From infancy to maturity, what Ye Zhou dislikes the most was “two”.

The reasons were: he was ranked second at home, he had been forever ranked second at school, no matter how diligently he worked and tried, he couldn’t shake off that “second” curse. What was more exasperating was that, at University, not only was he ranked second, but even his appearance that he was proud of had to be classified as second best!

Why can’t I obtain the first place!

The eternal second will rise!

Then, Ye Zhou, after his vigorous efforts finally rises and the result was… the first became his boyfriend.

This is the story of a man who has been forced to be “second” and how he became the first, most popular.

Cute story, not that heavy, minimal angst. The MC was a bit oblivious but both the MC and ML had likeable personalities and have chemistry. The other classmates and side characters had lots of parts in the novel which I found very nice, they had important roles and were funny, the main cast interactions were really good, I liked the setups that the roommates pull off. The romance portions were very fluffy, cute and funny. Conflicts between the CP were mostly misunderstanding based that were resolved neatly.

I like the brother... more>> of MC, he was very cool and supportive during the end. The MC and ML were both smart, aside from the occasional oblivious moments and I liked that they were the top at the school, which made them popular and brought lots of funny scenarios within the student body. It's a bit of a slowburn depending on how you see it but I thought the pacing made sense and the getting together part was nicely done.

The ending was also good. Would highly recommend. Fluffy, cute, light read. The most dramatic it gets is with the family part but it's a good mix with the fluff/comedy. <<less

MC's friends are absolutely ridiculous, yet funny in their own way. This novel is one of those "comedy of errors" situations where misunderstandings explode to next levels. Don't take things too seriously and enjoy the relationship between Shang Jin and Ye Zhou, with their ShangYe in a tow! They have healthy dynamics and everything is consensual! There are a few unrealistic parts, but it is a good read to escape into.

I've finished reading it in 2 days it's one of the sweetest read I had. Both the leads are very likable, at first Ye Zhou is a bit annoying because he is too stubborn about what he has in his mind but you'll gradually come to like his character, cause it made him feel like a normal person you can empathize with.

As for ML, Shang Jin (first of all I already liked him because of Jin in his name) he is one of the perfect ML I have read, the... more>> good thing about his character is he's perfectly imperfect but still very perfect. Confused? You'll get it if u read this story. It made him very likeable as well as desirable where one wish he/she has a boyfriend like him.

Another entertaining and funny plot is the roommates and university students, I love them a lot. Honestly without them I think the main leads wouldn't have been able to be together so early.

Last but not the least this story is slow burn, those who are into supernatural novels, should read it when they want to take a break with all these genre and read it for a heartfelt sweetness. That is all (~ ̄▽ ̄) ~ <<less

It's Absolutely Epic beyond my expectation!!!

The MC and ML's personality is great! How they develop their relationship is supriringly smoother than I expected. Even when the misunderstood cleared between them, it immediately goes to the important point, so the drama is not slow or annoying. It was straight to the point and I LOVE IT!!!

Their Friends is hilariously great! Their College live is Absolutely Epic Gold Win!!!

... more>> It has family drama. Even coming out moment near the ending. But absolutely well written!

The the last extra chapter is Great way to end it the story too!

Anyway this Novel is Absolutely Wonderful and Fun and Amazing! I Love it Sooo much!!! So much better than I expected! Great characters, Great story, Great ending! <<less

I literally registered an account just so I could review this novel! It's genuinely one of the best BL I've ever read. The main characters are just so much better written than the majority of novels I've read so far. There's no totally unnecessary convoluted misunderstandings or annoying plot device angst scenes it just flows nicely and the characters are super likeable. I just have so much love for this novel <3

So in love with this!!! The pacing is nice, not slow but also not fast. Just right.

MC and ML are both mature and can calmly face anything. Their fights aren't shallow, it actually concerns their most vulnerable side, even then their making up is done well. It doesn't seem forced, it all went natural and is rather sweet.

Even on the face of uncertainty (aka) confession, they faced it straightforwardly and calmly, actually using their brain to think!!!!!!

A quick wholesome little read that doesn't leave much impression but sometimes you need that sort of light fluffy warmth in your life.

I liked how MC and ML grew closer throughout and they fall in love very naturally and at a good pace!! I like the college student aesthetic of it all especially as you really get a sense of that.

I guess the big thing for me is that they love each other and you can feel it so well!! I love stories that give you the emotions like this... more>> so don't pass up this cute light piece where the cp has such good chemistry and banter. <<less

Really like the story, the MC and ML has quite a good back story, and development. Really recommend it for fluff and short read.

However,

Spoiler

I really hope the author can elaborate more on MC parents after coming out to them. Kinda want to know will his parents accept him as a gay or not. And the relationship between Ye Heng and his parents too, especially siding with MC.

