In his previous life, when Ye Chaoran was 16 years old, he was suddenly visited by a rich man who told him he was the young master of the Fang family who lived in a different city.

Little did he know that the purpose of his biological parents was just to find a heart for his brother who had a heart disease.

The parents who he tried to please: “When the operation is successful, we’ll directly announce that he suddenly died.”

The older brother he wanted to be close to: “Don’t appear in front of me. Disgusting.”

Even the man Ye Chaoran cared about most only regarded him as a substitute.

As for his beloved younger brother Fang Yan, Ye Chaoran thought he was the only one who was good to him. Until the last moment, when he showed his true face.

It turns out that all along, he’s only been ridiculed, rejected, and hated.

Then he was reborn.

Now, Ye Chaoran just wants to repay his adoptive parents, get revenge while he’s at it, and live his life well.

Ye Chaoran, who’d just been found, refused to leave with his biological parents. The Fang family tried everything, giving him houses and cars, then persuading, then coercing. Finally, they prepared to kidnap him by force.

But bodyguards in black descended from the sky and threw the garbage aside.

An old man showed up, looking calm and proud: “Who dares to touch anyone from my Ye family?”

Ye Chaoran was confused: “Who is this?”

The adoptive father looked sad: “My father.”

Only then did Ye Chaoran realize that his adoptive father turned out to be the richest man’s runaway son!

His family is countless times richer than the Fang family!

My rating of 2/5 feels generous, coz, this is one of the most boring rebirth story I have ever read. Characters feels flat, often immature and unrelated. Posing as dog-blood, you won't even get the satisfaction of revenge on behalf of MC, because the whole plot premise is as if written by immature 20 Yr old, who does not know how law, social norms works.

MC's original family - them most s*upid ppl I have read. At some point, It started feeling like they've been possessed by system or something that... more>> implants false narrative in their brain, so I was waiting the whole time for them to wake up. And don't even get me started on MC's twin. Dude was on full delusional mode the entire novel. Smh

MC's adopted family - Author tells us they are the most powerful family, repeatedly, but that's all. You don't get to see one instance where you can feel those words. Apart from that, they are a supportive family who truly takes care of Cheron.

ML - miniature imitation of typical cold Ceo we see in CN novels. Oftentimes, he serves as a side character whose main purpose is to fawn over MC.

Overall, go ahead with this novel, if you are truly bored or if you need break between reads that need you to use your brain to understand the plot. <<less

Hello! I'm the translator of this novel. I enjoyed it thoroughly, so I'd love it if others do too.

So, although the premise of Ye Chaoran's past life is a gritty one, this novel for the most part will not be anything of the sort.

Instead, what you'll find is deep familial love that transcends blood, a kind hearted protagonist that deserves the world, and a sickeningly sweet romance from two extremely silly, funny, and inexperienced high schoolers who have no idea what they're doing.

All in all, you're in for a very... more>> sweet ride! There is conflict, but it never drags on, and the evil people always ultimately get their due.

Spoiler

Even in the original timeline where MC died, none of them have good endings. But good luck reading about it without shedding a few tears.

[collapse]

As for the rest, I think I'll let you all discover for yourselves. I hope you'll enjoy it just as much as I did! <<less

Personally, I found this novel rather generic and bland. There's no real depth to either characters or plot and everyone comes off as one-note.

The villains, MC's biological family, are the most boring evil family members who don't understand what they're doing is wrong and think the whole world revolves around their baby Yanyan (MC's evil white lotus twin). Characters like these would be fine in a more entertaining ridiculous novel or a short world in a quick transmigration novel where depth is sacrificed for pacing or entertainment.

In a longer novel... more>> like this, they just come across as mustache twirling cartoon characters where they're so evil to the point of comic. (MC's dirty little paws touched my tea set throw the whole tea set away! Ewww)

MC himself isn't much more interesting. He's the reborn protag who knowing the true faces of these comically evil biological family members, repels them and sticks to his adopted family but as with everything else, he comes across a little bland.

There's a certain level of immaturity in the writing of this novel. Things like random crowd npcs changing their mind based on one cool comeback from protag or their gang. Granted that's not uncommon but it doesn't help the flatness of this novel.

If this is your initial foray into rebirth/better life novels, it could serve as a serviceable read but otherwise, I suggest a skip. <<less

The story is a solid 3.5 out of 5.

Translation:

5/5 really well done.

... more>> Story:

3/5

Notes:

Nothing special but not bad. Something to binge read to pass the time. Not focused on romance so much as it is about family and friends being supportive and how much that can effect someone's life.

Detailed review:

Is there anything wrong with this story? Nope. Its just kind of... plain.

