Yoon Dam, the grandson of a renowned shaman, suddenly begins to see ghosts and supernatural beings after his grandfather’s death. Determined to return to a normal life, he sets out to seek a dokkaebi.

He meets Lee Dohan, a man wearing a ghostly mask at a mansion where he goes to find the dokkaebi. Like Yoon Dam, Lee Dohan possesses the ability to see ghosts and supernatural beings, though he doesn’t care much about them. What troubles him more is the unexplained gaps in his memory.

Caught in a web of strange occurrences, the two men find themselves in each other’s company. Their lives intertwine as they pursue their respective goals, however…

Two men searching for a dokkaebi, and a dokkaebi seeking his lost magic club.

The beginning of a long game of chase traces back to the dokkaebi and his master.

This is literally one of my favorite novels that I considered after finishing reading it. The focus isn't on romance but the plot itself. The novel is mind-blowing because of the back-to-back twists.

First of all, The characters have depth. They weren't just there; they all have a role and reasons for the decisions they make. It's actually so interesting to the point that every time I sleep, I wake up just to continue reading. I'm so intrigued and compelled by the plot!

This novel takes a different approach when it... more>> comes to the toxic/obsessive ML having feelings for the MC. While others fall in love with the ML despite the painful things they go through with them,

the MC here loves and cares for the ML because he's his disciple. He's his parental figure

You should read this with comprehension because without it, you'll be confused. I got confused reading it because I MTL'd the novel. I love the MC here. In both the past and present, his character remains the same, resilient, sometimes afraid but still taking risks because he cares for the ML's welfare.

Everything that happens in the present is connected to the past. In their past, ML was so toxic that MC lost his voice and legs, was confined, and r*ped. ML has done something that makes you DESPISE him. He's so obsessed... that he'll kill those who wants to get near with MC or harm him. DESPITE the fact that the MC doesn't like the ML romantically, again, he cares for and loves him. Later on, MC's feelings change in the present, he even questions himself if he really likes him or not, knowing they had history, but of course he didn't know ML's feelings were one-sided in their past.. ML, who's still toxic but not to that extent, also falls in love again, and it was him who fell first, and MC falls harder. (Both of them fell harder) That's why, this time, it's the MC's turn to do something to save him and protect him, so he won't go astray again.

Emotional ride in this novel. Not your to typical romance but it's heavily on Love and Regret. Also a bit diff from Chaepali-nim's other work (even the drama ones), you'll go "WHAT?!" in here not because of plot twists/reveals but the unpredictable turn of events... more>>

BUT GLAD I DIDNT DROP. The plot towards the end was hard to read, not because of novel problems but more of a me problem not wanting to get more pain...

My fav that really touched my heart was def the line "must look back to the past not walking towards it" and in a diff paragraph "no choice but to walk towards the past unlike him who walks forward" (not accurate) I won't say who said who.

I have soo many favorite lines in this novel that I'll wait for the good tl

The characters aside from MC and ML are also well written, wasn't used as props and really has importance in the novel. I won't say much as it is important to go inside their past.
