One thing Sun Zinan really appreciated about Tang Kai was that he wasn't proactive about deciding things on his behalf. He never forced others to agree with him.

Although he didn't seem like it, sun Zinan was the type of person who willingly let others make choices for him. Once someone surpassed the walls of defense he had put up and became 'one of us, ' his tolerance of the other person would reach nearly unconditional indulgence.

It was said that what's easily obtained is often not treasured, but feelings are fragile, priceless goods that cannot be squandered nor sold as consumable products. It was precisely because Sun Zinan had given him his full respect and freedom to do whatever that Tang Kai needed to keep to his boundaries even more.

... more>> Tang Kai didn't even need any personal experience to understand that if Sun Zinan's patience was ever exhausted someday, he would immediately take away those privileges. He would probably never find someone like him again.

A very hard relate with Sun Zinan’s personality!

One of the drawbacks is its shortness. Not enough time to flesh out characters. The flow of the story seemed abrupt to me in quite a few places. The characters are good. In fact it was a fun change to not read about a cold ML and instead read about a ML who is cool yet childish. For some reason with this story, I felt like the author had added a lot of cliché tropes. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t enjoy it either. Maybe it is unfair to compare such short work but still the subconscious comparison with golden stage didn’t help matters even more! <<less

Translator of the novel here /waves/ first of all, this is not a gaming novel but it has a few classic Chinese card game elements

Our main cp know each other because of an offer of arranged marriage, but this novel is about building trust, respect, and pettily throwing digital rotten tomatoes at each other when playing online card games. Although MC and ML are both almost thirty... they've been either too busy turning around a previously corrupted business or sheltered in a laboratory, running biology experiments. Of course both of... more>> them are resistant to the idea of an arranged marriage (for political/business power reasons - who needs love when MC's dad is so power hungry?) but hey, this guy is exceedingly attractive, why don't we just start off as friends?

They don't get married until the very end, so their entire relationship is built up before they decide to get married.

MC and ML are childishly cute. Both of them are highly successful figures, picky, and graceful until they get together and enjoy teasing each other so much they're both left giggling and happy in each other's presence. Despite the forces pushing them to be together, they never stop respecting each other's boundaries and caring for each other. Oftentimes, misunderstandings threaten to tear them apart, but although MC and ML are a little petty (hence throwing rotten tomatoes at each other in their online card game to vent their anger), they learn to trust each other and help each other grow as better communicators.

This novel is mostly fluffy, but I found it to contain beautifully written prose (the og Chinese at least, I can't guarantee it with my translations haha) and a lot of important life advice. The potential of commitment requires trust, communication, and respect. Although MC and ML don't have much experience in that field, they quickly learn that the two of them together is a combination that's both nurturing and comfortable. Their interactions are mostly lighthearted and their conversations are often playful and nonsensical. But the respect and willingness they give each other are what really pushes them to understand that trust and communication (and consent!!!) are the key to any good relationship :) We love a couple with character development and a healthy mindset ♡

Also food. There is SO much food in this novel it makes me eat too many midnight snacks while translating. <<less

I'm barfing up rainbows from all the dog food. The romance is well paced, the MC and ML have a balanced relationship, the comedy has me cracking up, and the the plot is pretty realistic. In the first few chapters you might start to hate the ML, but they both had pretenses up so their interactions are understandable. But after, they get into a relationship pretty quickly and they only have minor quarrels. Overall, a quick and satisfying novel to read.

Oh boy, such a great story, I'm very happy that I finished reading this at the 1st day of 2021, I'm in such a great mood to start a new year. I totally love love love the story flow and plot. The comedy is gold, drama is also 👌, of course the romance is also superb. BL romcom is da best!

NGL, the main cp here became one of my favorites, they're both mature but at the same... more>> time immature like little children (just for fluffs), it's just so cute!

I'm not gonna say much so you there, yes you who's reading this review, go and start reading and don't dally!

I didn’t realize that this was from the same author as Golden Stage, so I am extremely & pleasantly surprised.

Short, heartfelt, sweet. I can’t honestly pinpoint an obvious negative. Fight the Landlord is barely about the card game. It’s more used as a catalyst for the main CP as they met through one of their online rounds. They start off with equally bad impressions. One seems too prudish & cold while the other is rigid & calculative. Don’t be fooled- these two are absolute CLOWNS. I was fed with enough... more>> sugar to give birth to a whopping jolly rancher baby. MC’s past is more delved into. ML lacks the background support. However, I’m not hating it since the two slowly build mutual trust & understanding. I love the support, the realistic notions of hesitation in a relationship- it’s all so bloody cute! <<less

Loved this story!! CP totally gave me same vibe as the CP of Golden Stage, another novel by same author.

The writing skill is definitely a level above most author BL novels. Her MCs and MLs are so loving, respectful, real and wholesome!!

The couple in this story is equally super cute together. She managed to write so much chemistry between them and make MC and ML both so attractive without using exaggerating tropes or give them godly like powers/features. CP bickers a lot like an old married couple. They tease eachother... more>> constantly which was so sweet.

This novel feels like Golden Stage but with different characters and in modern setting. I like Golden Stage more though as that one had much more exciting plot (clever court politics and war). But that is just my personal preference. <<less

I've done reading the MTL of this and all I can say is that 41 chapters is not enough for me!

I've decided to read this because I saw that it is the same author of Golden Stage so yeah 💁‍♀️❤

I love both MC and ML!

Note: The story doesn't really focus is gaming elements, it is more on romance and business.