Its a solid story. I don't even think that the villains are unrealistic. I have met people who are that delusional. They're not "over the top unrealistic cartoonish villains", they're just abnormal. Including the fact that they're mega rich, and they're pretty realistic.

The translator did a fantastic job with translating this novel. The quality is quite high and they did an amazing job at making the writer understandable and fluid to read. If you do decide to give this novel a try, please write them a nice comment if you can. I've noticed they don't get much attention/comments.

The problem with this novel is not that there's anything wrong with the writing or translation. The problem is that nothing particularly interesting happens.

This is a novel one binge reads to pass the time. Its enjoyable but not particularly interesting or special.

In case you're wondering what it is about (because we all know the summaries are never accurate and I know I always check the reviews to see what the story is actually about) :

The story is about how the main character, through the support of his friends and family, leads a normal high school life and avoids being kidnapped and mu*dered by his OG!Family.

Its basically the Story of "My sister's Keeper" if the character of Anna was reborn and had an adopted family to save her.

In more detail:

Spoiler

Its about a boy who was abandoned, adopted by very loving parents, and then years later his original family pressures him to come back with them, and through the power of miscommunication, he goes with them because he thinks his adopted parents want him to. He is them ab*sed and mu*dered because his brother wants his heart to have a healthier body.

He then is reborn at the point where he would be forced back by his original family, and refuses.

The Fang family tries to get him back through various manipulations and attempts, but are thwarted by people who are (understandably) not okay with a rich family harrassing a 16 year old boy and his parents.

He makes friends with a boy and they become good friends, and later (and by later I mean the end of the novel) they become boyfriends.

[collapse]

The romance is a slowburn. The novel's focus is not romance, its focus is on the power of having the support of family and friends.

The rich grandpa doesn't even show up until past halfway through the story. He's literally just a plot device.

Frankly, this is the kind of story that "I transmigrated into a sickly villain" stories happen in.

If this was written in the format of some guy transmigrating into Fang Yan and him trying to avoid his grizzly end and the tragedy his family meets, I wouldn't even question it.

*fearfully looks around to check there's no Truck-kun*

The story ends at 62 chapters, and there are extras, but frankly literally all the plot has been resolved by chapter 60 and I can't bring myself to read the last two wrap up chapters and I'm not interested in the extras at all. <<less

I enjoyed it until the kidnapping incident. It's when I realised that the author made the characters handle a gruesome issue with such immaturity.
  • No matter how young or isolated MC was in previous life, he faced the darkness of humanity and couldn't be untainted. He had so many ways to deal with Fang family but chose to be passive. He didn't even have the awareness to always have company or to hire bodyguards. If he found himself limited by his age, he should have confided in his parents. I can't respect his passivity.
  • The grandparents were extremely childish and irresponsible. This was a life and death situation but they could procrastinate reconciling with their son and warning him of the danger.
  • It's disgusting when victims turn into perpetrators. The one who caused MC's tragedy was a deranged man in prison who faced no further consequences. The Ye family didn't immediately deal with Fang family when there was the slightest possibility that someone else could fall victim to their scheme.
It irked me how such an insidious family could be so easily toppled. It irritated me that MC easily escaped the kidnapping. It threw me off and reminded me I was reading fiction.

My pro is the translator. I liked her comments.

MC's first life was truly miserable after he returned to his biological family, but his goal after rebirth wasn't really to get revenge but rather to live a good life with the new chance he was given. His biological family just couldn't let him go though, so revenge does get served after all. The author definitely improved since their other novels, and I found the plot in this to be pretty well planned.

The hypocritical behavior of the biological parents really made my blood boil like I don't think I've ever... more>> hated characters more. They talk about MC's adoptive parents being bad people and MC not treating them well as his biological parents, when they're literally planning to sacrifice MC to save his brother. Actually horrible people, and the lack of self awareness makes it that much worse. Twin brother can also rot in hell for all I care. The older brother does have redeeming qualities, as he's also a victim of the shitty family, but it is too little too late at this point for the MC.

Adoptive parents are the sweetest and they definitely make up for the homicidal urges that the other parents give me. They have a great relationship with each other, and love MC dearly. About MC's coming out:
Spoiler

MC has one of the most chill coming out scenes I've ever read, and his parents are so supportive they're basically already building a ship for their son and ML before the two have even gotten together. Grandparents are also accepting which I found surprising given how they were originally opposed to their son's marriage- I guess social class trumps gender?? Also apparently this is a world where gay marriage is legal so we do love that.

