He had four disobedient disciples, who now achieved success, won recognition and established their own sects.

The embarrassing thing is that it was him who drove those four out of his sect to make them independent.

But one day he had an incident and lost his cultivation. His life was hanging by a thread. Wandering around, he walked into his third disciple’s territory.

What should I do?

Mountains and seas can be tamed, days and nights can disappear.

Only you, the exceptional you, refuse to give up.

——

A man blessed with fortune, the best in his generation, had an accident and started anew; broken in body but firm in spirit, he now uses his wisdom to guide his evil disciples back to the right path.

this is my third meng xi shi novel after qianqiu and wushuang. well the plot is good but as is typical for meng xi shi for romance very slow... but actually some things are revealed implicitly like when MC first came back from huangquan he has forgotten everything but the only thing he remembers is ml... maybe this feels a bit sweet... but romance really isn't all there is here. the story focuses more on the plot, even though I want there to be a lot of sweet things from... more>> MC and ML but never mind when it comes to a little sweet thing it still makes me a little happy... especially during pov MC at least it feels sweet, and when MC states the feeling and the promise is also sweet... <<less

Thanks to Jinyutranslation, all the footnotes are really appreciated!

I haven't read that much cultivation novels before this and I read this because I love Meng Xi Shi's work.

It's a slowly wrenching your heart out romance that did not focus on the romance at all but rather finding the meaning of your existence and how to prevent the villian from destroying the world. Also the time travel plot is very creative and daring. I like it, 4.5/5. Definitely one worthing a reread

The first half was really great, where we get introduced to the world and this potentially OP MC as the plot slowly unravels, revealing shocking twists.

that screwed everything up for me. It became quite convoluted and hard to engage with logically and emotionally.

Some things felt awfully convenient

Spoiler
  • Souls separating from bodies and placed back in somehow without repercussions.
  • Random small villains to help build the story and our hero’s strength
  • the number of times MC vomited blood and got injured, near death, yet somehow survives
  • The revelation that they were faking the strained relationship all along? And sudden acceleration of love and bam! Random mention of dual cultivation

It was still well-written in that it was engaging enough with the constant flow of events and plot, with random bits of story & side character build that MXS writes so well. Same thing with Thousand Autumns in so much build to a climax that sudden just deflates. Wish there was more extras and afters.

The romantic aspect is confusing because most of the time they’ve forgotten or they’re pretending and doing it so well that I, the reader, can’t discern whether there’s actual build up. The parts that do happen are cute and tingly but so rare!!

Not sure if I will reread because

This is my second time reading as I read the MTL before because it wasn't translated that time. I specifically read this cause I'm a fan of both "Thousand Autumns" and "Peerless". Compared to them this was a much of a slow burn which made me impatient to be honest. Time travel is another topic that I'm wary of which plays its role here. The missing 1 star is exactly because of those reasons.

As every MXS book this one's plot was intriguing from the very beginning.

The MC's character is praise... more>> worthy. He appears to be heartless on the surface but really cares about those who are close to him. He is a loyal and trust worthy character. His half white hair caught my eye which reminded me of Wushi from Thousand Autumns though the style is different... hahaha...

The ML is the devoted guy in each and every way whose everything is his master which made pink bubbles in my heart all along the novel despite the lack of romance.

Anyway, recommended to read this masterpiece!!! <<less

shizunfuccer? shizuuuun is sooo handsoooome.

... alright alright, first of all, the characters are actually great! every one of them has their own thinking and ambitions. it's just the amount of casualties and damages (?) is alarming. I can say this one has the biggest deaths in MXS's history. the battle scenes are still awesome tho.

from the start till near ending.. are wonderful. but frankly, the ending is felt unfulfilled... I must say, there are some glaring plot holes.

what happens to Yun papa and mama after the big final battle??? man I need answer but even if I read all extras, nothing is said about them. just take them living happily till the execution, ig. this is what you get in time travelling plot: confusion and inconsistency.

i must admit, this CP is awfully sweet, fluff and blatant, compared to other MXS novels (i see you, FengCui). but no snusnu r18 eh...? *sigh*

cough, I thank the translator for bringing this one to english readers. those proverbs and all the terms are very crazy right, hahaaa <<less
