Fantastic world with very interesting plots! The romance is crazy literally. Lol I love this author way of writing and the characters were so well written. The translation was top notch, appreciate all the footnotes and summary. The twist and turn will grip you to the world of monster and gods. I never been so concentrated reading every sentence. I will try to read this author other works as translator and reviewers all recommend her works. Thank you

(Sorry. I read it in Chinese but my English is based on Google.)

This is a story that starts like any other adventure and fantasy story. The first chapters are very reminiscent of the Japanese Isekai of the Dungeons monster genre. But the story progresses with some surprises along the way, the protagonists are more than they seem (this is, in fact, a hallmark of this author, her protagonists are always something beyond the image created at the beginning). Be prepared because a certain amount of horror and mystery... more>> mixed in here and there has replaced the original fantasy atmosphere, and at times it becomes a little darker. Maybe it will please those who read “Stray” as it takes place in the same universe, but the two stories are not even related to each other, so they can be read separately.

Regarding a previous comment, which I read here: I didn't understand this person's level of hate. Even if the story doesn't please you, if you are mentally normal you won't have this level of hatred, as there is no point that is really so revolting. At most, you just won't like it, you'll come back here and give it a low star rating, and maybe complain about something you didn't like. You won't be like:

“sh*t, sh*t, sh*t, die author, I’m going to stay here just to read smut”

As with any other novel, please read and draw your own conclusions. I recommend it to anyone who would like to read an Isekai BL with a focus on adventure and mystery, a little romance and maybe a little dark. <<less

I liked nearly all of the writer's older novels, that's why I'm baffled by how generic and unprofessional this one is.

There's even a plot hole in the first 24 chapters.

Characterisation is extremely flat and indistinct, they all have the same voice, you wouldn't know who's talking if their name hasn't been mentioned.

... more>> Characters act in ways that just aren't believable, players show no anxiety, desperation, or really anything you would feel when you are suddenly trapped in a game, instead they seamlessly integrate and still treat it as a game.

Others play heroes at the expense of their own safety, like most of humanity would risk their life for random strangers.

Spoiler

While human players don't die for real, they experience death like it is, pain and everything included.

Yet they go adventuring, cause chaos for fun, etc.

Non-human players die for real, they put their life on the line for "NPCs", aka total strangers they aren't even sure are actually real or just A.I.

Sorry for being too realistic, but the majority of humans won't take even the slightest risk for people they never met before, especially when these "people" might be just a string of code.

I'm really not sure what happened to the writer's skills, if they are trying something new, or if this novel is just for fun, whatever it is, the low quality is unexpected and disappointing.

I'll probably continue to follow it for a few more chapters but the plot hole isn't a good sign even if the characterisation gets better later on. <<less

Shaping up to be another masterpiece from this author. They write dark fantasy so well.

Sweet and vicious all at once. Holding no punches when it comes to the dark nature of humanity and the underbelly of the world but also not holding back on humanity's graces and the beauty of the world either.

Well worth a read along with their other stories.

Highly recommended, this is one of the best danmei novel that I’ve read in a long time with exciting plot twists. People who are so quick to judge it while still haven’t finished reading are so funny, some of you are not even halfway through, and you already understand the whole plot? Everything will be explained gradually and logically. The novel has 248 chapters, why does it have to solve every problem so quickly? And it’s not Mary Sue or has a lot of golden fingers either, every detail has... more>> its purpose that you won’t understand in the first few chapters <<less

Great so far, not sure why this is rated as only a 4 as it is better than a lot of danmei I've read that's rated higher. Review from my rec list: 5/5 for isekai a la Sword Art Online where the game producer along with players and non-players transmigrate into the game he created but find that it seems to have become a world of its own. Surprisingly touching, sometimes a little sad but still warm.

And here I fell in love with yet another work of this author. This author-nim is just special. The way they write their characters, how the plot unravels and how vast the world is. Just beautiful!!

While Stray still stands strong as one of my favorite novels of all time and Nian Zhong's best work yet (in my opinion), this one is still pretty up there. I'm waiting for that other book of her's to finish being translated (it's called Help, I think), so I can read that too.

The complexity of their experiences and the choices they make, their madness, love, family connections...... everything is simply spectacular. It's one of those "As expected of Nian Zhong" things at this point.

Its a bit confusing at first, but as the story unrolls the points get addressed. ML and MC are both lunatics, with ML being a certified psychopath and I don’t have the correct diplomas to diagnose MC.. But yeah. They basically start off using eachother- its a slow burn, almost crawling really. MC falls first, ML gets obsessed first.

The descriptions are.. Disgusting. Don’t read while eating. The imagery is worst than a horror novel.

The story is divided mostly in “quests”. Each quest has a beginning, a climax and an ending, with barely any room to breath between them. Few characters get fleshed out, and there’s definitely an unreliable narrator since we follow mainly Nol or Teest’s POV, with some others sprinkled in. Its hard to form a big picture, but if you manage to connect the dots you’re good to go until the climax and resolution.

Hope I can keep my sanity by the end of it, lol. See you on the other side~

Okay, since this is my first review I'm just gonna put a list on everything I loved about this novel and try not spoiling anything.

  • The world building.
This had the be the first on the list. The absolutely incredible attention to detail that was put into the world building is insane. The things that were mentioned in the beginning that I didn't think we're important always lead to a clue about the world that would later be of use.

  • The relationship.
I loved the romance between the two protagonist from the beginning when... more>> it was just, (I need comfort and you need entertainment, we'll use each other). To, (I'll will burn the world for just another glance from you). And their clingy that all I have to say.