[collapse]

Something I find pretty refreshing with this novel is that ML is also a high schooler and not some 26 year old CEO like a lot of other rebirth novels. Their relationship begins with the classic mistaken love letter trope, which I personally love both for the misunderstanding trope and for the embarrassment that will undoubtedly come to ML when he finally realizes he misinterpreted everything. His brain hole really is funny though, he's half "I must stop being so friendly or he'll fall deeper for me!" and half "It's a bit nice being liked by such a handsome boy, falling in love isn't so bad" haha

The romance is very cute, but it's definitely the most high school type romance I have ever read. They're both pretty shy (so much blushing omg) and new to being in love, and physical intimacy wise:
Spoiler

they don't even kiss in the main text.

Usually couples get together after confirming feelings, but this ML is hilarious saying at his 18th birthday that it's illegal for adults to date minors so he has to wait for the 17 year old MC to also turn 18 even though they both clearly like each other at this point and both their parents think they're already dating. Also apparently they aren't allowed to date in school...?

[collapse]

MC's biological family goes down in flames by the end and it's quite satisfying, since their downfall is mostly self-inflicted as well. Other characters that start sh*t also get their due. Rating this a bit higher than I might otherwise since I cried in the extras:
Spoiler

with the continuation of the past timeline after MC's death, just thinking about ML and how he never got the chance to get to know and fall for MC before his death, and also for the grandfather who never got the chance to reconcile with his son or properly cherish his grandson. Actually heartbreaking.

I can’t believe I actually spent time on this. It’s plain at best, and most of it are just questionable. You can read this for when you want to turn off your brain. I am numb from reading how both MC and ML are just VERY SHY around each other, and how MC always has a red face, and ML has red ears. Thanks to the author for reminding me again and again, that might as well be the main point of this story. But alas, it’s a rebirth story... more>> with an abandoned baby, a very crazy biological family in contrast to a very supportive adoptive family, and don’t forget the high school part where the MC is always first in the grade, has a pleasant personality and everyone just loves him, and then of course the almighty ML who is very rich and can do anything. It’s basically a hodgepodge of tropes, but there isn’t much depth.

Not fan of extras so I’m stopping where the main story ends. <<less

As said in the summary, MC was reborn after getting killed by his biological family, Fang. He was abandoned as a baby but the Fang family came to find him and tried to take him back to cut out his heart and replace it with his sickly twin. Everyone in the family is rotten to the core including the twin.

MC's adoptive dad turned out to be the son of the Ye family who are richer and more powerful than the Fang family. ML's family is also on par with the... more>> Ye family. So they were a lot of help in protecting MC from the Fang family. It's more reasonable as MC was still a powerless teenager and he couldn't actually do much to the Fang family. Most of the face-slapping was done by his adoptive grandparents and ML.

ML was cute. At first you'd think he's a typical smart, proud, confident young master. He is but he's also really shy. He thought MC was in love with him and was gonna let him down gently later. Then he found out he misunderstood and he was so embarrassed. He started crushing on MC first. MC developed feelings later. But they were both super shy. Their families were super supportive of their relationship. <<less

Finally finished reading this novel. I had put it to the side since I lost interest and became distracted with other novels. Recently, I came back and decided to skim through the remaining couple chapters and it was as I expected.

The story itself is very typical. Not in a bad way. It has your one-dimensional cast of characters, with a single-minded desire that trumps common logic, dog blood and a fairy tail ending. The good thing is that the story is short and the author doesn't drag out the revenge.... more>> It comes very quickly and everything just collapses on the bad people's heads. The romance feels very in the background, which is just as well because the point of the whole story was to get back at people and not to find love.

All in all, an easy and short read. <<less

I liked it cute a bit, it is mainly fluff and cute moments between the MC and ML as well as their families. I do find it a little repetitive and boring at times. Overall, it is a short, easy read with face-slipping sprinkled in.

It's a short read that I really enjoyed. You can definitely complete it within a day. Typically stories of such premise would have been much longer so I appreciated that the author kept this relatively short and simple. It's good but not good enough to be 4, so I'll rate it 3.5/5. It's a novel that I might reread if I'm bored or ran out of novels to read.

It is also surprisingly cliche but not cliche at the same time. What I mean is that the clichés will typically involved... more>> successful kidnapping and the ML / family will come in time to resolve or save the MC. Although such situations were in the novel as well, it's not cliche because it is attempted kidnapping at most and did not succeed so there's no "saving" required. But it's cliche at the same time because I expect that unlike the typical troupe, the kidnapping or whatever bad events that are meant to happen will be resolved before it happens and the "villains" would not get their way.

