The Cambrian Explosion, now the largest life science puzzle…

500 million years ago, among single-celled life on Earth , there suddenly began mutations similar to evolution, a variety of gorgeous creatures were born “out of thin air”, all ancestors of today’s species appeared in that short period of time, each species were evolving at lightning speed; billion times faster than today, it was a brilliant era.

Unfortunately, the life of brilliant things are always short, after the brief “Cambrian”, life on Earth entered another 56 million years of evolutionary era at turtle speed. And humans, were also one step faster during the turtle race, and become the leader of life on Earth.

But now — a greater “second age” has come again.

During the lightning speed of evolution, humanity was kicked off of the throne on the food chain in the shortest time possible, and life on Earth, welcomed the second brilliant big bang.

The real end of the world, is no longer brainless zombies or desolate earth, but — the end of mankind, the whole earth’s paradise.

Reviewing as of c56 (Going by with machine translation) :

Maybe it's just an effect of the xianxia that more or less fills up my reading list, but I find this novel refreshing. Not necessarily original, as there are other survival-based novels out there, but refreshing in that the MC and other characters have personality. It's not intense on the action side (as of yet), but we get to witness the MC's emotions in pivotal moments of his survival experience and it feels real, not like the single dimensional facade we... more>> get with a lot of chinese novels. <<less

What I like:

1. Different type of apocalypse story than other novels

2. Powers of some sort

3. Closer to realistic emotional reactions to the apocalypse and events

4. Closer to realistic preparedness of the characters (or lack of preparedness)

What I dislike:

1. Short novel

2. The pseudo science can get annoying when it's obviously wrong

3. Lack of direction/goal besides surviving

If you don't like bad things happening to your main character like helpless idiotic things, this novel is not for you.

Are some characters interesting? Sure, but I mean... how long will you continue to like them will be in question.

the end of the world in this novels is unique. All the powerups and strengthenings make sense and not just game cheats so it makes it more enjoyable to read when you learn there is logic behind it.

It's kind of s*upid idea to use formalin as preserving the meat. The author needs to research more about that subject and why does automatically be formalin when talking about preserving? Why it isn't salt instead or make it a jerky to kill the microorganisms that are present in the meat. They are supposed to be knowledgeable about those aspects and to those thousands of survivors don't tell me they are too s*upid to think that they devolve into a caveman's IQ. Even if the animals and plants mutated they... more>> can survive pretty well in that world compared to what this novel depicted to be. Even normal civilians can make traps for hunting animals. Gosh there is so many downside to this novel. The situation and thought process of everyone in that novel is weird they appeared to be lacking of common sense just to make look the MC's group to be smarter.

P.S. This novel is seriously underestimating the capabilities of humanity. <<less

Freaking great fiction, although it is a bit slow (not much though) it is only because the author takes the time to explain things correctly, it is unique and a completely new concept

This novel is well written, and well translated, but unfortunately... it's sooo slow.

Spoiler

This novel seems to be more of the "survivalist" genre, as the main character stays an ordinary human being while the world evolves at a face pace around him because of the apocalypse... it's just super annoying how everything he needs appears in front of him. Need information? oh, heres the internet. Need a weapon? oh, heres a crowbar.

[collapse]

But, like I said, this is only as of c5... may get better, but doubt it.

The only ever translated apocalypse survival novel that actually revolves around "surviving".

This novel involves super species of flora and fauna that has overran the world, watch as the MC and his lot survive this hell's landscape of prey-be-preyed world where humans are at the bottom of the food-chain.

It's not terrible. It's a bit slow, filled with pseudo-science, and hard to believe. I found myself having to skim/skip all of the explanations, and also the MCs rationalizations. It isn't formulaic, and it isn't incredibly long winded or repetitive. I give every novel extra points for avoiding the many sleazy word count filling practices. It's not bad, but it falls short of most of the other apocalyptic web novels I've read.