  • The protagonists
I loved both Nol and Teest. Nol and his kind hearted but twisted mind self and Teest with his black heart and twisted mind (other than to Nol, of course)

  • The side characters
My favorite side characters would have to be Lynn, Ben, and Fletcher they made the most impact on me I did like the other side characters too like the hunter and the white wolf and little piel but those 3 had to be my favorite

There were other thing in the novel that I really enjoyed but that would make this review really long so I'll will go ahead and end the list here.

Oh and don't listen to the reviews telling you this was boring or the characters didn't have any personality cause that's just not true, it was just that the author to her time to make sure that the world building a character we're great and they were.

Now I won't lie the chapters were very long, it felt like I was reading 2 chapters in one, I feel like it would have been better to cut the chapters in half even if that would make it 400+ chapters in the end. But other than that small issue I had with the format, I truly did enjoy reading this novel and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for and very intelligent and adventurous with some action and aton of pda pack into it. <<less

I'm gonna come back to this review once I finish reading. I would usually use mtl at this point but I like the novel and I don't want to miss some details because of mtl so I'm patiently waiting.

This is exactly the novel I was searching for currently, smart MC, which is why I'm satisfied with this novel. It fits my current reading needs.

I think the tags are pretty wrong on one part "weak to strong" because I think "strong to stronger" might be more appropriate.

I like the author's other... more>> books too so check on them hehe <<less

Kinda dissapointed.

I was expecting a lot from this as it has the same author from Stray, on which even as it also has problems it was also a good book, but this one feels like similar characters, just downgraded. It did not just brought my issues with the writing skills from the Stray, it also added a lot more faults.

There's so many plotholes. Dead characters, like they reacted weirdly just so the plot can move. Flat characters. And convenience writing. It felt like a messy dream.

Felt like the author just... more>> made this for fun. It's certainly a downgrade from Stray and even as a standalone, it was not even passable. <<less

Aight, this is going into my NU Hall of Fame. It's one of the most cohesive stories I've read on NU.

I would say that every aspect of the novel is quite good. I think the romance started off a little weak because it was sidelined for a bit, but it ended up as a super strong romance. They're so perfect for each other? They're both insane /j

I loved all the characters in the novel. Well, not the antagonist, but they were pretty well-written. The side characters are memorable, and the... more>> main characters are awesome. They all have interesting personalities, and they're quite unpredictable in a good way. If you think the MC powers up too fast or does something you don't understand, it'll get explained later (which is why reviewers who haven't read up to Chapter 200 might be somewhat less reliable). As I said earlier, this is one of the most cohesive and well-connected novels I've read, so pretty much everything, including small details, will link up later or at the end. The ending was great btw. Super satisfying.

The worldbuilding and premise is great, and the plot was never boring. I guessed a few things, but I was surprised by a lot of the well-written twists. They made sense, but I didn't see them coming.

Of the author's novels, this one is my favorite so far. That said, the translator (kudos to them for the awesome translations) recommends that you read Stray (another novel by the author) first since it's like a prequel/related to this novel. I didn't read Stray since it doesn't seem to be my type, and I still enjoyed this novel greatly. <<less

I personally have read all of Nian Zhong's works, and you could say this work is the simplest in plot... I mean, it doesnt mean that this story is not good, it's just that there are too many important minor characters which missing without explanation at the end of the story.

Yeah I know they say that players who don't know the whole truth about Paradise will have their memories erased... It's just that this explanation is too simple and a bit inconsistent with Nian Zhong's style.

The lack of... more>> explanation at the end of characters such as Hot Ash, Abandon, Bly and several other important minor players who don't know about Paradise as a whole can probably be forgiven.

But what about characters like Anakin, Solo and Dorothy??? Anakin and Solo have been on Paradise's side from the start of the story, and not having a pov in the ending at all is really disappointing... and even though Dorothy doesn't know everything about Paradise, in the end she still guesses everything and can be said as the most prominent character from Player's side.

Even Lynn, who is a major supporting character, only gets small inserts at the end, along with Painter, Drake and his goddess.

The other things that good in this story is the fact that Nian Zhong still remains consistent in writing characters in his stories.

And when I said "It's good", it's mean that not all male character must be gay, and not all female characters must be tr*sh or scum... all the characters are written with life, and that was the reason why Nian Zhong story will always be imprinted in memory. <<less

I'm feeling a bit blue as I've just completed this and I have no desire to read something else.

Still stuck in the lovely world of Tahe wondering how is my MC Nol and ML Teest is doing now.

I believe this is the wonder of Nian Zhong's work, they created such a solid world building you will feel like you can imagine and see the world materialize in your brain.

The world slowly and slowly building up and I didn't expect this massive world setting come together just nicely. It is massive... more>> but it works and not confusing at all.

The relationship is complex. It makes me think and think about how hard it is to admit you are in love. But I'm not a psychopath so I don't know how to not feel love. They are sweet but I need more sweet as I'm a glutton for love.

I will now will stare in distance and think what to do with life. <<less

This story so far has been pretty entertaining. It does drag on at certain points, and other times it feels rushed but I do like it.

Romance wise it's very clearly a slow burn, but the communication is good and honestly in bl that's hard to come across.

Translation is very good, although sometimes it's hard to distinguish which character is talking. Translator has added in definitions for certain phrases which is always a plus imo.

Plot is definitely interesting, it's had several interesting arcs and reveals however as I said before the... more>> pacing can be off at certain points which is why I am rating it a 4 for now. <<less
