Zhong Yinyue transmigrated into a book he was eagerly following, a frustrating cultivation novel, and became a background elder of a sect. In the book, the protagonist is harmed by the villain in the later stages of the plot and is on the brink of death. To save him, his eldest senior brother, Shen Changxue, steps up, braving dangers, climbing mountains of knives, and crossing seas of fire, risking his life to enter a secret realm to retrieve spiritual herbs.

However, on his way back to the mountain, Shen Changxue unfortunately encounters the villain and is beaten half to death, his core almost destroyed. He returns to the sect barely alive, and although he could still be saved, the sect forcibly extracts his immortal bones, sacrifices him as the core of a blood array to save the protagonist, leading to his death by flying.

Shen Changxue struggles, unwilling to be part of the array, yet others say: “Why are you so heartless towards your junior brother!”

Zhong Yinyue, reading the book: ?

The protagonist wakes up, thinking Shen Changxue’s sacrifices are only natural.

Zhong Yinyue: ???

Zhong Yinyue spits three liters of blood: These ungrateful wolves, this twisted plot! Why does no one feel sorry for the eldest senior brother!?

Upon waking up, Zhong Yinyue finds himself as the least significant elder in the protagonist’s sect. He immediately rushes out, finds Shen Changxue, and grabs him. Zhong Yinyue clutches him and shouts: “Brother! Listen to me! I’ve transmigrated into a book! This is a sect full of ungrateful wolves, you need to run, run far away, they’ll kill you, you need to escape!!”

Shen Changxue: Oh?

×

Shen Changxue doesn’t leave. Zhong Yinyue, anxious and feeling sorry for him, finds a way to transfer him from the protagonist’s master to his own sect. Then, he gradually realizes something is off. The plot that was supposed to oppress Shen Changxue suddenly shifts to the protagonist and his original master. Shen Changxue’s smile towards him also starts to seem strange.

Until Zhong Yinyue finds a Locking Immortal Love Curse placed on his wrist by Shen Changxue.

“Master,” Shen Changxue calls out pitifully, “Please lock your disciple up.”

A terrified Zhong Yinyue finally understands. Shen Changxue had long known he was in a book. He was reborn. He was a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

I love both Zhong Yinyue and Shen Changxue!

Yinyue is just like us, the readers. He saw his favourite dying after suffering inhumane torture and couldn't swallow the injustice. He transmigrated, held the power in his hand, and brought Changxue under his wing, giving him everything. Whatever Changxue did, he supported him. Changxue revealed his hatred and killing intentions, but that didn't scare our MC. The boy hugged him, coaxed him. The devotion of a reader towards their favourite character is truly touching.

Honestly, I really like transmigration novels, and Zhong Yinyue's... more>> character setting satisfied me. That's how a reader will defend their beloved character. That's how it should be.

If the character's sword pierces the sky, it's the sky's fault for getting pierced, not the character's!

The head of Gu: the one who made me cry. A true and deserving hero!!! -> For readers who hate the author for killing their favourite characters, you must read it to quell your thirst for revenge.

I wanted Wu Cang to travel to the modern world. It's just a whimsical thought. Why? Anyway, suffering is everywhere, whether in the real world or fiction. Wu Cang, we, and others probably won't see a world that's fair and just.

I also liked how the author provided a little backstory for other characters. The supporting characters didn't just feel 2D to me; they felt 3D and were portrayed very well! This story has potential for so many other stories within it. I wanted to read them, too.

There are several things I wish were added in this story: 1) ML's point of view; his feelings or thought process of how he fell for MC. I wanted more depth.

2) Extras were good, but I wish there were something more related to Wu Cang. I wanted to know how he was after everyone left one after another.

3) Yu Xun should've been taught a lesson- but never mind. That guy is brain-dead.

At last, I would recommend this to other readers!! Please give it a try. It's great, and a good read. <<less

Very solid. This is a stiry about a guy who's main goal is to make sure the senior brother lives a happy, torture free life. It's so soft and sweet I can't help it.

