Feeding the Sickly Supporting Male Lead

Description

One morning, Lu Yunchu found herself transmigrated into a novel and became a vicious supporting female character infatuated with the male protagonist.

She intended to drug and forcefully have her way with the male protagonist, but due to a series of misunderstandings, she ended up scheming against the male protagonist’s frail younger brother.

In the end, she had no choice but to marry him. This secondary male character in the book was merely a plot device, created solely to prevent the development of the relationship between the male and female protagonists. The book only briefly describes him: unable to speak, difficulty swallowing food, covered in injuries.

After the female supporting character marries the male supporting character, she directed all her resentment towards him, wishing to kill him.

With these thoughts in mind, Lu Yunchu kicked open the tightly closed door.

Wen Zhan had just finished vomiting and, out of fear of making Lu Yunchu disgusted, deliberately latched the door.

When he saw her kick the door open and enter, his face turned pale and he crawled into the darkness in a sorry state.

Lu Yunchu slowly approached him, and when he was trembling to the point of convulsions, she spoke gently, “Are you done vomiting? I made some vegetable porridge. Would you like a bowl?”

[Content Warning] A redemption story where the male protagonist suffers greatly. The female protagonist is not OP either.

So far, its interesting.

The ML is so pitiful and I’m glad the FL has a lot of patience though her interaction with the og ML is so laughable lol.

There are some situation when they will be forced by the plot, good thing the FL is quite clever. 🤣 Anyways I’m looking forward to the next chapter.

ps, the ML is really miserable.

I looooooveee it !

The author is sooo my type I really like her writing style also the way they describe food ? ! Bro u should be a food magazine blogger you will earn soooo much

Anyways back to novel first the FL I like her she is not annoying understand everything and everyone and have a strong will power and care about our precious ML and is pateint with him. Lol I love her interaction with wan jue ? She is soo goofy.

Next is ML although he can't speak I... more>> think he'll speak in later chapters (let's hope for the best) . He's just soo precious like literally moonlight. Such a green flag. If u don't like him you seriously have an issue go see a doctor.

Now the plot.. It's so refreshing npcs are treated as NPCs the plot won't change that won't act freely quite rare to see this in isekai novels.

Anyways a 5 Outta 5. <<less

I really like stories where the premise of a novel transmigration is into an actual novel that compels the characters to follow the plot.

Spoiler

The rules of this story remind me of the Korean "I Thought It Was a Common Transmigration, " where the more central the character there, the less free will, but here, it's the complete opposite -- the extras have less free will.

[collapse]

Of the almost hundred Chinese webnovels I've read so far, this might only be the third or so where the OGFL isn't the/an antagonist, and man do I love that. Pitting FL and OGFL against each other always feels like an easy out. They aren't bosom buddies by the end, but they are definitely penpals~

Spoiler

I also love that, even though OGML is still antagonistic throughout, his threat level diminishes fast, and he's just FL's annoying brother-in-law.

[collapse]

It's a good read, sweet yet heart-rending, with just a few translation errors. I probably won't read this again, but it's a solid 4.7 stars for me. Rounding it up to a 5 to raise the NU score <<less

It is a happy ending story, simple to be finished in one or two days. Unexpectedly a lot of food was involved. It's better not to be famished when reading it.

The angst was not between the lead but with how they deal with The Plot. The Plot keep messing with the male lead and he suffers greatly. The character was good, Lu Yunchu is not an OP character, she doesn't even remember the plot and keep died in her previous attempt to avoid her fate. Wen Zhan, male lead with... more>> a mysterious past who unfortunately always died miserably but never hates the 'new' Lu Yunchu and instead regards her as the only light in his life.

