It just does not get better. This is not a romance novel. What the ML does is not love. There's genuinely not a single positive that came from this. No self reflection, revenge, nothing. Just a downwards spiral. I would give props that there was a warning. And for a certain audience out there that finds interest in tragedy, this could work for them. But this is not romance. So as a story written or intended as romance, this is the rating it deserves.

Something to note is that I've read the entirety of Try Begging, with very similar heavy tones. Try Begging sets up the circumstances and addresses the harsh reality that prevented romance from coming naturally. Both characters being flawed but able to come to that acceptance. Here there's no depth to the characters. There's no valid reasons, nor do you see that strength from the female lead. This is just a tragedy through and through. The male lead has no explanation or reason. Knowing the damage he's caused, he never hesitates to worsen her life even when the threat is not needed. It's not the matter that she keeps running away causing him to be harsh. She's given up on that since the beginning, it's the fact that it kept getting worse despite this, with running away being the only acts of sanity. Obedience did not guarantee any sort of happiness for her.

Overall if this was marketed differently, if the intentions of this story was portrayed properly, the story was not horrible and deserves a higher rating for those interested. But just not by me and by someone who can enjoy or at least understand the allure of this story better than I can. However, I still believe my opinion still being relevant despite this not being my taste, this is not a good romance.

That said, it would have been nice if the male lead were a bit kinder—maybe then Lily could have understood or sympathized with him. I've read up to chapter 15, but I came across a spoiler saying his personality doesn't improve; in fact, it gets worse. Still, I can't resist sadistic characters, so I'll gladly eat it up. Throw in some tragedy, and it's a recipe for something I'll absolutely love.

As the warning says, this story isn’t for everyone, so beware.

ML is a toxic, lovesick fool, and FMC has no choice but to submit to him. She resists hard, so don’t expect any romance—this is pure obsession, dependency, and a whole lot of kinky smut. ML has a serious breeding kink and wants FMC pregnant ASAP.

I’m still waiting for more chapters, but so far, I’m very entertained. I love extreme yanderes, but I know dark themes aren’t for everyone, so take the tags seriously. ML is completely insane—like, it’s never outright stated, but there’s no other explanation for his behavior... more>> besides full-blown mental illness.

If you are not into angst or red/ black flag ML, then its not your cup of tea. The story is well written and smut is hot! Just keep in mind that this novel is not for all. All in all it still great and I'm looking forward to its next chapter. 💙🩷❤️