Anyway,

Spoiler

Im just so sooooooo glad that all the feelings I had about characters are correct. Ex: Ganyao. That bastard could've stopped but he didn't. He f*ckin go all the way until his death, not admitting that he's wrong.

I just love how sweet and doting ZYY to SQX like ??? He really say "i will kill for you, I will let you go on revenge, ill die for you" which is thank god SQX was like NO. LIVE FOR ME.

Also SQX is so so !!! To me. He's clearly traumatised and trying to keep the resentment in his heart stable as he act out his vengeance but he still has weakness he's not omnipotent. He cries and he leans onto ZYY (as he should!!!) he has issues (like ZYY said, it is hot af for SQX to put the life lock on him) and also HES SO ADORABLE XVSJSHJZSVSB. Hes so so possessive of ZYY I usually don't like this bc unfortunately many times this happens in romance, children/disciples also got the bad treatment but SQX doesn't mind it when the three disciples were close to ZYY.

ZYY is also a great protag to me. He taught his disciples and encouraged them to be free and willful, righteous and capable. He even tried to teach BRD to be hood but ehh that guy's rotten. He's soooooooo doting on SQX and when SQX confronted him abou6his feelings he didn't even tried to deny it for too long. He's like the husband that's down bad for his wife.

About Bai Rendong,

Spoiler

ngl I'm kinda disappointed that he blackened bc im such a sucker for raising a kid right, but it was overturned when WC said that he's actually a puppet WC made so. Eh.

[collapse]

This book has so many ongoing stories within it that it felt like I can dive into and learn more. Like the story of Wu Cang's disciple, the life at Tianjue Sect after, etc etc.

[collapse]

Also my favourite character gotta be Wu Cang he's so unserious and it's so hilarious. He does what he wants and there's no reason for it, only bc he liked it. Don't be fooled tho his whimsy is bc what happened long ago.

Anyway in my opinion, this book isn't great but it is damn good to me bc it hits all the sweet spot I like in stories. I wish I could kiss the author. <<less

After reading a lot of clear stream xianxia novels (the protagonist just levels up unimpeded) -- this novel is NOT clear stream and the antagonists likes to jump up to be an eyesore everywhere!!!! Annoying as hell!!!

Everyone in this sect is either a dog licker sycophant or a tyrannical egoist. Even the sect master is horrible. I've never felt so disgusted by the entire top sect of the cultivation world and want the MC to break away from this sect so much!! Urgh.

It got abit better after he came out... more>> from seclusion, but I still don't understand why they (the CP) hold their tongue and bother with letting the villains jump up so much.... it's annoying as hell!! After reading up to around half way, I think the dynamic is more akin to highschool life than xianxia? The way they're all intersecting as if they can only exist in this small space and be around each other. The bullying and forebearing. The teacher-discipline who teams up and bullies others and also pinch each other. It's a little ridiculous and doesn't usually exist so blatantly in this stream.

Also, the character setting and world building is pretty limited, the sect elders don't have bearings of being elders at all actually. There's something very worldly about them that is atypical of xianxia stories? The pacing is abit weird, I can't get the time right. At the beginning it's super slow, hour to hour. Sometimes it's just brushed through, this novel is kinda messy. I feel like there's not alot going on.

The ML isn't what I was expecting, he's deeply traumatized. Understandably. I think he's the bottom? The dynamic is more him being reliant on MC, and MC having to step up and take control of things to protect him. They kissed/got together around c76 so it's pretty fast. I don't know... I don't really like their chemistry bc I don't eat this set, but it might be for you? It's quite forward and greasy, the ML is coquettish. They still get bullied everywhere but now together I guess.

There's a lot of justifying why there's a problem with the protagonist and why the MC/ML have the right to hate him... I think they're just hypocrites lmao. The way the MC treats and thinks about the protagonist after he got together with the ML is so... eurgh.

Overall, there's a plot alright but I'm not sure if I'd recommend this novel. It's kind of a mess, but it's also... interesting? Sort of? I can't decide. <<less
