Duke, Please Let Go of My Ankle!

In a dawn-inspired haze, I accidentally sent a love letter.

And of all people, it went to Derek Frith, the Duke who’s first on the war draft list, ranked number one as the man likely to break the bed on the wedding night, and known as the Blood Sea of Kriant…

Your Grace! I beg you, please return it unopened!

[(Exclusive) Duke Frith: “I will undoubtedly find the letter’s author.”]

[(Breaking News) Ducal Palace official: “The culprit is exceptionally cunning… They will pay a bloody price.”]

The letter that should have remained sealed was ultimately exposed to the world.

But… The man who seemed poised to end Audrey’s life at any moment is behaving rather oddly?

He’s donning elaborate attire he’s never worn before,

And his words hover between compliments and thinly veiled threats.

“Your eyes remind me of the hilt of a treasured sword.”

“…Pardon?”

“It was a beautiful sword granted by His Majesty before the war. As soon as a fly landed on it, it would have been split in two. It had a beautiful green hilt… but it turned red as it was stained with blood. Human blood never washes off, no matter how much you scrub.”

“!”

Audrey’s face turned pale.

‘Does he mean he wants to cut off my breath too?’

A romance of mutual misunderstanding between a lifelong single Duke making somewhat strange advances, and Audrey, who got herself entangled due to one mistakenly sent letter.

Sorry, again, the translation, it just doesn’t cut it for me. Confusing to an extend. You want to know if a story has a good understandable writing? Put it into an audio form and listen to it. If you can understand who says what, and when; etc. you’ll know that it’s a good quality writing, which helps the reader see through the eyes of the author. It’s well conveyed for the other parties. Now! In the other hand! if it’s all over the place, with no sense or point of... more>> direction... then... buddy... it’s a bad writing. Im sorry. I ain’t blaming the translator, maybe it’s the story itself, who knows. <<less

I can say with 100% certainty that it was due to the translation, to answer Smaforte12's question. And that's despite only skimming through the first chapter. After reading the new translation on Dusk Blossoms, you'll know what I mean. A big thank you to the new translator at this point. You don't even know how long this novel has been rotting on my Reading List, and thanks to you, I can finally enjoy this story. I'm not a fan of misunderstandings, but here this trope serves the comedy and is... more>> extremely well executed. At some points, you can't help but smile when Derek once again throws everything into chaos through his (I'm quoting something from the description here) AggressivelyDancingTheCourtshipDanceOfTheOtherWorld, or rather teaches his Dodori to fear again. His POVs are the best part of the novel. So if you're in the mood for RomCom, I can highly recommend this story. <<less
