The little mermaid Song Huai gets his little head smashed and realises that he’s living in a book.

The brother next door, whom he has always adored, is the protagonist gong in the book, and he is a standard cannon fodder shou, who not only withdraws from the marriage for the protagonist gong, he also ended up with a broken home.

The original marriage partner of the little mermaid is Lu Mian, an imperial general, rumoured to be cold and bloodthirsty.

In order to survive. Song Huai decided:

1. Stay away from the protagonist gong decisively and not linger in front of the protagonist and seek death.

MC so naive and silly. Even if he knew about what this and that story it become a question if he is naive or natural s*upid.

He's more like a girly than normal which give the feeling me as a reader for little bit of annoyed but then again...

The MC grow up to a Rich family, he maybe spoiled rotten to the core. The ML as usual a handsome, cold, etc. Your daily ML protagonist and nothing new about him.

The chapter is too few so it hard to say if is... more>> boring or not. <<less

If you want an in-depth, emotionally layered romance, it's not for you.

It is a no brainer fluffy read. A balm for the soul when it's been hectic lately. However, the translation could truly be better in the beginning few chapters. Raw mtl. From 15/16th chapter onwards it gets so much better, though few corrections could be made here and there. That's negligible though. I personally felt there were few missing links in between, especially in the beginning. I don't know if it's because of translation or the author itself had... more>> written like that.

For eg, there is a scene where the MC gives eraser to another character. The next scene it becomes snacks. How did eraser become snacks? Mis-translation or the writer being dumb? I don't know.

Similarly the ML getting a thing of MC which he had apparently dropped. I rechecked Again, there was no mention of the MC dropping the stuff. So what??? How???

Keeping these few things aside, it's a good, fluffy and no brainer. Hence, the 4 stars. 1 star deducted for the bad translation in the beginning. <<less

such as when ML was ranked as the top bachelor for both men and women but it was mentioned earlier that no one had a clear picture of what ML may look like which made me wonder if the author forgot what they wrote previously

I also wished there would be a deeper focus of MC and Li Ziqing's friendship, I was sad that LZQ rarely appeared in the last chapters despite being a great friend (though he was, because he liked MC).

It's VERY mild and cliche, not recommended for people who wants to use logic. I like fluffy and dog food novels so this one is definitely for me !! I just wished it was longer : ( <<less

I'm quite disappointed in this novel

Theirs barely any mermaid content 3 ch out of the whole novel so it was rather useless and unnecessary.

This cant even be considered fluffy there was too many misunderstandings and conflicts because they never communicated. It's not just the MC it's also the ML you would think he's a typical cold top but he's annoyingly childish too so nothing was resolved and in the end it was cut short. The side characters didn't get any resolved men like they literally had an argument and he... more>> never cleared it up and MC kept a secret from everyone for a long time which I feel like wasn't needed and it was based off a s*upid reason. There was no good face slapping the villain was just there being fed dog food. The comedy was terrible.

And it wasn't even the cute childish it was the annoying want to pull my hair out kind of childishness like please act like you're grown adults.

The only thing I like about this is that there's consent I would have dropped this if there was any type of dubcon.

Simple, light, short, easy-reading and fluffy interstellar fantasy romp with familiar stereotypical characters that I like. MC is a typical anime-style cutie, innocent and childlike, an absolute facecon and crybaby. ML is your typical cold gong who slowly melts under MC's silly antics and adorable nature. This is pure fluff, a slice-of-life of how the protags meet and fall in love, how they moved from stiff one-word dialogues to awkward short interactions and slowly get better at communicating their feelings. Simple plot, nothing complicated or serious. Translation is not the... more>> best but readable. My only problem with this novel is that it felt too short and many interesting situations/plot points/characters were dealt with perfunctorily with just a few lines. For e.g. the song in the radio by the unknown kid was a very important exciting element for both protags and I was looking forward to the reveal but that little excitement was cut short by author. Or what about Qingqing, the 3rd Prince, who became MC's best friend but was left hanging and sad by author? same for LuCheng? I was also looking forward to see at least some chapters of the fish babies but absolutely nothing. Maybe author meant to write a second novel about them... <<less

A very light-hearted read, where conflicts get resolved without much complication.