The comedic moment happened between Lu Yunchu and Wen Jun, the OG male lead. Their bickering always makes me LOL. The extra story between the OG FL and her bodyguard is a nice touch to the story. <<less

i wanted to write a review on this novel because it went a long way with me lol (like 3 weeks to almost a month) obviously because of it slow pacing and what I see as over describing of food maybe it is because I don't eat these food especially pork I couldn't relate so After like chapter 40 I just gave up and skipped the food descriptions and I really could finish it faster lol

The novel was fun to read it has moments that brought a smile to me... more>> and the characters were fun as well

the novel in itself was good in writing the events and the translation of it was good for me as well.

and
Spoiler

the male lead : I was mostly interested in his character development and in my opinion he did have one but according to what seems like the author's preference he was somehow submissive it wasn't too over the top but it was abit annoying at times

also shout out for the author for fulfilling my wish in seeing what will the person feel when their lover go back to their original world I always felt it wasn't stressed upon that much and never left any type of issues on their life later on but here we see wen zhan actually having anxiety but I admit the author went abit overboard with it but I can accept that it is needed for a character like wen zhan and his experience so I won't object

[collapse]

Spoiler

what I also liked is that lu yunchu really got to travel liked she wanted to and it wasn't just mere wishing and talking or a conversation that the author just forgot about but I wished they showed us their children as well it would have been cute to see them as parents but I can understand that it'll take alot of courage to get pregnant at times were medicine wasn't as advanced so again no complaints

[collapse]

Spoiler

I would also like to talk about yiu zhixu and wen yue fallout I didn't expect even though I read the last chapter when I was bored in ch 44 maybe but I was still confused as to why it didn't work between them even when they got free from the shackles of the plot and wen yue seemed more humane and even kinda likeable? But I later in the same chapter knew and I felt it was reasonable and ngl I likethe shadow with her more now

[collapse]

Spoiler

lastly I would talk about the original plot Even tho the author didn't go deep into that world dynamic and the reason for it I liked the world building and the rules the characters had to follow and how they tried to get rid of the shackles it wasn't really the main main point but it was great as it is Because I never expected to know who is behind the world etc in the first place so I wasn't disappointed, I liked the detail in the last chapter about the book and the sentence left in it it was in a way touching

[collapse]

Overall it wasn't at all a bad experience but it needs patience to go through some chapters as they felt monotonous or repetitive but the novel is still worth giving it a try imo and I am glad I didn't give it up in the early chapters. <<less

Such a sweet story. Both the FL and the ML are so lovable and cute it's hard not to always root for them and care about them all the time. Especially the ML. Definitely did not expect to fall in love with the ML as much as I do right now. I feel like both the ML and FL truly deserve each other after everything they've gone through (and they both have been through a LOT).

The story also has an interesting premise with the FL not being able to defy... more>> the fate of the character she transmigrated in. It brings in some funny moments as the FL gotten used to "the push" overtime and how people around her just thinks she's crazy 😂. Although at one point I did kinda get an existential crisis along with her.

This will definitely be one of those cnovels I will never forget. <<less

This is a slow, building story that truly talks about making and eating food a lot. The plot development takes a backseat. I am not a particular fan where characters are forced into a set storyline they must play out. However, it's nice the author also gets how unfair it is and wrote about trying to break down the story.

Spoiler

The MC effort to face the plot and save a minor cannon fodder gradually helps her change the trajectory of their fates. The author is very detailed when talking about foods, POVs of various characters, PTSD, how friendship and love grows, but doesn't elaborate much about why this world is a trap or why the MC became a part of it.

[collapse]

I honestly struggled to read the story to understand what it was about. I felt I was just torturing myself and feeling hungry reading about food in almost every chapter. The romance was vague on intimacy smut related details which I felt the author could have done better to convey a deeper sense of passion. Because it was lacking, the romance came off as codependency instead. I like fluffy stories but this was not one of them. Nor was it a hot, passionate love story. By the end, I was just glad I was able to finish it. <<less

I have mixed feelings about this because even though it's supposed to have comedic undertones, there's still a sense of melancholy throughout the story, yet hope still builds up leading to the ending at the end. It's a happy ending, but the beginning is like cooking food and taking care of each other to cope with a stagnated hell while most of everyone is silent in the background.

I love the OG FL, she's really smart and the OG ML is a contradictory character.

Two people fighting against the shackles of fate... more>> and I thoroughly love FL and ML's love for each other. <<less

This is good but too slice of life / cooking focused for my preference (there are A LOT of food descriptions lol), but the characters and especially their interactions together are all pretty great, (the new years dumpling hang out was perfect)

Mute ML (his situation is for real dark and sad), funny and upbeat MC (despite grim setting) ; there's something going on with the world not being real (novel world) and everyone is trapped in predetermined plot

Spoiler

My main complaint for the story is that it's hard to get invested because the world feels flat but that's an on purpose major plot point that is done well so I just have really mixed feelings on wether or not it's actually a bad thing idk

A really cute story, the ML is pitiful but thankfully the author imo did a good job describing it so that clearly he's in a miserable situation but it did'nt get angsty plus with the MC there is felt more healing than anything.