[collapse]

Other than that, I'm really satisfied with this! 10/10 will recommend

This is an incredibly sweet and fluffy story with absolutely NO DRAMA. The hilarious way they get together, literally every single friend being a bro right the sweet and fluffy end.

MC is not as oblivious people think he is. He has a very specific role in his mind for ML and very specific different person as his Love Interest. So it takes him a bit of time to get used to the fact his initial impressions may not be as perfect as he thought.

It helps that they actually use their... more>> words to COMMUNICATE their feelings to each other (and the friends take the initiative do so when they can't/won't) that it doesn't turn into a pointless melodrama.

And last but not the least, I am very happy that their daughter - Shang Ye - got her own happy ending. <<less

Sweet and cute. Very reminiscent in tone of You Boys Play Games Very Well, minus any gaming whatsoever... Mostly light hearted, but there is some angst from family issues. I found the resolution very satisfying.

The main characters are really well written and their personalities made me love them. Their flaws and the misunderstandings which are frankly hilarious makes this a wonderful read.

'Everyone Thinks That I Like Him' is one of the best BL novels I have read as of now. The dynamic between Ye Zhou and Shang Jin is so wonderful and adorable, they are truly one of the best couples in fiction works. The storyline is pretty good and held my interest throughout the novel. I love slow burn romance and a healthy relationship between partners, so this novel refreshed me! Honestly, there is no aspect in the story that I want to criticize, so I strongly recommend this novel~~

Enjoyed it. Even reread it.

Romance is developed in a slow pace.

Problems that come up with coming out of closet are shown for MC

... more>> MC family really treats MC bad except big bro. I really feel MC has strong mental capacity otherwise someone else would have blacken. Even MC big bro has some psychological shadow due to family.

They are *typical* asian family who dictates what their kids should do and how their kid should be first n all.

I really hoped author has given few extras for further life of theirs like MC family agreed or not, their career, big bro romance with MC college professor. <<less

Light, comedic and fluffy story. There are a few heart-wrenching moments in between (backstory) which I think made the story much more colourful- though not melodramatic. No rap* elements (forced kiss, sadistic inclinations etc.). I appreciate how the ML was so understanding and considerate towards the MC. Their chemistry is great and their interactions are very cute. The romance was realistic and gradual.

The main selling point in this story is how the side characters influenced the CP and their hilarious interactions they have with the CP and amongst... more>> themselves (and they're 3D not just cardboard cutouts which made the story much more realistic). The misunderstandings are funny rather than exasperating not like some other novels out there.

All in all this novel is my all-time favourites. I'm not much of a re-reader but I would probably reread it sometimes later. <<less

I usually lean in more to transmigration wuxia and whatnots. But suprisingly, this fic, I found, is quite enjoyable. A lovely gem indeed ^_^

Although it may not have the complex plots, still I praise author-nim for fleshing out the characters well and turning even the most mundane things hilarious lol. Also the interweaving of scenes and romance comes naturally, which I hardly find these days : (

Anyways, an amusing slice of life once in a while is satistfying hehe

This is my second time reading, after a year maybe. There is indeed a lot to like in this novel. It is lighthearted, no angst, funny, realistic. The premise is very similar to 'Love Stop Rumours' which I really liked. There are some great moments in this novel: the ShangYe car, the strawberry plants, the silly roommates, ShangJin’s beautiful confession (so simple yet so poetic), the couple’s wilful independence from their parents (not just financially independent but also emotionally, which I consider more important). I enjoyed their daily interactions and... more>> solid friendship at the beginning. I also loved ShangJin’s decisive nature and maturity and his swift actions throughout the novel. YeZhou’s mum as the archetypal education-obsessed chinese parent, is very well portrayed, totally realistic and relatable (for me).

YeZhou’s character I liked less for many reasons: his pitiful reaction to ShangJin’s confession, his indecision in regards to TangDongdong, his inability to confront his mum despite so much verbal ab*se, his mixed attitude towards ranking (hey man, are you proud of your 2nd place or not?), his inability to realise his feelings for ShangJin despite being described as someone smart and outgoing with good EQ, a social butterfly even.

There is another thing I disliked, only one reader mentioned it: I also felt that the romance lacked intensity and passion. The only moment I felt any passion was from ShangJin’s confession. Then came YeZhou’s pitiful reaction which was totally anticlimactic. Even their smut scene was monotonous. It’s like: Let’s do it, we did it, now let’s sleep! Where’s the fluff? Where is the heartfelt emotion? The excitement? The marriage proposal was also pretty restrained and casual. Maybe that’s the problem with too much realism? The romance felt ordinary, just like any normal couple irl. The problem is not the genre. I have read many lighthearted slice-of-life more passionate than this one. <<less
