It was hard to give this novel a star rating because some of the arcs were very enjoyable and others were either too sad for me or just straight up weird. I liked that the author tells you which arcs will end tragically before you start so you can avoid them but some of the world settings were too much for me. For example, ... more>>

there is an arc where the two are blood related siblings, an arc where the MC is one of the personalities inside the ML who has DID, and one where the MC is a literal tree the entire time.

Even putting all that aside, there were some where there was a huge age gap and either the the MC or the ML would raise the other from childhood. They never did anything R18 while the other was a minor but I didn't like the undertones of it all because it still felt like g*ooming. Especially when it was the MC who was older because he had all his memories so he had full control of the situation. I know he's not after the ML because he's young but it just felt icky for me. Also, I felt that the MC was less interesting the longer the story went on. In the first arc I was really amazed by his acting abilities. Sometimes authors describe a character as charismatic but I don't really buy it because their lines and demeanour feel either really forced or cheesy; however, the MC felt very charming to me. The way he knew how to approach people to disarm them and gain favourability was fun to see. I also liked that he tried to maintain the original body's personality. Yet, as the story went on I felt like he got so lazy. He barely maintained the character settings and the system practically disappeared. Every world became how he could find the ML which became incredibly easy cause he could just "sense his soul" and how to seduce him. The side characters were mostly all background boards to their romance which was a shame because my favourite arcs were the ones the side characters had a bigger role because it kept things amusing.

Plus, the MC and ML's origin story wasn't it for me. I read it mtl so I'm not sure I understood everything right but from what I gathered

the ML are the MC's missing emotions? I skimmed the rest when I found that out so idk the details of how it all happened but it was a little too selfcest for me. In the original form I think the ML even looks like the MC which is just icky.

Overall, it's not a terrible read. I just don't know if I can recommend it because it gets really weird and boring at times. I had some arcs I liked though so maybe if you did what I did and just skip the weird parts and ignore the true ending maybe you'll enjoy it? The best arcs for me were the cat arc, childhood friends arc, secretary arc, and the dating show arc. <<less
