Wen Ze, an agricultural student who was worried about employment, traveled through time after a sudden death.

Good news: He gets to be his own boss, with land to farm at will.

Bad news: He transmigrated into an ancient beast world.

The powerful beastmen make a living by hunting and gathering. It’s common to have one meal a day, and there’s no trace of agricultural civilization.

Wen Ze looked at the collapsed cave, the moldy roots, and the tattered animal hide skirt, and sighed…

I can’t live like this.

Suddenly, a plump giant panda shook its fluffy ears, stepped on its soft paw pads, and rolled around pitifully. “Brother, I’m so hungry.”

Wen Ze was stunned.

Huh? Me? Raising a panda?

After searching all over his body and not being able to make a meal, Wen Ze silently recited the eight major cuisines in his mind and gritted his teeth: I have to do it even if it doesn’t work!

Weaving, food, farming, metalwork, infrastructure…

No matter how hard or tiring it is, he immediately got to work as soon as he opened his eyes.

At first, he just wanted to feed himself and his brother,

In the end, not only did his life get better, but he also helped raise his whole tribe, becoming the true “Beast God’s Messenger” in the hearts of the beastmen.

***

One day, everyone discussed why Wen Ze chose Zhuo Mu as his partner.

Some said he was calm, skilled in medicine, and gave a sense of security.

Other said that he became a warrior at a young age, which is impressive.

And the rest said that he looked cold, tall, and capable.

Wen Ze passed by and added: “His beast form is a pure giant white python, which is cool in summer.”

For a period of time, Zhuo Mu looked at the fish beastmen, snake beastmen, lizard beastmen, who came to visit his home, and he had a strong sense of crisis.

So, Wen Ze deeply realized that his partner was even more secure, stronger, and more capable than he had thought…

Reading tips:

Ancient beast world setting, farming and infrastructure lifestyle, no weird or extreme characters, no scheming, everyone works together to develop the tribe.

Wen Ze is the receiver, Zhuo Mu is the giver, and there is very little romance.

This novel is really healing. As mentioned in the desciption, there isn't much drama and the beastmen are all very friendly and gentle. Even if there are slight conflicts, it's not a big occurence and since everyone is so respectful there isn't any bad blood. There isn't a notable antagonist but there are a lot of kind and eager people around.

MC is quite shy (he has social anxiety), so seeing him slowly open up to his new neighbours was really wholesome. Author obviously know what they are writing because I... more>> had to dig through google looking for information I had no idea on. MC might be an agricultural student but it doesn't mean he knows every single craft there is. There are many realistic instances of how he needs help from his friends and neighbouring tribes to solve a problem and I appreciate the team bonding moments very much.

There are slightly repetitive elements as of all clan building novels, but the author introduces these elements in a more subdued way so it's not boring. I really like how the MC sticks to doing what he knows best instead of fearlessly venturing into different crafts.

Everyone is so helpful, the young beastmen are really cute, ML is also very caring and knowledgeable. There isn't as much romance since this was mainly about him intergrating into their culture and bringing the clan to prosperity, but that's fine because even as friends the ML and MC were already very wholesome. All in all if you want to read a beastmen troupe with more slice of life and less bloody elements, this is a good clan building novel to pass your time. <<less

I really love this story! It’s a cozy, feel-good novel where an agricultural student rebuilds life from scratch in a primitive beastman world. Wen Ze’s journe from surviving to thriving is somehow satisfying to follow. Also there's no drama, no toxic characters, just hard work, gentle progress, and community spirit. The relationship between Wen Ze and Zhuo Mu is also really sweet and subtle, not overwhelming, just the perfect touch of emotional depth.

If you're looking for a warm, slice-of-life beastman novel with strong worldbuilding, lovable characters, and a peaceful vibe—... more>> I highly recommend it. <<less

Despite being partial to beastmen stories, I couldn't get past the lackluster world building. Time and time again I found myself being distracted from the story by things that didn't make sense. In the first chapter, Wen Ze calls out to his brother Yin He, and notices he's not speaking a "modern language, but the language of the beastmen". So, then why are all the names obviously Chinese?

There are no 'women', but there are still two genders which unsurprisingly bear a resemblance to our gender binary. The author seriously wrote... more>> "compared to beastmen, half-beastmen are not as physically strong, but they are patient and meticulous, and are more suitable for tasks such as gathering and cooking." Isn't this just another way of saying "women belong in the kitchen"?

Ridiculous sizes aren't an uncommon feature in primitive beastmen settings, but it's so exaggerated here that it breaks the reader's immersion. Zhou Mu is a python with a head the size of a house and a body that is over fifty meters long (nearly two times the length of a blue whale) and Wu Ye is a grizzly bear that stands 6-8 meters tall (as tall as a two-story building). These colossal sizes add nothing to the story, except perhaps to reinforce how unbridgeable the gap between beastmen and sub-female is.

In chapter two we learn that everyone is born with a magical storage subspace. Brother, why? The only times this has been mentioned so far is in relation to clothes, so it seems to exist just so beastmen can put on clothes after shifting. Isn't breaking the laws of space-time just so that nobody gets flashed strangely prudish?

Even as a sub-beastman Wen Ze has to "eat more than 10 kilograms of food a day." This is so dumb on so many levels. Sub-beastmen don't have any exceptional physical abilities compared to normal humans but their dietary intake is ten times greater? Forget prosperity, with a metabolism like this I'm surprised beastmen haven't gone extinct. Considering Wen Ze lives with two beastmen who eat more than this, that means he's easily handling more than 30 kilograms of food everyday. I'm surprised Wen Ze finds time to do anything but cook.

There are simply too many inconsistencies and odd choices made by the author for me to enjoy this one. <<less