It was a good read and full of dog food! You will regret not reading this.

It's from Golden Stage author, I have a high expectation, and the story didn't let me down. I ADORE IT.

Another light story with mature leads. Yeay!

They enter their romantic relationship and maintain it in such mature way. There's a bit angst here and there, but it resolves well.

I just love how the writer portrayed our beloved couple, they're mature yet childish, different yet same, but both of them are CUTE. The comedy bantering between them also quite entertaining.

Their pace of relationship is just wow so real. From hating to friends to lovers their actions are all smooth. Looking at this couple make me realize the term " Just fit as pot lid for the pot". They are so perfect for each other. Their childish temperament for each other, their world of two is so warm.

One never received any sincere love from his birth while the other is standing on an ivory tower isolated from the rest of the world. But when they intersect they somehow became... more>> fit for each other. It's the essence of the story.

That's it!!! I've had enough of my single, miserable life!!! Goodbye Earth! Lmao!

If you want fluffy, short and with tons of dog food served from start to finish, this is definitely for you! I love ML and MC's interaction, they're funny and support each other. The author of this novel is the same as Golden Stage, so no wonder the protagonists interaction was not far from the CP in that novel. An unexpected surprise indeed!!!

A nice, funny romcom story about two people in an arranged marriage setting via their families end up dating for real.

It was a nice, calming read with minimal drama and mature characters. Well, at least the main ones, some of the side characters were still quite foolish.

Since this is a spin-off of a Golden Stage extra of a modern AU, we do see Fu Tingxin and Sun Luo again! That was a pleasant surprise.

It's a very short story, all in all, and ended up as a relaxing read for me.... more>> Kudos to the translator for doing such a wonderful job!

The backstory is confusing. Too many plot that being forced to fit the causality in the story. Honestly, not satisfying.

There was a comment that say the couple's love look shallow. Unfortunately, I have to agree with this one. Maybe because this is short story so their love can't be expressed properly? Anyway, this is good and fluff.

A FREAKIN MASTERPIECE!!!!!

I can't express how much I loved it!!!! Ofcourse fantasy type love involving fate/destiny and love at first sight are really well like by me. But a realistic love story of how two people fell in love with each after they decided to give their relationship a try! Absolutely marvellous! I'm the type of person who really believes that once you start dating someone, you'll definitely start developing feelings and it just might turn into true love. And this novel was in line with my thinking!

One thing I'm... more>> gonna praise about this is gonna be how I couldn't differentiate between the uke and seme in it from the start. No matter what, since I'm a veteran now I can always kinda sense which is which.But whoa! I definitely thought Sun Zinan our uke MC was the seme because of his strong personality and president identity while I thought Tang Kai might be uke because he really acted cute and was a professor. But as the story progressed, we got to see their personalities more and more and I was unsure. They could go either way? Like really author, I'm usually sure about my ships but you outsmarted me and charmed me with your ship! I've seen a lot of 'equal standing' couples but I think this couple (whose positions I wasn't sure of) did it the best!They were a true power couple!

The romance was *chef's kiss*. From the start, they decided they wanted to be in a relationship, spent time together and fell in love deeper and deeper to the point of loving each other more than themselves. The consent, the mutual understanding, the consolation, their witty quibbles I freakin loved them all! They were both so mature yet immature and cute at the same time, teasing and quibbling with each other. It all felt so real yet fantastical making my heart go soft!

Even though I really love satisfying revenge, but I feel that Sun Zinan's choice of not bothering with those pigs of a family and finally moving forward was the best choice! Even though he had trauma and depression due to his past, he moved forward and I respect him so much for that! He had a strong personality yet still he was so soft inside.I loved his witty comebacks with the semeand how he was so soft for him and only him making concessions!And YASSS A PRESIDENT UKE! I LOVE IT!!!!

Tang Kai was so gentle and understanding of Sun Zinan. My heart always melted into a puddle whenever he consoled and coaxed him. Willing to do anything for him. And YASSS him not being a overbearing president yandere stronger than the MC was such a relief. He was so childish and clingy with the MC, always wanting hugs and so. Blushing fiercely occasionally like a good wife and listening to the MC always.

My only complain is less chapters. This story had so much freakin potential and I would have loved it if the author even took it to 100 chapters but maybe it was for the best? I seriously loved it!

If you guy wanna read some realistic romance with good fluff/great character development and steady relationship, this is for you! I recommend it 10/10.You gotta read this! <<less

One of the more mature romances. The interactions between the MC and ML are so sweet, although it starts off a bit rocky in the beginning (only for a few chapters).

I know I said it was one of the more mature romances but their personalities are quite childish; they are constantly bantering with each other and practically force-feeding readers with dog food.

Really, really, really recommend!

So recommended. The translation is no doubt very good. I know that in real life it's not as easy but still this novel left my heart light and positive.

I enjoy the novel a lot. Just complete romance and sweetness. All every issue is solved with balanced love and sweetness and reason between both main characters vs others... no unsolved that make heart and mind felt heavy when finish. The relationship growth is well paced. Overall it turned out to be one of the novels I felt most satisfying when ended.

Simple fluffy story with mature adults MC and ML who know how to have a proper conversation. The story isn't much about the game itself; the game was mainly used as a starting point. MC is a wealthy character from a biotech company (but he's mainly a business man), while ML is a bio professor. Family drama wasn't very dogblood, and ML was quite supportive of MC, which is very sweet. Couple was cute.

Overall not a particularly memorable story, but light-hearted and sweet, good for a chill sweet read.
