The protagonist spends most of his time in prison giving lessons that feel like the author copy pasted theories from science, humanities and social studies books. Beyond that, he doesn't do much. He claims his ultimate goal is "world peace and an end to suffering, " yet he suggest wiping out any ethnic group that refuses to submit to the Ming dynasty. While it's understandable that medieval characters might admire such ideas, it's harder to accept that those ideas are from someone who was originally born in a modern era with contemporary values. It felt less like he was reincarnated and more like he was simply born in that period with knowledge from the future. There is too much adulation for the Ming Dinasty to my taste.