Hm, seems like an interesting set-up. However, judging by the current developments, it is an extremely slow-paced novel. Hence, not much can be said about novel at the moment, potential-wise it is a solid 5.

Overrated story with a false fantasy pretending to be real theme.

Fellow the scenario of the story, in logical way, fewer people would survive. The military base should be likely or often attacked by beasts, but non is being mention. First time super MC killed people, he started vomiting, but the MC weak chicken friends looked fine or even feeling better... WTF, since when did his friends become such Beasts haha, this is the s*upid part that break the story.

Good apocalypse story about survival of the fittest during ultra-rapid evolution of all that lives.

Well-paced storytelling, rich setting with solid inner logic and the fact that even the episodic characters have belivable personalities totally won me over.

MC starts as an average high-schooler protag, with no social or personality issues, and from there works hard to survive in the wild jungle of an overgrown city, with all the food perishing within a day or two. His trade is a hunter and during the most of the first volume he is weak... more>> as fk. He gets some light perception-based abilities and uses his trusty sidekick-an orphaned loli as a portable radar (lol). All he wants is to survive while keeping human dignity if possible.

Side characters come and go, and they do their job of enriching the main story properly during the many of it's incredible turns. MC eventually evolves into someone on the stronger side, but its always a struggle.

A good read. Unlike most of the chinese online novels, I'd gladly buy this one if its ever released as a translated book. <<less

Really great novel. This novel is a ride of emotions, the MC and his gang go through many troubles to survive an apocalypse involving rapidly evolving organisms. This is somewhat different from the rest of the apocalyptic novels, because it involves a bit of sci-fi fantasy biology, compared to zombies, viruses, demons and magic

Spoiler

At one point the story shows some absurdly powerful evolved organisms, this hints that the story may to turn into a large scale battle between humans and the rest of the world with incredibly super-powered combatants, like in a cultivation novel, I would not mind this. I just hope the story does not become too magical, and retains it's sci-fi feel.

[collapse]

On a side note, ignore those who complain about the science in this novel. It is a fantasy novel, what do you expect? It is not meant to be scientifically accurate, as long as it is convincing. Complaining about the science in novels is like trying to make sense out of the profound stuff xianxia authors like to write. It's fiction, if you can't deal with it's realism then go read a history book. <<less

Best novel on this site. I'ts good enough to be turned into a graphic novel.

it has an original plot with interesting pseudo-science and in a few cases real science.

and absolutely non of the childish self-glorifying fantasies you find on here. It feels like the creator is a true author, a real creative, and not someone living out a silly fantasy. ('Dungeon seeker' feels the same but has more of the typical tropes)

I Love it and would highly recommend. The characters are well fleshed out, even random characters, and the... more>> game elements are so intelligently implemented it doesn't even feel like they are there. It feels like a real novel.

Great story so far, very interesting and full of struggle, twists, and turns. Everyone in the comments is gushing over how the MC isn't some OP ruthless pyscho but I can't fully agree.

I mean, it IS great that it isn't another story where the MC is strong enough to 'challenge Gods' by the third chapter or whatever. My problem is that he is way too average for me personally. A MC should have some quality that seperates him from others, that puts him ahead. While this is very clear, it... more>> is only within his own species. Everything else can seemingly 'one hit KO' him.

I admit, I haven't read too far in so I can't be 100% sure whether this changes or not. As a reader, my prospective throughout this work will follow the MC and while I can say its nice not to be so OP, I also don't want to be completely powerless either. At least for now, I'm going to hold out on this and will probably pick it up later when I finish some of my other novels and there is more content. <<less

Global Evolution is a very good apocalypse-fiction that does not include any fantasy or game elements within it. It is one of the most realistic apocalypse fiction with humans and other creatures developing unique powers as they evolve into a creature of greater strength.

