A train trip taken to escape reality.

“Is this a dream…?”

The moment he came to his senses, it seemed he had somehow entered the fantasy novel he was reading just moments ago. What’s more, he possessed the body of an extra who wasn’t even mentioned by name in the original work!

‘Does this make any sense?!’

Before the man could properly gather his wits, the original story had already begun. The man, now “Nathan Nover,” strives to survive the original story’s events that will unfold in 3 years and tries to establish a connection with the original protagonist…

***

“What are you doing there?”

Fortunately, it wasn’t backlit. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have quickly noticed who the boy standing in front of him was.

Golden hair that seemed to have been melted from pure gold sparkled even in the dreary weather. The refreshing eyes were slightly furrowed in puzzlement, and the blue eyes resembling the summer sky stared directly at Nathan.

At that moment, a tremendous shock struck his mind. Nathan unwittingly exclaimed. Ah, his instincts whispered.

This person was Azar. Azar Erasmus.

The boy before his eyes truly looked exactly as Nathan had imagined while reading. That’s why he recognized him at a glance. He couldn’t even dare to imagine the protagonist looking any other way.

Spoiler

Before I say anything else, I want to not that this novel is NOT written in first person, but third person (for once).

The plot:

Spoiler

The original world was based off of magic, swordsmanship, and other supernatural elements. The OG Protagonist (and also the ML) is named Hazard Erasmus and he is basically like Zelda (from Legends of Zelda). He attends an academy, some kind of seal is undone, demons start to rampage, and he collects companions to save the world.

Then comes our MC who was just minding his own business on his highly anticipated train ride (because he's never been outside of Korea before), then *poof* he arrives in an unfamiliar world. Like any RATIONAL person, he started to panic and a sting of elements followed through.

[collapse]

Truthfully, I find the protagonists actions quite realistic. Unlike other MCs, the main character is actually panicked when he gets transferred into this unknown world and experiences many emotions that others may have when suddenly put into an unfamiliar environment. Additionally, he doesn't suddenly inherit a golden finger and actually has to work hard to gain results, even if it harms his own body.

His character is very well fleshed out and holds his own feelings and desires. The readers can feel that when he first transmigrated over, even though he broke down at times, the MC truly did hold some expectations for his future. He hadn't wanted to become some cool protagonist or side character, but just someone who would be remembered. It didn't matter if it was one person or a hundred people, he just didn't want to go down as that one person among the crowd whom no-one knew. The MC also has a slightly childish side because he sometimes doesn't understand why he's scolded and often wants to get praised. Yes, some of his actions are hypocritical, but then again, no one is perfect and for someone who was thrown into the body of a random unknown character who literally has no potential in magic or swordsmanship, he is already considered pretty good to me. Not to mention, the MC knows that the world will fall into ruin within 3 years, so he is working hard to do anything he can to protect himself.

The MC has a very realistic reaction when first waking up in this world. The story has a nice serious tone that doesn't overcomplicate things which is a refreshing change from the other fantasy novels with a more light-hearted/fluffy setting.

It's awesome~

The interactions between the two main characters are cute and show off their youthfullness and inocence.^^

Additionally the main character isn't op from the beginning and works really hard (sometimes he even overworks himself) which leaves other characters to watch over him.

Besides I like how realistic his character is written and how the author made it possible to personaly relate with the MC emotions.

OMG I'm relieved to see that this novel is getting translated again! I'm only in chapter 9 right now and gosh its good. You guys should read it, like others said the MC in this novel is realistic because he asked himself how and why did he got transported here and all sorts of emotional rollercoaster. And yes the ML I don't know much about him but he appeared at chapter 6.

NOTE: WE GET ACTUAL CHARACTER & ENVIRONMENT DESCRIPTIONS!!! Mostly hair/eye color and simple prop object stuff, but it's definitely an improvement to most webnovels

This story gets serious props for realism. It's a transmigration story, but the person in question really didn't want to transmigrate, and the situation he's in is pretty much awful (no family, new environment, etc). He also has kind of limited knowledge of the story he's transmigrated into.

So unlike every other transmigration protagonist that freaks out for about 12 minutes before accepting their fate and deciding on... more>> a goal, This protagonist basically freaks out for 3 straight years. He's kind of an anxious wreck, afraid to talk with people because he doesn't want his identity found out but equally lonely. The real problem is that his body is a total wreck, for reasons that aren't really explained as well as terrible habits.

The problem with this is that reading chapter after chapter about someone who is just violently ill and miserable is, well, not particularly interesting or enjoyable. I found myself skipping paragraphs and missing nothing but further descriptions of nosebleeds or dizzy spells. Also, if you've got any medical knowledge, several of his fainting episodes don't make any sense, magic or no, but whatever. That being said, the story does a really good show-don't-tell method of his illness. The MC in question basically ignores it because his new body was always like this, and we don't have the thoughts of the supporting cast cooing over how pitiful and broken he is, which again makes it feel real.

Sickness aside, the plot and story is quite good. It's definitely romance, but they don't start with crushes on each other and, again, the relationship feels much more natural and realistic than most stories.