Overall it's an enjoyable read with the right amount of drama and right amount of fluff. Appreciated that the author provided extras to let readers have a glimpse on what happened before the rebirth and how it all wrapped up. Would be great if there was multiple reborn characters or that the MC shared his experience with the ML or something similar but all good as long as this 2 cuties got their HE. <<less

I'm satisfied. Loved MC and ML and their families (Ye family in MC's case). I find really interesting the "butterfly effect" that MC not going with bio-family had. Liked Fang family ending.

Spoiler

about the extras, the one about the original timeline left me on the floor crying, an author can't do this to me.

[collapse]

Recommended, seriously. You have drama, face slapping and fluff. The characters aren't build very profound but it's enjoyable if you are looking for something light. Probably won't reread, I'm sure I'll keep remembering this one.

I really need to give more sub-4.0 star novels a try. I think reading terrible 4+ novels has scared me away in an 'if 4 star novels are that bad 3 stars must be awful' way.

Anyway, this story was fine, not great not good but fine! Read it in an afternoon to satisfy my craving for an easy revenge story. And that's what this is. The MC is a teen, so aside from knowing who not to trust he's not able to scheme himself. He's just focused on loving those... more>> he lost and standing his ground.

The villains are definitely easy to defeat, but nothing that makes me complain out loud or stop reading. And they're over the top, but honestly the whole heart mu*der premise is bonkers, so it's basically in line.

I'd give this a 3.5, but want to help boost the rating so it's a 4 here. <<less

A cute, wholesome novel. It’s just the generic formula of munching on dog food while watching the face-slapping of 2-dimensional villains; a good read to pass the time but ultimately nothing new.

This is a cute story. It has the type of face slapping where the enemies seem to run up to get face slapped, which honestly doesn't feel very satisfying. There are some villains that I feel sorry for, especially in the rebirth timeline (the brothers, even the heart robbing one, and the original love interest). The author tries to both make the people nuanced but have the MC reject them unconditionally, which just felt awkward. Also, the flashbacks were laughably awkward. The author just forced them in unnaturally whenever the... more>> MC was talking to people or wandering around.

Overall, the premise is nice. The major plot points feel forced. The characters feel two dimensional. The novel feels a bit amateur. Yes, the story was short, but it could stand being even shorter. I do like the translator's comments at the end of each chapter though. <<less

Short and sweet with a dash of karma well served.

This is a novel that you should be able to finish within a day, and one of the things I am thankful for is that after the karma/revenge was completely fulfilled it didn’t have 40-50 chapters of the MC and ML dating. The pace of the MC and ML falling for each other was reasonable based on the novels length, timeline and actions in the novel.

One of the things that I truly appreciate is that the extras talked about what happened... more>> after MC died in the OG timeline. Most novels that I have read will instead do an alternate path where it’s a happy path and nothing hurts then go over what happened after the MC regresses/passes. <<less

This had its fun moments, but the story that I was so engrossed in reading became a chore to read so I dropped it.

The translation gets a 10/10.

The story gets a 6/10. After the "revenge" took place and all was said and done, I have things I like and dislike about this story. At the beginning I enjoyed the drama. And for the most part, the relationships. Up to the chapter I dropped this, MC was a very shy tomato (blushing) around the ML and that's it. Blushy, shy, blushy,... more>> shy. It felt like that was his whole personality for a sec. They were cute though, but that's it. Their romance and the new conflicts aren't enough to keep my emotional investment or my attention, I felt their relationship which was cute for so long, became less. Less interesting, less fun to read. I dislike how things ended in regards to the main conflict, and how the MC wasn't... careful, I suppose or maybe I wanted him to be a bit more clever. To pack more of a punch. <<less

The premise is good. I liked how the MC tried his best to just really live his own life- away from the people who had hurt him. I liked how the author kept repeating how the villains had s*upid reasons for wanting to antagonize MC and ML. Haha I loved how the adults in majority of the settings were there to support the MC and ML.

Spoiler

Some things I wished was better done would be:

    • I wished the MC wasn't so hostile towards the Fang family in his rebirth. Tho I guess it's because he wasn't old enough to mature over his pain.
    • The thing with Lin Bai reporting the Xiao Ran and Xiao Jiang's relationship to the head (?) was a bit absurd lmao. I skimmed thru majority of this part coz I found it hilarious how them being in a relationship was a problem, given both side's parents even approved of em.
    • With regards to Gu Yao, I had hoped as well that Xiao Ran wasn't so hostile to him. Maybe he could have just been someone who ended up liking our MC from afar.
    • Hmmm, Fang Yan. He was a character who could have experienced more pain. Tho I guess his death was already bad enough. But still. Lol
    • And OUR MAIN COUPLE. They were too shy HAHAHA Ugh they were cute but I guess there was something missing on it.

I'd suggest reading this if you want to read without needing to think too much~
