Something you can read when you are bored with nothing to do, not requiring big brain energy. The MC is really cowardly with weak personality, lying is basically his second nature. The romance is quite meh as MC tended to make the situation seems like he was forced, everytime, never explaining anything to ML and always accusing ML without trying to understand him. Not a good read. There are really cute moments in here like the ML's bday, but there isn't a whole lot of development in how they interact from start to finish. It starts to get boring seeing how the MC does things out of fear, he always sounds/feels coerced, and the ML threatens the MC to get what he wants, and what he wants is the bare minimum in relationships that he can't even get unless he steals (kisses), bargains, or threatens the MC. The story was good idk kinda left me feeling unsatisfied but can't blame it one the story.

Tbh it reminded me a lot of Don't You Like Me. And DYLM was way better than this so it kinda made me find faults in this (?).

The plot was really simple so the story felt really draggy at some parts. Especially when they were fake dating, all they did was get angry and the MC ignores the ML. The ML apologizes and then they make up. The only thing the ML bullied the... more>> MC about was probably about the kiss problem.

The MC annoys me a lot bcz of his personality. So, if you're not into crying all the time MCs don't read this. Another thing that makes me annoyed about him is how the MC treats the ML.

Like he plays with the ML's feelings all the time, just gets together with the ML bcz of what he did as mentioned in the summary. But the ML was actually thinking they were together bcz the MC liked him. And it wasn't a misunderstanding either, the MC knew that the ML genuinely likes him and thinks that he likes him back but still doesn't tell him bcz he's afraid that the ML will be angry. Like WTF!!!! He doesn't even think he's wrong to do that.

And the plot holes, like it's never explained why he's so cowardly. The ML NEVER beat him up but for some reason he thinks that the ML will beat him.

Basically he's really annoying, there's like not a single good thing about him. Like in other novels I've read like this where they fake date, Atleast after they start dating for real the MC starts treating the ML better too. But nope not with this MC. He acts like a princess and throws tantrums, blocks and ignores the ML without even communicating about what's wrong.

And when they confront each other, they don't even try to talk about it, the MC just kisses the ML and the ML forgives him. Like WTF

!!

And about this kisses problem, the MC even after they start dating fr just keeps dodging being intimate like holding hands and hugging mostly kissing not even in private. And says stuff like "Only I can kiss you, you can't kiss me". From what I know relationships don't work like that.

Then the ML gets h*rny and kisses the MC and the MC runs away and ignores him. The ML coaxes him and they start talking again. And this happens like Atleast EVERY THREE CHAPTERS!!! I've read novels where MCs are shy about s*x and stuff like that but this is the first time I've seen someone so shy about being kissed.

I really want to shove the word "communication" in ZYB's mind. Everytime they fight, he just cries and ignores SBF. This might work in a novel but in real life, your partner will probably get tired of always running after you...

And even in the extra when they're older, the MC promised to marry the ML but stood him up for three years.

Also I hate SBF's parents and what they did but THE AUTHOR DOESN'T TELL US WHAT HAPPENED

. That was what I was most excited about. I was wishing someone would make his mother understand that her actions have consequences but no...

Anyways although I didn't like the novel, the translation was great. The only reason I read this in the first place is bcz of it being on Chrysanthemum Garden

. I love their website.

And just so anyone wanted to read a better version of this novel, I recommend:

Don't You Like Me (It's fantasy so it's kinda different but there's fake dating in it too. And it's on CG as well. Oh and it's R18+ so keep that in mind.) <<less

I didn't going in with the bratty and haughty expectations that everything must comply with my ~~enlightened western bubble worldview projections like the rest of the reviews in this comment section, so I really loved this novel.

I'd rather read poor communication that slowly gets resolved between family and crushes than repeated plots any day.

This was really sweet. The slow unfolding of ML's longstanding crush was moving, the way he struggled between being conned and finally having the chance to love a dream was really sweet.

