One day, on his way to his temporary job, his mother’s memento ring, the “Dragon’s Heart,” reacts, and Russel is given an unexpected chance. He “regresses” back to his days in the academy.

[You have received a mana stone (consumable) as a mission reward.]

That is how Russel begins soaring in life like a dragon who never got to spread his wings.

He crosses the waves called fate that had pressed down on him and flies into the bright world he was previously banned from.

I love it. I read the manhua and not the novel, but the story is really nice and although generic, still unique. It has so many elements: system, dragons, aura, mana, weapon masters, other creatures including giants and so on. Funny it has the harem tag here, because there's really no harem and that's the best part. There is a FL the MC likes and other main female characters are not just mindless love interests that loose all self will and self respect on their first meeting with the MC.... more>> You should really try it <<less

I really tried to be patient, but this novel is very bland, so I'm fed up with it.

The setting is okay. It's cliche, but okay. Although we got regression and ostensibly a system, the protagonist is not from an Earthling, so at least we have some distinction. We have academy, magic towers, aura users vs magicians, and various other cliches, so while bland, it can be good if spiced up.

Unfortunately, the spice is what is missing here.

The protagonist is a morally neutral hardworking character, and that's pretty much it. At... more>> first we had some nice signs of him being influenced by draconic nature, but I think the author forgot it pretty fast. Aside from that, there's really nothing much to the protagonist. Yes, he has a goal, but it's not really mentioned most of the time, and it doesn't feel like the protagonist evne remembers about it most of the time.

This novel is sorely lacking in secondary characters. For example, there's almost nobody who counts in the academy, and if they do, they're a professor or a bully. Like damn, not a single friend? The protagonist's social circle is extremely limited and boring. Also, in general, most secondary characters are just enemies who get quickly defeated. Again, boring. While there is MC's master and the master's other apprentices, their presence is pretty low most of the time.

The author sucks are pacing. One, there are missing scenes (e.g. MC starts a fight at the end of one chapter, but the next chapter starts from the aftermath of this fight, and we maybe get told how it ended), and the author doesn't seem to know the show, not tell rule, because he's frequently breaking it, making the pacing (and the plot itself) even worse. Two, while I can understand, accept, and approve of time skips at the academy, why the hell do they happen at awkward timings later as well (it feels as if the author didn't know how to progress the situation at hand, so he just skipped it).

There's a mess with translation. Only the first several chapters are edited well, and then, when you start seeing "pumpkin-colored eyes" instead of amber eyes you will know the quality deteriorates. Not sure if the editor quit or what. Oh, and the translation is inconsistent. The most egregious is the constant flipping of terms used between MC and the other disciples of their master, though I'm wondering if that isn't the author's bullsh*t to begin with (hyung, my lord, teacher, disciple, wtf man, take a leaf out of CN novels, at least they got this part right).

I really wanted to be patient and see the love interests, but I can't take it anymore. It's too bland and boring, there are not enough secondary characters so the story feels empty, and the writing issues mentioned earlier keep bugging me, so I started just skimming through chapters, which makes reading it any more pointless. <<less

Came from the manhwa. The setting and premise is cliche but since the protagonist is from a fantasy world we do get some interesting things which could have been amazing if the author polished it. Especially the MC getting influenced by the draconic nature was cool but then that plot point is quickly forgotten by the author.

Plus MC's personality itself is blander than white bread. Like sure he has a goal but other than that he has very few friends or interaction with people plus the secondary characters are either... more>> villains or helpers.

The awkward time skips definitely don't help with the already wonky packing so that's there.

Honestly the manhwa has a better experience because it does try to fix some of the pacing issues of the novel.

Overall a 2 star story that has potential but wasn't written up to it. <<less
