Jiang You never dreamed she would survive the claws of zombies only to be betrayed by the very family she protected.

Years later, she destroyed the experimental facility that imprisoned her.

Those who sold her out? Dead!

The base that betrayed her? Obliterated!

Who waits for the next life to settle their scores?

With her revenge complete, Jiang You exhausted her powers and self-detonated, but unexpectedly, she was reborn—half a month before the apocalypse broke out!

This time, she vowed to take back everything that was hers…

Stock up on food first, guns later—when the apocalypse comes, stay calm.

But just as she was ready to live quietly and hoard supplies forever, a tiny bottle cap fell from the sky. That’s when she learned her world was actually a book, and she was the villain who tragically died in the story?

If that’s the case, don’t blame her for being ruthless!

Sacrifice the heroine, unleash unlimited power!

When zombies erupted, other survivors were frantically fleeing.

Jiang You: “Hey, zombie up front, wait a second. Is that brain of yours ripe yet?”

While other survivors fought tooth and nail over scraps of food:

Jiang You: “Hotpot, BBQ, river snail rice noodles, roast duck, fried chicken, or Buddha Jumps Over the Wall… What should I eat today?”

When other survivors tried to use moral blackmail:

Jiang You: “Sorry, I don’t have morals. You can’t blackmail me.”

I'm nearly positive this was translated using GPT, looks good but is horribly inaccurate if you look at the raws. Seriously it looks like they cut out the prologue entirely. Some of it's out of order too. Series isn't worth bothering with unless this gets fixed, as what you're reading isn't really correct and you'll end up confused. Either MTL it yourself or read the raws if you can until someone else picks it up.

As for the story itself, it's aggressively average. It's pretty generic for this genre, you have... more>> an FMC who died miserably in the apocalypse and regressed (and conveniently picked up a space artifact and stockpiled stuff pre apocalypse), in a generic Chinese zombie apocalypse. Now honestly even if generic I really enjoy the premise of a strong MC in a survival setting, the problem is that it lacks direction and tension. As of chapter 127 the MC doesn't have any goals or direction. There no tension because she immediately became stronger than the zombies and had enough supplies to last a life time. Shes also just emotionally dull and doesn't care about anyone or anything. The author does this thing where they present a generic trope, like an "original heroine" a "transmigrator" a "evil abusive family" or whatever only for the MC to just immediately kill/solve the problem with zero drama. Like imagine a competent villain where instead of monologuing they just immediately shoot the hero in the head. That's the MC no drama no fuss just solve the problem. While interesting the first time, the 5th time it happened it was decidedly less so, I can't even consider it a genre deconstruction because it's always over near instantly- the premise isn't actually explored. My other issue with this is that the author seems to want to justify the MC being a crap person? And they did by just making everyone else an even bigger as*hole or made the few people who aren't gigantic raging a**holes either have no personality or made them compete idiots who die immediately. Seriously I can't think of a single character didn't fall into the category of A. Young master peng (eg. Gigantic raging a**hole) (like will mu*der you for daring to appear before them) B. Licking dog with no personality (insert "omg MC is so pretty and amazing I should praise them- a personality? What's that?") and last but not least C. Generic good guy who's s*upid and has an obligatory green tea b*** or a hypocritical white lotus who drags everyone down at their side. (Also proceeds to get mu*dered within a chapter or two at most- this actually happens more than once in the first 100 chapters). But the vast overwhelming majority fall into pot A, everyone just sucks and is so unbelievably arrogant. Like you'll read about someone eating bugs just to survive and next chapter they're giving a speech about how absurdly arrogant they are and mu*dering people for daring to exist in their holy presence, how did these dirty miserable bug eating people get such massive egos? So the actual story boils down to the MC just wandering around with no direction or goals until someone pops out and elects to win themselves a Darwin Award, the MC despite being a type A person seems immune to consequences via author bias and plot armor. So in conclusion it's not terrible but it's just really dull. I can think of at least 4 series with nearly the exact same premise that are significantly better than this, unless you've already read those and are really desperate to waste more of your life on this, I wouldn't bother. <<less

I think translation messed up a bit. Quality is good, but there are fragments that are put in wrong order, like in chapter 10 and 11: MC meets a sleeping guard, ignores him and collects materials in warehouse -> next scene she watches him sleep, takes his keys and walks into the warehouse, marveling how big it is for the first time. On some chinese websites the order of text fragments is sometimes randomly messed up. Translators probably haven't noticed it and translated it as it was. Or, the novel... more>> is really that bad, but I doubt author could be so terrible at his job that he wouldn't notice a scene randomly changing.

Edit: I started reading autotranslate from chinese site, the fragments were really messed up. Novel turns better as it goes on, but then after a while introduces annoying elements again. A mixed bag this one. <<less

I read this for the apocalyptic setting and also because I want to turn my brain off and read about an OP female MC but I got surprised by the sudden turn when a new character appeared and flipped everything I know about the first 60 chapters.

Major spoiler about the story:

Spoiler

The MC lives pretty much by herself and with her new cat but at some point (ch 68-69) in the story, it's revealed that she was originally a villain in the story and her death was already written in the book, which made her really angry.

While I'm not a newbie to MCs finding out that they're the antagonist in a novel, it's a surprise that it wasn't revealed earlier on. Then again ch 68/950+ is not that far into the story. Although the difference is the setting is in the apocalypse and not the normal business or showbiz novel and it's usually revealed in chapter one or two.

MC:

Spoiler

She can be really cold-hearted (she watched two bullies kill each other before the apocalypse and literally ripped a guy's mouth off who called her a sl*t) but knowing how much she suffered in her first life, I'm not surprised.

I also appreciate that she still helps people for her own selfish reasons but don't take it too well if she's treated as a hero. She just wants to survive and that's fine. She doesn't have to become a hero for the humanity that literally ate her.

She doesn't care much for people, considering how awful they treated her before but she still has some kindness hidden behind her cold personality.

Da Zhuang:

Spoiler

A silly cat who is a tsundere. He's really protective of MC and is annoyed at the humans who keep getting in MC's way.

They gain other strange creatures later on like a mouse (rat?) and a plant.

[collapse]

Zhang Shuhui:

Spoiler

Originally very weak, lazy, and a coward. But after MC found out about her knowledge, she took her in and trained her. The MC initially planned to kill her because of her secret but grew close to her instead.

She becomes a nanny after Yanchi appeared.

[collapse]

Yanchi (Yan Chi?) :

Spoiler

Her child though she hates being called mother since he's technically older than her even if he acts and thinks like a child. But because of his background, it's understandable why.

He's actually smarter than I thought, especially after he helped her create something she was struggling with.

He always fights with Da Zhuang and melts people's (also MC) hearts with his looks lol

[collapse]

Antagonist:

Spoiler

The White Dragon base have a lot of secrets and is extremely suspicious by the fact that they were too prepared for the apocalypse.

The MC learns that they're connected to her tragic life in her past life.

The story so far has a lot of mystery and action that keeps me reading. The way the MC discovers certain things is like a horror movie. There are so many twists and turns that it took me a whole arc to know the truth about a village.

Sadly, I can't find chapter 165 but it's fine. I still understood what they did without reading one chapter.

4 stars for now until I reach a certain point in the novel. <<less