As the characters are high schoolers,... more>> I wasn't expecting them to act like mature adults, so I'm not put down by the discovery that they're dumbasses and jerks to each other and have poor emotional regulation. Don't read a coming of age then, lol.

And this is a coming of age story. The MC and ML not only develop a more sincere appreciation of each other, they also gradually start to see the little ways in which their parents try to express care about them, and because less insecure people.

It was really gratifying to see the way the mothers talk about each other too. No spoilers, but I think it indicates a maturity on the part of the author to respect the choices both of them made. Definitely appreciated the frank discussion on expectations of childrearing, and how family support vs pressure can affect a young patent.

There were no villains in this novel, no bad guys, no dog blood plot or face slapping (despite the suggestion implied early on). It's just a character piece, about the insecurity and worry every character has about each other. There's no designated bad guys either. Just people who struggle with how to express their emotions but manage to achieve harmony through their embarrassedly gritted teeth.

The rest of you must not have gone to a high school full of problems children with anger issues. We're still people too. And it really does get so much easier once you grow up and stop feeling like every teenage emotion is the end of the. World. MC and ML end the story able to see the greater world and people around them beyond their insecurities. It was really nice to read and I expect I'll be back to do so again in the future.

Even though I hate passive shou, I don't hate this little guy at all. I think he doesn't realize how much energy and emotion he has inside until quite a while in. He may be a good test taker but his mind shuts down in social situations, and honestly that's relatable. It does make him a target of bullying and that in turn makes him more defensive and timid. <<less

Quite cute although very cliche and very wholesome in the ending chapters but I really hated the threats and the forced nature of the initial relationship. Zhen father was such an awful parent throughout the entire thing though. I hated how he was so resentful to zhen yuanbai just because he wasn't tough, he just didn't like poor MC cause he didn't fit his standards for a boy in society!! F*cking irritating!! 👁👄👁

I never thought that there will be a story where every character is dislikeable. The start is very annoying. Coercion in a literary form. Coercion, lies, miscommunication. I hope that the ML talked about his crush not in a flashback but tell it to MC so there will be fluff.

This is such a good and very cute story. Rating is ridiculous, it should be more around 4.5.

*MC is kind of a little weak sauce. Lol. *ML is a shameless big bully, but he's not a bad person.

MC hates ML because ML likes to bully him. One day MC gets mad and pushes ML off from his skateboard. ML injured his head and losses... more>> his memory. MC is scared that ML will beat him up once he regains his memory and also scared that ML will find out that he was the one who pushed him off. With that, MC then lies to ML that they are best buddies. (It's so funny after MC fake being friends with ML lol). The story then continues with MC's fake lies... lol. There's a little bit of a twist to the the story too.

Some people may hate it because MC is a little bit of a weak sauce and that he doesn't really stand up for himself much. He's not really weak, he just doesn't like getting into troubles. He cares about others. I like how ML pushes our sweet scardy cat MC to learn how to stand up for himself more.

A lot of fluffs and cute moments. Love how MC's lies create so much pit-holes for him lol!!

I'm honestly surprised. When I started reading this novel I was quite certain I would hate it but I still wanted to give it a try. I thought I wouldn't like it 'cause I was sure Shi Bufan would be the usual seme that you can encounter in this kind of novel, never respecting the other boundaries and so on... but this novel surprised me. Shi Bufan character surprised me. Yeah, he's a bully, but he never tread Zhen Yuanbai bad.

(SPOILER ZY fear SB but it's all a misunderstanding. SB liked ZY for a long time and tried to get closer but ZY was convinced that SB hated him and want to beat him).

Honestly, I don't like the characters but I think I kinda like the flow of the story (a little bit). It didn't hooked me up and I completed it only because I'm too bored.

It's your typical 90s GB romance where the boy teases the girl and the girl nags the boy but made in BL.

The ML can't express their feelings So they tease the MC. But are very obedient when MC says tells them to do something. The MC is introverted and self conscious but nags the people he cares about.

Both characters become better version s of themselves thanks to each other but it's not a deep or meaningful story where you mature. They're high schools students so it's all very shallow but... more>> a good story to pass the time.

