Chu Lai, 25 years old, a corporate s*ave at a major company and a part-time gaming streamer, had been in a stable relationship with his boyfriend of three years—or so he thought.

One day, on his way home from work, he noticed his boyfriend kissing an unfamiliar man in the background of a video on his friend’s social media.

He immediately went to a small bar to break up with his boyfriend on the spot, only to be turned on and blamed instead.

His ex-boyfriend sneered, “You’re boring and unromantic. That’s why I’m breaking up with you!”

Coincidentally, the couple sitting next to them echoed the same sentiment:

“You don’t love me or care about romance. We’re done!”

Such a coincidence that Chu Lai actually found it amusing and laughed.

After the breakup, Chu Lai headed to a nearby barbecue stand, where he encountered an elite man who had also just been dumped. They shared a table, drank, and had a decent conversation—but there was no spark.

A week later, Chu Lai received a marriage proposal via WeChat from that very same man.

Chu Lai: “?”

Cen Wei, 29 years old, heir to a famous umbrella-making company, had recently been dumped after a three-month relationship. The reason? He was “emotionally cold” and “not romantic.”

Though he expected the breakup, he wasn’t prepared for the news that his grandfather was critically ill and wished for him to marry before he passed away.

On a whim, Cen Wei opened WeChat and messaged the guy he added that day: “Please marry me.”

At 3 a.m. that weekend, he got an instant reply: “Okay.”

Cen Wei: “?”

Chu Lai enjoys a simple life of three meals a day, work, and rest. If he got used to being single, he could probably live well enough. But he has one peculiar habit—he likes strong, comforting hugs.

So, he decided to jump into a new relationship to fill the emotional void.

It turns out, he ended up with a perfect, if unromantic, soulmate.

Ex-boyfriend: “I can’t believe you moved on so fast! And with my boss? Is this your way of getting revenge on me?”

Chu Lai: “Sorry, I didn’t think that much about it.”

Cen Wei: “Are you done talking? Let’s go home for dinner.”

B-tier (3.2 point)

The story is actually very simple. It's about 2 people who are broken in their young age, found each other and heal each other to be a better person.

Chu Lai is the main character of the story, and the novel started with him. Chu Lai is the person who likes stability and choosing partner is more like choosing a catalogue for him. That's why his relationship with his ex-boyfriend soured over the 3 years they're together, which is also the reason for the cheating. During this time,... more>> Chu Lai met our male lead, Cen Wei, another person who also enter a relationship just like he did in a business, and maybe even with less enthusiasm. These 2 met under such circumstances, and somehow got tangled together.

The entire story is about Chu Lai and Cen Wei finding balance in each other and in their new relationship. It's through each other they found peace and love, and it's also the first time they feel that relationship is something worth fighting for.

What makes me not able to give it a high rating is due to the plot after they got together. It felt like the author didn't really plan their story for long chapters, so at the end, it's quite repetitive in many areas. It's still fun, but it feels like reading 20+ extra chapter of Cen Wei and Chu Lai story. There's also the situation with the first love and the crazy ex-boyfriend of Chu Lai, which kinda dragging the story (early for the first love and later for the ex-boyfriend). It would have been fine even without the extra plot, but the author did include it for almost no reason but to extend the chapters. <<less

Such a lovely heartwarming read. If you're looking for something fluffy, this is definitely it, buuuut brace yourself for some very slice of life pacing.

I loved the MC, and the ML, and gosh ML's family 😭💖. So much healing and so much much-deserved warmth, especially near the end. It also kind of read like a Slice of Life manga the way I could just imagine MC and ML. The translators din an awesome job painting it the way I assume the original author intended.

The MC's decision making is explained later... more>> on as he manages to grow and break out of the shell he had to build to protect himself. They communicate pretty well, even with ML's family, about the need for MC to heal and outgrow his insecurities. <<less

I kinda like it, a Little. A fate bring 2 not so broken heart people together, with a lil careless plus impulsive, end up in flash marriage. It's kinda cute at first, but in between when they awake their feeling, the ML dunno what to do becuz he's a novice in romance, and the MC, even thou he like stability, after the failed relationship, he just don't want to invest about his feeling, afraid to disrupt his boring life and feel like there's no overlap between their background. So there... more>> will be scene where the ML want to be closer and the MC want to step back. It's kinda annoying but also make sense <<less

I really didn't enjoy this.

I didn't understand why they made their flash marriage synonymous with a fake marriage. They were impulsive enough to get married, both sought stability and had low s*x drives, why not try to be a real couple?

I got so frustrated with how mc's rotten peach blossoms kept popping up (cheating ex and first crush). I was pissed that MC constantly reminded us that their relationship was "fake". 3 months was stretched into 50 chapters and 40 of those still revolved around their s*upid fake marriage conflict.

Reading... more>> up to wedding was enough for me. <<less