Mtl really takes out the fun of it I wont lie, idk if I was just skimming too much or just mtl was hard to read but I found myself a little confused on what happened to og ML and ogfl. Its a short story but felt... more>> so warm, the ML is such a cutie.

It's got it's flaws but I was too absorbed with the MC n ml's romance to care or try and make out further plot after a point lmao. For best experience just wait for translation.

Sooo I read about 26 chapters until I realized I couldn't continue it and read the final 8 chapters. After reading the ending + extras, I would say that I don't regret not reading the rest of the book. Don't get me wrong, the main characters are interesting and the mystery behind the world is also intriguing. The problem lies entirely on the fact that it's a slow slice of life type of novel. As a reader, I can either read a slow novel or a slice of life novel-... more>> not both. Also the vibe of the novel is very similar to Let the Villain Go/Apocalypse Arrival and Marrying the Soft-hearted Villain, so I don't feel like I missed out too much on this novel. I don't think I'll revisit this novel to read if fully, but I did enjoy what I did get to read <<less

Talks extensively about food, very slice of life-ey. The leads bound in by directions of fate are truly pitiable but it's nice seeing them try and make the most out of their circumstances.

This is such a good read! Short but have appropriate pace and flow.

Just like the summary mentioned, ML truly pitiful, and FL struggle make me cry too. The indeed got happy ending but the process make me cry and laugh too. Since the title says "feeding", it indeed focusing on food a lot. I love it though because I love food. I able to learn a lot of cuisine and recipe from this.

The villains easily defeated but it make sense because

Spoiler

Everyone at one point already realised the "fate" or conscious of the world. The world already on the verge of breaking, making it easier to break it at the end. There's "antagonist" character too. Even if he's not acting too villainy like in the novel FL read, he's still evil. He got killed easily but that also make sense as everyone already kinda expected everything. He let his guard down and got killed unexpectedly.

[collapse]

So it's not much conflict. No second male lead, no second female lead. Everyone got happy ending.

I also love the side characters. They feel alive. Overall it's wonderful and recommend. <<less

4.2 damn.. although it less than 100 chp but it really full of plot twist :), at first I thought the story gonna be face slapping, and getting many sweet from cp but... it full of strugle for life, and fortunately the sweet is still there.. the sad thing is on the background and the villain is not a character but the original fate, it's like fighting a nom existing figure, kinda creepy but yeah.. unfortunately author can't pack all in less than 100 chp, there's a bit a hole... more>> in the story.. and u can ignore it <<less

Cute, warm, interesting read. The premise has a lot of potential (plot wise) that wasn't focused on, but this highlighted some of the character interactions more and simplified the novel in a way that very heartwarming. Prepare some snacks and just chill. Nothing super dramatic happens, but it's a short way to pass time.

On the surface, it could come across as your typical reincarnation story where the OG Plot pushes characters along against their will. Reasons why it's not:

- The two main characters come across as very "real" in their struggles and reactions. It's actually very sad how they deal with the hands that the Plot has dealt them

- The food factor - This may be a hit or miss for some (I love it). Each chapter (so far) is dedicated to a food, and it doesn't always move the story along but... more>> it always sounds delicious.

Overall enjoying my read so far, and shout-out to the translation team who've done a pretty good job with this. <<less

This is such a sweet series with a very interesting setting. The FL is transmigrated into a novel but she is controlled by the plot and cannot act freely like in other novels. Pretty chilling premise to be honest.

The world is fake (the moon doesn't change shape, only important characters in the book get fleshed out backstories, etc but ML and FL are self-aware

[collapse]

About the characters, FL is super strong and capable (I want to eat her food!!) and ML is so so sweet and pitiful. There isn't much drama between them, the romance progresses quite fast and their interaction is cute and funny. I love them.

Translation from Dragon Tea is amazing, really well done. Can't wait to read more. Thank you!! <<less

Such a silly cute story. With very funny moments too. The ML is so silly. The epitome of white lotus heroine. Weak, no self-confidence, self-blaming. Still loved both leads.
