.

While MC isn't the culprit, and in fact, also an unassuming victim, the apocalypse is kind of related to him. Which, by the way, end up benefiting him the most. So while MC spent the whole novel being nerfed af, it wasn't an exaggeration to say that he's on the path to be the new god. (Of course the novel never dwelled on this as the aftermath of the apocalypse was just a chapter or two of conclusion, this is just my feel.)

As an avid reader, while the story is really interesting, with proper elements of ups and down, there's no major twist in the story plot for me. There were hints and foreshadowing, which was easy to pick up if you are familiar with the genre. You know, just always greedy people on powertrip wanting to be more after discovering new powers.

If there's a twist, it's actually more on why MC was always triggered about his mage tower. Of course it's his whole property that he built for hundred of years. But he's a good adult that knows to properly lock the main doors, and the rooms. After finding the existence of his mage tower in this new world, he actually didn't lost much in properties (It was big for humans but just a drop of a bucket for him. Though I would be pissed as well). After knowing the whole story of his precious mage tower, I can only say, damn it, return his mage tower!

This story has an extra. I don't know if he merely dreamed of 'himself' in the apocalypse or he returned to his original world after experiencing the apocalypse. I prefer the former as that would make it two parallel world and he does met people in his original world that lived in the apocalypse. The later situation would make a time paradox, so I rather not think about it.

Overall, the story was very entertaining. Each arc about the pollution/task wasn't too long to occupy the main plot. You won't feel that MC's a trouble magnet despite the amount of mutant situation that he faces. Firstly because he did join the frontline and secondly, he actively tackle things about mutants to search for his mage tower. Yes, boy he was consistent ahahaha. From the title, to summary, and plot, the MC remained true to his mage tower ahahaha. <<less