GE is a very slow paced novel, it's contents are standard CN chapters and hence, the content doesn't fill up that much yet, if you are not a patient person, then I recommend you to wait until more chapters are saved up or you have to rely... more>> on mtl, because Ge is one of the few novels that gets you hooked and curious.

Follow Chang, an ordinary student with standard grades, standard look, standard physicality as he embarks on an adventure within a world undergoing super evolution. He will be accompanied by some of his similarly evolving friends as they discover the world like they never before.

The MC, Chang is not a finished product. He is undergoing character development from an ordinary student to a survivalist in the apocalypse. So if you cannot handle the usual slight hesitation or amateurish decisions, then this may not be for you. However, GE doesn't have too much of that, only very few and it's not to the point of becoming annoying at all.

Exciting & Well done apocalypse, 8.7 for now, will look forward to the future developments! P.s if only the translation could be faster..I'm not that convinced that the translator is especially motivated to translate 3x a week.. <<less

This is an interesting novel, at least at the beginning (up to ch. 20 now). Without spoiling too much, this is an apocalypse setting where everything goes through mutations, including the flora and bacteria, which is a better twist than the usual zombie thing. The characters are interesting and the author seems to have put some thought into the background of the setting, ... more>>

for example using biology references for a while and using it as foreshadowing

Which is a good thing and a bad thing as it gives the work a lot of personality but also makes it just sooo slow. Either way, I'd recommend this. It seems to have a lot of potential. <<less

A severely overrated series, best left for young teen readers with "cool, badass hero" fantasies. The Intelligence Quotient of the characters is slightly below average, the power gradings pop up automatically

Spoiler

No one asks why a little girl can accurately measure distances of 30m, 50m, 100m and above accurately when grading the danger levels.

[collapse]

The characters are flat as paper and all attempts to make them rounded sound hypocritical. And the MC starts to smoke weed? No joke, his friend rolls up some nice weed cigars (anyone that read this and didn't catch the blantant reference is too young to he reading this). The characters try to show their emotional side one second, but are off being uncaring, self-centered and worrying about only their own survival instead of tossing one or two lifesavers to other human or those in authority. It portrays an immature view of society.

Plus,

somehow trained soldiers can't hunt without their guns and a freshly repeating high school kid can go out and hunt dogs and chickens. And what happened to their educated professional why aren't they helping out nursing, researching or suggesting better methods for hygiene, food preservation etc. Imagine the authorities know there are monsters in the toilets and they do nothing...

oh and formalin? Seriously? All those chemistry classes plus Google and formalin? I cried.

Now on the side characters, nothing. There 7s literally no one with a memorable defining trait or quirk. They are there to suffer, kick-ass, act as survivors and sneer down at others. Parents unsurprisingly get cut off fast, all the time! They are morally questionable, even killing their dormitory roommates because the family saw their meat and wanted to blackmail for some. What were they expecting taking meat there? How the heck did they get it in without anyone noticing? Too many loopholes. The dialogue is uninspiring (nearly slept through an interesting scene). The opening world background is good but, preceding events show they have toys for humans in this universe. <<less

So far it has been a good read. The MC's character is realistic. He isn't OP or heroic. He's just a normal guy who was slightly luckier than others to have saved someone he needed to keep the story going. Although, that person is overly attached to MC for no real reason that I can tell.

The side character's personalities are well written, even if they are going to die in the near future.

The science involved is meh. There are some aspects that are too convenient. Especially about the red fog.... more>> We're being repeatedly reminded that normal people cannot see more than three meters.

Our MC can see around seven to eight meters in the beginning but he was described to be practicing crossbow with a tree 40 meters away. This also applies to everyone else around as the vision blockage is selectively forgotten whenever convenient.

Good thing is that there isn't too much differentiation between sexes and characters are limited to having heard about r*pes and other crimes at this stage.

Looking forward to romantic interests to come on board as the novel isn't particularly long and it does have a romance tag. Could just be a troll though.

Probably the most realistic disaster novel I've read. Not that I've read many. <<less
