The sect leader of a certain small sect took in a personal disciple rumored to be a total loser who hadn’t broken through the initial three stages even after five years. The other disciples were in an uproar. They watched in disbelief as the sect leader treated this “useless basket” like a treasured pearl, stuffing her hands with top-grade spirit stones and high-quality spiritual treasures as if money meant nothing. The disciples thought the sect leader had gone mad.

Unexpectedly, just days later, the sect leader insanely kicked her into the territory of their rival sect, under the guise of encouraging her to gain more experience. The disciples of the Tuo Yue Sect pitied her, thinking she would be terribly bullied at the Shui Yun Sect.

However, within days, calamitous news spread:

– Disciples of the Shui Yun Sect encountered a beast tide, a disaster seen once in a millennium!

– The Shui Yun Sect was struck by lightning, destroying their temple!

– The ancient ancestor of the Shui Yun Sect failed yet another tribulation attempt against the lightning!

– The guardian beast of the Shui Yun Sect broke through its barrier and went mad, causing the senior elders to intervene and sustain severe injuries!

Within two months, the development of the Shui Yun Sect regressed by thirty years.

Meanwhile, Mo Yu, a once powerful figure who was killed by a tribulation lightning in her previous life, is reborn as a lowly errand disciple in a minor sect. Nonchalantly, she decides to just coast along, doing daily check-in tasks and sweeping around, living leisurely.

Suddenly, she is noticed by the sect leader, taken as a personal disciple, and even sent as an exchange student to make the sect proud. Well, she thought, wherever she goes, she just needs to survive, right? But as she continues this laid-back life, the sects around her keep collapsing, while her own sect’s status skyrockets.

Watching her master smiling with various top-tier cultivation resources in his arms, she realizes with a dazed expression:

A supreme calamity body? Capable of bringing misfortune to those around her? Comparable to a karmic tribulation? Turns out, she’s a jinx!

First 40 chapters were comedy gold, I loved them. Plot was intresting, MC was funny as hell, all together great read. But after some time one thing I didn't enjoy started to show, so I dropped novel.

Spoiler

Main antagonist bit*h is shown 30 chapters in. At first I thought she was just random villain, but she was appering more and more. Later you could guess that she's gonna be main opponent, her story and how she's gonna to act. I was disappointed at this point, this bit*h was going to show for next 300 chapters. As I said, you know from the start her abbilities and her character, it's nothing special, so it's soon got boring. But worst part, is that MC is stronger than her from the start. She has strength and multiple occasions to kill villain as soon as she shows up. But she's just ignoring it. Bit*h tries to brainwash sect? MC just stops it and goes her way. Bit*h tries to kidnap, torture and kill her? MC casually mental control her, but still goes with her plan. Then just ignores her and lets her escape. Then she gets info that bit*h is literally going to be responsible for death of every single person who protag knows and likes. I thought that at this point MC has to deal with her. But I checked and bit*h is showing till the end of novel. Wtf is this, whole novel is about dealing with unintresting villain, who reader knows everything about and whom MC could beat from the start. It's just forcefuly and badly lengthening the plot, I couldn't stand it, so I dropped it.

Go read 40 chapters because they're hilarious. More than this, you're reading on your own responsibility. <<less

I've read the novel to the end with the MTL and can definitely say that it is real fun novel. I like how every character is portrayed: everyone is given a chance to choose for themselves and if they keep acting as they do, author gives realistic reasons why. Only gripe for me, which made this solid 4.5 novel drop to 4 star is the adrupt end. Nothing is resolved and the story just ends just like that with a cliffhanger. There was definitely enough material for 100 more chapters.

Okay... more>> enough of that, I'll start describing the plot. In the novel, we follow our reborn protagonist Mo Yu. After failing to ascend and being reborn again, our MC just wishes to live quiet laid back life in the sect without cultivating, knowing it's just waste of time. However, the sect doesn't allow that after finding out she is misfortune, literly. This allows for funny events to happen while finding hints why no one can ascend and for whish to change it. The entire novel follows this premise and is actually really good, easy to digest and light hearted novel.

Do I recommend it? If you are bored and want some light hearted cultivation novel, then definitely. Just be resolved to be ready to be met with the worst cliffhanger after then ending. 🥹🥲 <<less

I first thought 4* for what was there and the ending. Like the other review. But I wanted to change it to 3* but idk how. Because who really wants to waste time on a story that isn't really finished?

Like others I liked it enough to MTL. Also like others I got slapped in the face with the to be continued ending...

It was completely abrupt, in the mist of the secret realm. You get introduced to the long awaited senior brother, added the mystery of the fairy world and demon... more>> cultivation. Somewhat of a battle taking place. Youre excited as you click to the next chapter and then met with shock of "to be continued... " In disbelief you have to check again and check author page. No that's it.

I feel cheated. Well sorta. It was a really fun story, though sometimes the author forgot some little tidbits the had already mentioned and mentioned it again like a new factory. Not sure about the background of the villain since she is said to be an actress, then escort (polite word) who only graduated elementary school then an escort that went to high school. But maybe that was an error in translation. It doesn't make much of a difference.

I can't read Chinese so I can't troll the net to see what's happening with this story in the future. It maybe completely dropped or maybe in the works or maybe there are hints to what happens in the authors other cultivation story (I doubt it) <<less

I read the free chapters and it's a quite good novel.

The MC is OP, but she earned it (in her past life anyway). She's kind but also ruthless.

There's character growth, it's shallow but there.

... more>> I can't really say much without spoiling which I don't wanna do, there's lots of mysteries and complexities about the world in this novel. And there's a reason why the MC is such a lazybones at the start of the novel.

There's also other interesting characters.

The only thing I have a tiny nitpick about is the villain being a total ***. I tend to like villains which is colored grey instead of black if that makes sense. Not wholy evil. Atleast she's somewhat entertaining thanks to the MC.

I didn't read the paid chapters, I'm not fussed missing out as im not made of money :P

Should you read this?

If you can stomach MTL or is fine paying for the locked chapters (195 or so is free) then YES!

Otherwise I recommend skipping this one. <<less

Amazing novel. I love it.

The MC was a smart and kind person.

There were no romance at all, which I liked.

This novel had many misunderstanding and comedy plots.

Her master were kind to her. I was suspicious of him at first, but he were kind after a while. Other senior sister and brother were nice too.

I wished the novel was longer. I could enjoy 1000 chapters of misunderstanding and comedy without romance.

Spoiler

At the last chaper, the original chosen protagonist died. Her system became mc's system.

Mc's system was updated and the new system promised to help her break the law of the world.

The novel had a very open ending. But it hinted to a happy ending.

I enjoyed it enough to finish it with MTL. FYI, the end is like running into a brick wall. Zero answers to the mystery of the ascension problem.

The writing is really good and so is the translation, but I took off a star because the novel ended really abruptly. There wasn't even an epilogue. One moment it's all action and then it's over.

Edit: I see that the status in COO has been updated to dropped, that explains a lot