I feel like the end was somehow hanging though? Are there any sequel books to this? A lot of potential plot lines left hanging it seems, did the author get transmigrated into their own book already to finish those "incomplete arcs". LOL.

The MC was rather cute though, misunderstandings galore (not enough to complicate things excessively). The ML treasuring his words like gold doesn't really help matters, hence comedy ensues.

Even though I really like fluffy stories with cute MCs, I really couldn't get into this story. It feels like a very cliche wattpad story with pretty bad writing and 2D characters.

I usually like reading cute MC and cold ML, but this one was really not my cup of tea.

To be honest, this is really not my usual type of novel. However, maybe because I've been reading too many serious novels recently, this ended up being just the right amount of simple and silly for me to relax my overstressed brain cell XD. IDK if I would recommend it normally, but it's not bad at all if you're looking for a similar de-stressing experience.

Summary: The MC, Song Huai, is a boy from a world gone interstellar. He woke up after receiving a blow to his head and discovers that... more>> his whole life had actually been based on a book. A book where he's nothing but cannon fodder that pushes the original CP together. His end is rather miserable as well. He dies at the hand of the man he pursued ever since he was a child, and was never able to even get a smidgen of his liking or respect. Anyway, since he doesn't want to repeat the life he lived in said book, the MC decided to go a different route entirely. He starts avoiding his long-time crush and accepts the engagement he had with said long-time crush's uncle, the ML, Lu Mian. From then on, what happens is a cliche love drama between two awkward people who struggle to communicate, but manage to make it to the end because of existing entanglements.

CHARACTERS: 6/10

The characters of this novel are rather cliche and 2D. However, they're not unlikeable, so I don't think too badly of them. There's some growth on the more important characters as well, which was nice.

Song Huai (MC)

The MC is the short, silly, and sweet type. A little to "shou" for my usual taste, but again, I don't dislike him. The author did a pretty good job making him likeable, despite his more annoying characteristics. At least, he never pretends to be something that he's not. He's just a big baby through and through.

Lu Mian (ML)

To contrast the baby-ish MC, we have a mature and stoic man for an ML. He's the famous Admiral Lu, well known throughout the Galaxy for amassing many victories for the empire. He doesn't talk much, and he struggles to express himself. However, he's not as bad as your typical MLs. At least, he struggles mainly because of his own awkwardness, as he has been fighting on the front lines since 15, and didn't have much of a chance to grow up.

ROMANCE: 6/10

It's a very sweet and fluffy kind of romance. Kind of shallow as well. The MC likes the ML for his face, and that's a constant throughout the story XD. Meanwhile, the ML's interest in the baby-ish MC is a bit creepy at times. Though, that may just be me.

SETTING: 5.5/10

I thought that there would be more focus on the setting TBH. What I didn't mention in my summary is that the MC is actually a mermaid. One that will transform into a human after giving birth to one. I thought this would be a bigger deal, but it wasn't. It's more of a school life story, you know. The ML becomes the MC's teacher, and there's even a school play and competition. A bit too modern day for me, especially since this is set in an interstellar world. I thought more would be done about the Admiral's illness as well, but yeah. That's not important either.

PLOT: 6.5/10

This plot is uncomplicated and a bit messy. However, it kept me reading, so I tried not to think too harshly about it XD. The main focus of the novel is the awkward development between the MC and ML. Both of them struggle to communicate what they like and dislike about each other, and kind of just cruise along as the story progresses. The original story's love affair was pretty much broken down, but there's some drama there too.

RATING: 3/5

All in all, it's definitely not that good. But it's short and amusing, so it can't be considered a bad read. If you have spare time, and you don't know what else to read, it's something to check out, at least. Just don't expect too much from it lolol! <<less

It's a fluffy and cute story overall, but the translation felt like nearly pure MTL, with almost no editing (no indentations, wrong speaker, or incorrect indentations) until much later in the novel. I definitely don't support pure MTL translations.

I think this novel could have gotten a slightly higher rating if the translation was a little better. As it is, the MC is a little bit too childish, he acts like a 10 year old instead of a 17 year old, and the age gap is emphasized given how extremely childlike... more>> the MC acts.

