The horror game has descended upon the world!

Those chosen must risk their lives to control spirits and become spirit tamers to have a chance at survival!

However, Lin Yu has awakened the “Divine System,” granting him access to the underworld currency that can be used in the ghost realm!

His amount of underworld currency is in the hundreds of millions or even trillions… almost infinite!

Therefore, while other players cautiously approach the spirits, trying to please them,

Lin Yu’s situation is completely different,

Relying solely on the underworld currency in his hands!

A seductive ghost secretary is helping him manage affairs in the ghost realm,

A cute and beautiful ghost director is pestering him for a business deal,

And a fierce and powerful ghost chef is constantly cooking for him in various ways…

As he looks at one powerful spirit after another submitting to him,

And glances at the other players struggling to survive in the dungeons!

Lin Yu sighs!

“This horror game…”

Rating: 3/5

(Rated 5 by accident, will need to rate bomb the sh*t out of this to balance it out)

This novel is a prime example of false advertising. I've read up to chapter 328 (via MTL), and it's filled with contradictions, plot holes, and missed opportunities. To note a few:

... more>> 1. Misleading Tags

The novel is tagged as harem/romance, and the synopsis reinforces these expectations. However, there's absolutely no meaningful development in either of these areas. The MC shows zero interest in relationships, and he ignores both women and men, save for the ocassions where he absolutely hardcarries the f*ck out of them (for free). The supporting characters rarely contribute anything, if at all. Also, with a finance-based system, you'd expect the MC to maximize every opportunity, yet he repeatedly acts against this. For example, during real-life missions, he has multiple chances to leverage government favors but chooses not to.

2. Tr*sh Character Dynamics

Recurring side characters are a drag on the story. Most of their interactions involve the MC hardcarrying them with no reciprocation at all. Take the international ghost tamer competition, for example, where these side characters had the audacity to expect rewards from the MC despite him doing all the work. Their existence feels pointless, since they neither aid the MC nor contribute to the plot.

3. Inconsistent MC Behavior

The MC is portrayed as cautious but constantly leaves loose ends for his enemies to exploit. He likes flaunting his wealth and his power recklessly. To make matters worse, he does not even try to deal with potential threats actively nor does he demand appropriate compensation whenever he bears these risks for others. For example, during the rescue mission for that one female government-affiliated ghost tamer, he risked his life with no reward. As a bonus, because of this mission, he became an assassination target in both real life and in the ghost world, yet he received no compensation from the government. Despite all this, he did not express any dissatisfaction at all, which is just so logically flawed. You're telling me willingly incurred all those loses just because it was a request for a woman? What a f*cking simp. His overly nonchalant act is plain irritating, and practically screams lazy character writing.

4. Pacing and Power Progression

The MC's cultivation progress is frustratingly slow despite having access to immense resources. It was established earlier on that he could grow stronger through eating, and he even has a personal ghost chef to help with this. Yet somehow, his progress remains completely average; even the newbie girl he saved during the first arc has caught up to him, despite having no background or financial leverage in the ghost world.

Overall: The MC is annoyingly written, constantly failing to capitalize on opportunities and often acting against his own ideas. The side characters are dead weight, the pacing feels off, and the tags are completely misleading. All in all, the premise had potential, but the execution is basically shit. I'd caution interested readers against reading this. If you have limited time, don't waste it on this. Just give the author a quick death threat, call him an autist, and move on. <<less
