Lu Baiwei and her stepsister Lu Jiaojiao were both reborn.

In their previous lives, Lu Jiaojiao stole Lu Baiwei’s childhood betrothal and married He Ting, a young intellectual from the capital. For a while, she enjoyed a life of prestige. However, trouble soon struck He Ting’s family, and they were exiled to work on a rural farm. Lu Jiaojiao ended up helping raise He Ting’s niece and nephew, but the burden became unbearable. She eventually eloped with a truck driver, only to discover he was a human trafficker who sold her to a remote mountain village.

Meanwhile, Lu Baiwei, under her stepmother’s arrangements, married Yin Zhihe, a poor villager. Initially, life was tough, but Yin Zhihe soon took advantage of the opportunities brought by China’s reform and opening-up era, amassing considerable wealth. Their family unearthed hidden antiques and gold bars, and an uncle living in Hong Kong left them an inheritance worth billions.

When Lu Baiwei opened her eyes again, she was back at the age of eighteen—the year they got married. She discovered that her stepsister, Lu Jiaojiao, had already sneaked off with Yin Zhihe to the haystack at the village’s threshing ground.

Lu Baiwei smiled. “Go ahead, take him!”

In this life, she wouldn’t have to work herself to the bone to support Yin Zhihe’s entire troublesome family. Yin Zhihe wasn’t even capable in that aspect, and she wouldn’t let herself become the “hen that doesn’t lay eggs” in everyone’s eyes again.

She decided to marry He Ting, not just to escape her s*umbag father and stepmother’s leeching family, but unexpectedly, the seemingly aloof He Ting turned out to be a devoted husband. After marriage, she even had triplets and lived a blissfully happy life!

Female lead is a doormat despite reincarnation. I'm still at chapter 27 but sh*t she's a doormat but still better than most, a question for the author though: your female lead has a mouth why does she need her cousin to speak for her? She has her mother's family backing her up what is she afraid of? She can think for herself but why not let her speak? Is she low key clout chasing for people to label her a saint, someone demure? Confucianism and all, why does this teachings... more>> seem to be misconstrued by some authors? I'm sure Confucian teaching doesn't teach you to leave your morals, uphold society just for clout or not think for yourselves? I hate when authors do this when they portray ancient people shameless, with no dignity and morals specialy those from the country side. Ancient people are much more resilient and adaptable than most of us modern denizens. <<less
