I, Song Woo-yeon, am here.

Armed with future knowledge and an unwavering spirit, she sets out to rebuild her empire and outmaneuver the very corporation that once destroyed her.

A mixture of cooking and business, which sets it apart from the finance / corporate business regression novels I've been reading lately. Overall the quality is still decent however.

The main point of lament would be that it's basically repeatedly emphasised that her previous life would have actually been the better story.

Unlike usual regression stories where the past life was either mundane, success-driven without ethics, or simply a string of failures or misfortunes, the protagonist's past life was actually full of meaningful struggles with ups and downs, learning about food and... more>> business through experiences.

But instead the novel skips all that, makes it a regression, and she succeeds at anything she touches. That in itself is not written poorly, but as a subject matter it seems less interesting by comparison.

The biggest struggle is the dissonance between her young outside appearance and her matured capabilities. This isn't entirely unusual in regression stories of course, but is emphasised due to her gender. Both business and cooking are more male dominated sectors, whereas she appears perfectly natural when taking up the role of a serving part-timer.

But aside from her new life going unnecessarily smooth, there are no major flaws in any aspect of writing. The characters are decent, there's depth in dialogues and emotions, both food and business are depicted in sufficient detail, and there's regular situational humour that doesn't feel forced. The pace is also not too slow, nor too sped up with time skips. It's hard to keep track of overall time that passed, but it doesn't give the impression of potentially having missed important events. <<less

After being destroyed by the largest corporation, the main character Song Woo-Yeon gets a second chance to rebuild her food franchise empire.

This novel makes me miss a lot of shows that are being used as referenced/inspirations in this story because lot of them are not running/airing anymore.

There are quite of lots of mentions/references of real Korean shows/personalities/celebrities, with the main character being similar to Genius Chef Paik/Baek, the king of franchises....... to popular shows like Infinity Challenge, Take Care of the Fridge (known as Chef & Fridge on Netflix), Master... more>> Chef, My Little Television, Baek Jong-won's Alley Restaurant, etc

So as someone who watched Korean variety here and there, I feel the written details are lacking & not as vibrant, pretty reliant on the reader filling in the blanks assuming they know of the shows being mentioned.

But little surprised that the author is very obvious with the direct mentions of these shows/celebrities/personalities.. which makes it feels unoriginal... However the author gives a revenge & future foresight motive to the main character's action, but she lacks a bit of charm and substance if compared to the real chef she's sort of based on.

Spoiler

To explain, Chef Baek/Paik is known for using lot of sugar & helps failing restaurants by giving advice in Alley Restaurant.. He also was in My Little Television for some segments & has some foodie traveling show & has a ton of franchises & makes deals with farmers to help sell their produce.

Some of his reason for these actions are to help improve Korean Restaurant businesses thrive & help areas struggling (such as poor farms / bring more tourism to the less-known areas) & promote Korean food on a global scale.

[collapse]

But it's likely because the author wants to give the main character celebrity status within a short time frame that shows keep being name-dropped.

I hope the story develops further with a bit more into the whole revenge/future foresight plot with more originality though. <<less

It is well written, but I would only recommend it if you like Mary Sue's age regression business novels, where everything goes perfectly the second time around.

Its kinda boring after you hit the chapter 100 mark, but its a good time waster if you want to learn a bit about the food/restaurant franchising process.