I do like the ML and MC interactions but only because I tend to like couples that bicker. It feels like how some people say you can only argue with people your close to. So I think it makes sense that they bicker since their love languages would kind of lead them to having banter and bickering when the disagree. <<less

I quite liked it, but I can see how it could be a hit or a miss for some. There were some aspects of the MC's personality that could be a little irksome and personally I thought that someone who has such a high moral compass lying to the ML didn't make much sense but I ignored that little plot hole for the sake of the enjoying the plot. So long as you're okay with ignoring the little flaws it can be quite an enjoyable read.

This novel, I think will either be a hit or miss for people.

For me personally, I think it was too much of a slow burn for me. That aside, I also felt like there was an emotional stand-still for a long long time.

Like there was no concrete progression and I personally am someone who enjoys and wants that.

I’m sure a lot of people will enjoy this, therefore it is harmless to give this a go. Who knows you might like it.

Started out great but became dissatisfying. I commend the author for having a bully and low achiever as the male lead. Some funny parts too. Then things got annoying. No smut and little fluff. I suggest The Daily Life of Being the Campus Idol's Fake Boyfriend.

The translations is perfect but don't read the story as it is one of the most unsatisfying plot out there. Also, the comedy is inexistent in this novel.

I liked the start and I cried multiple times when reading it. But that's just it, no gratifying plot points and just pure toxicity of a relationship. I mean it might portray the reality of teenage relationships and the angst is good but better read other titles honestly.

The best thing about this story is that the students are serious about studies, the environment in the class is actually pretty normal.. And students don't bang anyone, anytime, anywhere which makes it feel like a realistic student life.. So I'll give it 3.5 stars..

I didn't like father Zhen when he wanted to hit MC because of his personality.. But within first ten chapters I understood his feelings well.. Even I felt like hitting him for being so cowardly.. But then again, MC most probably is slow in these types... more>> of emotional aspect.. Might be a psychological problem ???

MC cares about studies like normal students.. I like this trait of his.. And younger brother Zhen is quite cool..

ML didn't care about MC's studies previously and always hindered him, which made him unlikable.. Good thing that he changed later..

The story actually progressed after ML recovered his memory.. It was boring before.. Last fifteen chapters are pretty good.. But the ending is rushed.. <<less

This was a very sweet and fluffy novel. However, I felt like the MC didnt love ML as much as the ML loved the MC. Everytime the ML would kiss or hug the MC, the MC would get mad and the ML would have to coax him. Even after they started dating for real this still continued. It was only at the last few chapters that the MC didnt get mad.

I ended up bingeing this novel in a day and was satisfied with the ending. Nothing major happens apart from... more>> the MLs amnesia.

This book is soooo cute, I had so much fun reading it, I honestly didn't like the MC, he was a spineless coward who would had no guilty feeling whatsoever (at the beginning/middle) after he lied and manipulated the Mal's feelings

But it was a good read, no dramatic ups and downs, enough fluff while still keeping it mostly real

Although the progress was kinda slow

I can understand where some people who don’t like this novel are coming from because the characters are not perfect. But I loved it like this was written for me. It hit the spot I have for one part of the couple pining for a long time that has slight non-offensive stalkerish tendencies. These characters have messy personalities but they fit really well with each other. I didn’t feel bad for either of them because it’s their own faults for stuff that happens and they’re pretty privileged to live the... more>> life they do. This is a fun novel all in all. <<less

I like this so much. I couldn't stop laughing at all the misunderstandings that were going on between the MC and ML. I can't wait to see what happens when the ML gets his memory back and realizes that his whole relationship with his boyfriend was built on a lie and it was all fake!

Please don’t take this an an objective take that should help decide whether you read this or not, I just found that the MC is really the type of character I dislike most, and I really could never get past that throughout this novel. The ML was okay, but a bit bland and not interesting enough to balance it for me. That being said, you could have a totally different experience with this one if you give it a try, who knows. It’s just not for me.