It's lowkey hilarious how the ML is mad that the MC only likes him for his face, but you can pretty much say the same of the ML in reverse, why does he think the MC is cute when rolling on the ground and throwing up on him? Because of the MC's face

This novel is pretty cute, and there's fairly little conflict. The MC is childish, but that's part of the plot line in the story and he's still pretty endearing. I love how the ML realizes that the MC got his childishness and his crazy ideas from his family who acts the same way.

There are quite a few plot holes, and admittedly the story does feel unfinished. That's not to say it doesn't have a clear end, the ending is actually pretty sweet, but it also felt like it was leading... more>> up to something else that just never happened.

I feel like we were robbed of a possible mpeg story considering how often DuDu mentioned he could get pregnant and how he mentioned wanting to have kids.

The mermaid plot line went nowhere. It was almost completely irrelevant to the plot aside from being a plot device to explain that DuDu could get pregnant (which, again, amounted to nothing) and go into estrus (which also amounted to nothing since there was a bunch of lead up to the estrus and then it never really happened). But in other mermaid novels, the mermaid identity is an essential part of the plot. In this one, it means absolutely nothing. The story would be almost exactly the same if DuDu had been a regular human.

I was also annoyed that his friendship with LZQ (the shou of the original novel) was kind of left hanging. They became such good friends, LZQ got jealous, and they never truly reconciled which was really sad to me. It was implied that they reconciled, but we never really got to see it. Considering how LZQ was one of DuDu's only friends, I didn't like how their friendship ended up.

It felt like a good chunk of the novel all revolved around an academic competition that DuDu was training for... that just never happened. The story ended before the competition happened despite how many chapters revolved around DuDu's studying.

The story seemed to end just as the real relationship between the MC and ML was beginning. There was so much adorable fluff, but for the entire story they were keeping the relationship a secret. Then the novel ended just when they made it public.

As the spoilers shows, there were quite a few little annoying things, but I'm still giving the novel 5 stars cause I don't think it deserves some of the super low ratings it has gotten because, ultimately, it is a super sweet and fluffy novel. It's a quick read, low angst, and luckily since it's short the story doesn't start to drag.

(P.S. there is a pretty big age gap here. MC is 17 (and acts very childish) and ML is 32. They don't go all the way in bed till MC turns 18, but they do plenty of other stuff before that. If that's something that bothers you, maybe skip this one.) <<less

Agreee with the ratings 3.9, I'm not stingy but guys I need to remind you.. to turn off ur IQ, don't read any hate comments on this section... just read it (novel).. maybe you may find it fun to read, and.. thay had so many potential to be a 4.3 novel.. our MC maybe can not be a baby.. logically after he knew that he gonna get bloody died he may have some shadow.. and not gonna be so sunny like that.. agree with some people that say our MC is too not sincere to ML bcs he keep saying that he likes ML face.. but I think we can see that actually it not just that.. our MC is too simple minded.. he think he like MC just bcs of face.. and omg.. somehow the author really need slap in the face.. they had the moment when they want to be true with each other but... our author keep sending side character to ruined it, make me want to say ''what wrong with ya uh..'' so the misunderstanding session is not only just results of their act to try figuring out each other like a esper but cus our author force the flow like that.. argh.. and.. they actually can get preg-nan-te tagssss but... once again.. 47 done... :) you all can call me maniac but I think we can get more sweet if that happen...

I read this novel because I wanted to read rainbow facts and I got what I came for. Also MC s character may be a bit white lotus but with this setting it works. He does not comes off as annoying just cute. Probably because He's mainly like that with his fiance. Otherwise he's good I love him ❤️

Honestly this book was very cute. The MC is cute, the ML is cute, even the 2nd ML (though he didn't stand a chance, RIP) was cute. The misunderstandings were a little annoying bc neither of them ever talked about their feelings but but the second they learned to communicate properly it was just smooth sailing and endless fluff from there.

The main misunderstandings were that Dudu was insecure bc he thought Lu Mian was too cool for someone as childish as him, but still liked to take advantage of him to ask for hugs and kisses. Lu Mian thought Dudu still liked his cousin (the real as*hole here) and didn't want people to know about his engagement to an old man, but still pampered him and indulged him 100%.

Super cute read. I am a fan of a cute protagonist. The author added a bit of miscommunication to extend the time the MLs spent getting to know each other. It wasn't too bad. Given a high rating because it's short, so let go of the small stuff XD
