Yan Li became the stepmother of the sadistic hero in the novel. In the original novel, the hero’s father was busy with work and neglected to discipline the hero. He raised the hero into a s*umbag who forced the heroine to have an abortion, and ab*sed the heroine while loving the supporting actress.

As the contract wife of the hero’s father, Yan Li sneered that other people’s sons have nothing to do with me.

She is only responsible for being beautiful every day! If she has nothing to do, make some money to raise your two-and-a-half-year-old baby.

Unexpectedly, this cheap son looked for her when he was idle. She, a stepmother, lived a hard life as a mother for the hero and had to raise two children at once. Yan Li felt that she couldn’t do it and tried to discuss it with the male protagonist who was still a high school student.

After listening to this, Gu Yiyi said coldly, “Oh, who asked you to marry my father? Don’t worry. I will raise you.”

Yan Li: Who wants you to support me in my old age?

Yan Li was angered into asking her child’s father to divorce. She thought it would be easy.

As a result, Gu Heng coaxed gently, “If you think he is annoying, go on a trip for a walk. Tell me where you would like to go. It doesn’t matter if you are gone for a year and a half. Think carefully before mentioning divorce.”

Yan Li: ????

When the young male protagonist heard that she wanted to divorce his father, he immediately panicked. He found Yan Li and said, “I heard that you asked my father for divorce. If you two divorce, Yan Beibei will be pitiful. Besides, it’s not easy for my father to find a partner at his age… [divorce] really doesn’t work. I won’t look for you if I have something to do in the future. I’ll look for him.”

It's still super early, so I won't give a star review yet. That said, there are some good things and bad things so far.

The bad thing is the lack of consistency in world settings. The stepson has been mentioned as both a Middle and high schooler, I still don't know which it is. He smokes, though, and his ex is too promiscuous to be a middle schooler, so probably high school? Though, his attitude is definitely that of a middle schooler.

The good (?) thing is this stepmother isn't a mary... more>> sue. In fact, towards the stepson, she's definitely too uncaring as of right now, judging him based off of who he'll become in the future instead of who he is: a child who is rebelling for attention, and he does lack attention. I kind of like this, because he is a mean one who needs tough love. Any love, actually, because the father is a failure.

Anyway, neither the stepmother nor the stepson are particularly right or wrong. I want to see them warm up to each other and become a proper family, but they have a long way to go. <<less

I want to give a higher rating but in the end I decided that i'll only give 2 star due to the following reasons

  • MC pretty much doesn't really give a crap about her stepson
  • in my opinion the romance between MC and ML is almost non existent
  • MC doesn't even try to get to know her stepson, right from the get go she basically is like "i don't need to care or know you even tho I will be living in your house cause I am a stepmother and your not my kid. So I don't have time to waste time caring about you"
  • lots of plot holes, don't even understand why they would add the "transmigration" part into the novel when it could do well without it cause it doesn't make a big difference in the novel
  • wished that went into more detail with MC and ML's past sine it's only describe briskly
  • ending was fast and came to an abrupt end

MC is a bit annoying. I know that she's indifferent with the stepson, but to rub salt on wound about his unknown mother? He's only a teenager, not yet an adult.. It's understandable that he's a bit immature here and there, but do you as an adult have to poke him where it hurts just because something inconvenient you? You can just say that you cannot or you can but you will not pay much attention. Adulting means that you know when to push and to pull. In this case,... more>> you keep pushing so things went about your way. That's selfish af. <<less

It's a good novel the MC has the ability to recognize that she is not going to beloved or love her stepson at first. They might hurt each other but they still care about one another. Like the ML said she is so hard-spoken but soft-hearted.

I think this is a really good novel. You can see in the beginning that the stepmother doesn't care much for her stepson and tends to ignore him or treat him with a grain of salt, and at the same time the stepson tries to kick her and her daughter out, but as you read more of the story and the stepmother and son and daughter interact more they start to become closer. Although the stepmother won't say it out loud, she cares for him deep down. She shows in... more>> her little ways how she cares and worries for the child. She even tries to get his father involved and tells him that he should be more involved in his son's life. All I can say is, for me, so far this is a great read, and I feel as though you should read it yourself to know if this is your cup of tea. <<less