The fantasy setting, magic system, fantasy races, etc. Are there, but not really investigated in detail. The world is interesting, and the magic is more old school high magic which is nice, but there isn't a ton of worldbuilding here, especially because MC won't leave the academy for the most part. <<less

Oh oh oh I'm liking this. The pace is slow at the beginning, focusing more on MC's ailments of sorts and daily something something. Ml's interest on MC also quite abrupt in my opinion (tho I'm still in ch106, so I don't know if it has something deeper than the common insta romance plot of the sort)

But I'm liking it, but if you don't like an MC that is weak by the beginning, then you won't like this novel. MC lit cough blood every three steps (figuratively)

and ML fall/realize his feeling first and he is so damn cute yo

Really love mc's initial reaction upon finding out he's in some stranger's body, he gets flustered and start panicking, but still make it work out. MC is not the usual op character, his body is a wreck, and the initial magic is less then average, but still works really hard to achieve his desired results, and in that aspect, the title is spot on. It seems that translation was dropped for some reason, and I really hope someone picks this up.

OMG. Yallz. This novel is so good! It has little bits of everything I personally love: an imperfect, hardworking MC, a green flag love interest, found family, and fantasy.

tl;dr Honestly, it took me a few chapters to get into this novel because it starts off like a typical academy isekai with an unexpected and nonchalant time jump, but I promise you that if you're looking for a novel that is very human and emotional, this is the one for you.

The plot: The overarching plot does not play out 3D chess... more>> political intrigue, but it has interesting lore and worldbuilding that straightforwardly illustrates the different perceptions of oral history and written history through time and point of view. The author/translator has divided this into 7 different arcs, but currently, our characters are at the academy and my brain thinks we haven't even gotten into the meat of the main adventure yet. It feels very much like we're still at the initial climb of the rollercoaster before all hell breaks loose and we get onto the main part of the ride. But even so, I've really enjoyed the story so far.

The MC: What happens when you're thrown into a world with no help, no resources, and very little inference? Nathan opens his eyes in a train with no bearings whatsoever. He doesn't have any OP skills. In fact, he's plagued with many handicaps with the universe seeming to bellow at him to remain quiet and small and less of an extra than all the other extras. Even though he's barely hanging on, he still persists to the best of his meager abilities and despite his weak constitution. In the real world, he was alone. In this world, he is alone. And with this theme of having no one to mind him, he also minds himself very little, as in, he doesn't take care of himself or ever puts himself into consideration with a kind of unconscious selflessness.

The love interest: I don't want to spoil anything for you. I was honestly surprised. DELIGHTFULLY SO. The emotional edging is *chef's kiss* and has me internally screaming and squealing while externally heavily breathing. But if you must must must must must know the spoiler, it's this:
Spoiler

It's yaoi. Or rather, pans*xual because the ML had no interest in women or men, but fell for MC just because MC was MC. For some reason, it wasn't tagged in NovelUpdates, but I'm not even mad because the slow realization along with the slow burn was soooooooooooooooooooooooo satisfying. I can't even.

MC is a lovely piece of work, he's the epitome of a weak protagonist with a self-suffering self-sacrificing attitude. Chef's kiss to the author for another one to the collection.

I appreciate that we're at a part where he knowingly positions himself around the center of the plot, wrought with events and battle because he finds life more meaningful with his connection to the Hero. MC does have a weak constitution, and works his body to the expense of other people's worry and his own growing sense of helplessness. The contrast... more>> between his own agency and weaknesses is why I enjoy these types of stories dearly.

And by far the world building is phenomenal - currently they've answered things like why does the MC have a weak constitution, what's going on with the original Nathan, etc. It's a comprehensive story that's written more like an actual novel than a webnovel with it's use of imagery and actual descriptions of the color and vibe. <<less

Well, in my opinion, the novel is more realistic in a 'realistic' situation but unfortunately, the first few chapters are very bland and not stimulating. Some novels start with stimulating scenarios that hook up the readers interest which is exactly the opposite of this. It may be early to judge the novel based on only few chapters but first impressions are really important to me in order to judge how the author would approach the story as time goes by.

For now, I'll keep waiting for a few more chapters

If you want a Shonen story. I don't think this one is for you.

But if you want a mystery and healing story, I suggest you don't want to skip this.

It's started with MC who was transmitted to a very sickly child in a fantasy novel. He tried hard to live his life and stayed away from the book protagonist which he failed LOL.

I quite like him, I think this kind of MC quite realistic, he might a little bit depressed but you know.. you might be like that too if... more>> you can't guarantee that the original soul will come back in one day or not.

I think he's a good person, he didn't want to steal the boy body,

Spoiler

which is the reason why he was always sick.

[collapse]

And of course this is BL novel so obviously there's an ML who wracked in to MC's life like a meteor.

ML is a sun shine boy who loved adventures, he's smart, curious and quiet OP. But what I like about him is he's a very good friend. And because of that, he won the MC's heart.

In my opinion, both of them were good for eachother. ML would help MC and MC would try (really hard) to bring happiness to ML's life.

It's really long story if you want romance... I don't know, in 84th chapter I only saw good friends. I only hope that I will see doki doki scenes in very next chapters 😂 <<less

This novel is super duper slow, most of the time not much happens or it happens but it takes a VERY VERY VERY long time. I don't particularly like the MC nor the ML, they're pretty bland.

The beginning was very promising but sadly it soon became kinda boring to read and even by skipping out the dragging parts, I could not help but feel like this novel is aimless.
