After dying in a major interstellar war, Gu Yun transmigrated.

The moment she opened her eyes, she was knocked down by a gust of fragrant wind.

Her scalp prickled, and she tried to push the person off her, but the scent stirred something in her body. The gland at the nape of her neck throbbed violently, reacting to the enticing fragrance. Moments later, her susceptibility period arrived prematurely…

What followed was a night of absurdity. By the time she regained her senses, the woman had disappeared.

Wanting to take responsibility, Gu Yun could only rely on her fragmented memories to return to the residence of her current body’s original owner.

Faced with the sight of the shabby room, she sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose.

The body she now inhabited was that of a hostage sent from another country. With no support system and a pitifully harsh life, it was clear that this existence had been anything but kind.

The only piece of good news? Her Alpha physique had also crossed over with her.

Before she had time to adjust, however, her relatively peaceful life in the foreign Yu Kingdom was upended by startling news: the Seventh Princess of Yu was holding a consort-selection banquet.

At the banquet, Gu Yun, having attended merely to make up the numbers, had no intention of becoming the royal consort.

Yet life often unfolds contrary to one’s expectations.

To her utter disbelief, she caught the faint scent of her own pheromones lingering on the Seventh Princess.

And if that wasn’t enough, she overheard a palace maid whispering, “They say the Seventh Princess had an affair and is pregnant with a bastard child. That’s why she’s so eager to find some fool to marry her…”

In spite of all the unsatisfying plot points, it was a good read. A bit more polishing and this will be golden. The other readers are right. The timeline can be confusing and there are parts that feel haphazardly written in.

Lots of details were fed by the narrator, not the story itself. Instead of letting the characters or the scenes tell the reader what's happening or what the motives or background story/ies are, the narrator drops it on the reader instead, which makes it lose some emotional impact. For example,... more>>

3rd Prince's true motives could have been leaked bit by bit instead of dumping it all on the day he died.

The time-traveller MC got the original body's memories. I just love that fact.

I like the final two villains. I like the reasons why they became villains. In contrast, I didn't like the main couple too much. I can't get hooked on how they fell in love. It all feels so shallow for me. Maybe it's just me.

I liked most of the other supporting characters. I like that they had depth but there are times when I wish that depth was explored more.

I love the mess that is Jiang Ying, the Fifth Princess. I loved her even more with that background story. Author probably found it hard to fit it in the main story so they gave it to us as an extra chapter. But, it would have been better if bits of it were dripped into the main story instead.

Her actions would have made more sense. She could have been more of an effective villain, instead of the plain unrequited love.

Most conflicts got solved easily. By that, I meant the circumstances seem to favor our main couple one way or another. They get out of harm's way many times by luck or because they are well-loved. It's all too convenient. The build-up to the conflict can get intense but the resolution is kinda anti-climactic.

The love scenes never captivated me. They're too vague that it's hard to paint a concrete image, and often too bland to leave an impact. Skirting censorship is hard, huh? And the main couple just has s*x way too much. It's like the author doesn't know how to make a flirty or romantic scene without it. And, the MC is too coercive at times. Why do many authors find that hot?? If your partner says stop, you should stop.

In other words, the plot is interesting but needs to be fleshed out more properly, and most of the characters were interesting. It's lighthearted with a bit of angst but it's never too heavy. <<less

It's honestly pretty wholesome, but there's so much royal family drama that it takes you (or at least me) out of the romance and more onto the political side.

It's a 91 chapter story with a few extras, while misunderstandings between the couple get resolved fairly quickly (around 10 chapters, but that's not really that quick).

The MC is your strong female alpha protagonist, but compared to stories with similar premises, her "advantage" has a limit and isn't very useful most of the time. She's technically the golden retriver type of MC.

The... more>> FL, on the other hand, is less cold, more on tsundere. She quickly warms up to the MC, albeit with a violent tsun personality.

It's just that so much sht happened in a span of 90 chapters that I didn't really enjoy it as much as I would normally have. And I especially love ABO Chinese GL

To summarize,

  • Political drama
  • Minor misunderstandings
  • Alpha MC with a dck
  • Minor childcare

I love the concept except I wish that the story timeline was more clear and more complex. It has some basic story elements that tend to get assumed and glossed over but they mc’s get together fairly quickly albeit not fully so it’s nice to see the progression.

3.5, tentatively. I enjoyed the novel a fair bit. It has fluffy romance, reasonable amount of angst and cute characters cameo, so all in all a pretty satisfying read.

Unfortunately, because of the premise of the story, there's plenty of dub/non-con moments between the main characters (and some of the side characters, though that isn't really central to the story). I feel at moments Gu Yun comes across as a little manipulative and coercive, which takes me out of the story sometimes and question myself if I would tolerate her behaviour... more>> is she's just a man, not a female alpha with extra bits.

The story feels unpolished at moments, and there's plenty of conflicts being dropped into the main characters' way that feel they came out of a left field at times. I wish the same trope of injured chatacters at the brink of death isn't repeatedly used over and over again, but I gobble it up anyway so I guess readers like me are to be blamed for this.

The extras are alright, though I wish it could go on longer. All in all, I would recommend this to someone to read with extra caution on the dub/non-con moments, and

an implicit mention of s*xual assault in the extras.

I wish the main villain is someone else, with a different motive, but it is what it is. <<less
