I like the novel and how the author wrote the MC's acting but because of how short it is and how it feels a bit rushed at the end, I have to give it a 4✯ instead.

It's not a bad novel but it does feel like it's lacking something but I don't know what it is.

I have to say that there are some parts of the novel that became my favorites, which saved it from becoming a 3✯ rating.

(1) The first one would have to be his short scene with his former boyfriend. He played as a Japanese character and it made me feel excited and tense when he pressured the guy during his acting. It kind of reminded me of Skip Beat because of the way the author wrote it.

(2) The other one would be the immortal character. The way he switched from youthful to vengeful was really great for me.

(3) Bo Ying was really sad. It made me tear up a bit at the end and I'm glad the author made this the last one in the story. It made more impact for the MC and ML's relationship in front of the audience.

I would've liked the Cat movie they filmed if they showed more scenes about it. I liked how the author wrote the story and how the MC found his inspiration for acting but I wish it could've been written longer.

Characters:

(1) Out of all the characters, Yang Yu is probably my favorite. Odd, yes. But in my opinion, he's just doing his best as the MC's agent and despite MC's knowledge about the future, Yang Yu often shows the MC that he knows how to do his job.

They're not friends but they acknowledge and respect each other's strengths.

(2) I have to admit that the ML is really likeable. Most danmei and even BG novels have cold and domineering CEO type of ML and it just feels boring to me. The ML in this novel is warm and understanding. He tries to help when asked but he trusts the MC to be able to lift himself out of trouble.

(3) Oddly, I like Ji Chen. Or rather, how he was written. Honestly, if he is a character in another entertainment novel minus the s*umbag moments when he tried to kill the MC in their past life or how he tried to use his "girlfriends" in the MC's second life, Ji Chen would've been a great ML. I can actually see it if he's written properly.

The tension they had during the first scene they played together was really great. It caught my attention more than his first interaction with the ML. I would've liked more MLs who are arrogant but got stunned (whipped) by the MC's skills/talent instead of the usual cold or overbearing ones I see in other novels.

I still like how really aggravating he is but is also just a person who is a product of pride and greed (and family drama).

But of course, this is a novel about healing and nothing can erase the MC's trauma that he experienced in his former life because of this man.

(4) Meng Churong was also written well. Her emotions from the moment she was introduced until the moment she lost the girl who loves her because of her inaction and greed, were all written well.

She's okay and I would've wanted to see more of her as well.

If Meng Churong (and Ji Chen) wasn't so vindictive and malicious because of her jealousy, I would've sympathize with her more. But near the end, I just pity her and her position because of her family and Ji Chen.

(5) Cao Qiyue doesn't appear a lot but when she does, she's really cool. She's casual about her anti-fans and is really serious about music. I'm really glad the author added these two women to the story. Danmei novels usually have little to no women in the story and without Cao Qiyue, this novel would've been less interesting.

Her friendship with the MC is really sweet and I'm happy they have each other to rely on.

So yeah, it's okay. It's not bad but it's not the best. The romance is okay and done alright (if you know how the ML fell in love with him). There are face-slapping moments but it's mostly because of their own actions rather than the MC. <<less

I like the novel. It's a good read and the characters are likeable. I like the MC and ML and the revenge is satisfying.

The reason I gave it 4 stars is because it's good but inconsistent. The MC is reborn and we're constantly told that he's gone through the most up and downs than any normal actor. That he's gone through a lot of setbacks which is why he has so much experience once he is reborn.

But we're shown inconsistencies with this when he goes to the ML to get... more>> advice when his company decides not to give him any PR and exposure for his role in his drama.

Sure, I understand him still feeling frustrated and uncertain once he's blocked even though he's gone through it before because, no matter how many times it happens, it's normal to feel these feelings when faced with unfairness. But in order to fill in some cute interactions between the MC and ML, he's being given advice by the ML even though he has more experience than him in constant setbacks since he was reborn.

I didn't mind it but it felt unnecessary for him to go to him for advice since he's probably already been through something like this before and worse.

It's like their trying to make him relatable even though he's reborn which I appreciate and it works sometimes but for the example I gave above, it comes off as awkward and random.

I like the novel though. There is an unnecessary amount of physical descriptions of how attractive he is but most Chinese novels do it so you get used to it lol.

I'd say it's deserving of 4.3 stars. It's a good read, not too angsty and cute moments between the main couple. Good and fleshed out female characters as well which I really like. <<less

Though the idea of second chances and rebirth is not new, I liked how the author focused on the MC getting a new chance and acting on it for himself, and not wasting all his new life to "make others pay". The focus is on him getting the happiness he deserves.

Pretty good. Both the way they wrote the characters and story are engaging. I never felt that something was going on for too long that it bored me. The MC was different from other transmigration MCs since he didn't go after the people who did him wrong before and only wanted to be a great actor and I find that realistic. If any of us had the life he had we would also want to change how our life was affected instead of wasting time on worthless people.

The ML was... more>> very sweet and supportive, although he didn't have character growth I still enjoyed him being there. They had a nice and soft romance, nothing too out of the ordinary. I liked the side characters but they also didn't have much character growth but hey it was expected from a short novel. Generally speaking, the novel was good but pretty ordinary. Being ordinary isn't bad though don't get me wrong, it was still a good read. The translation was sometimes hard to understand and sometimes had mistakes but still a good translation. Thank you for your hard work, dear translator. (Ps. Can't wait for the untranslated extras)

I think the best part of the story was the last movie they shot. The story of the movie and the exposition made me emotional. The characters in the movie had depressing but realistic stories and I felt what they went through. The author does a really good job explaining the characters people play in the movies and TV shows in general. <<less

I've read a few too many entertainment novels and I don't get the same enjoyment spending a good chunk of a novel reading plots of movie scripts and tv shows outside of the actual novel plot. Objectively, it's impressive how the author spent so much detail on these plots (could possibly publish them separately as a shorter standalones). Subjectively, I usually need to drag myself through those parts (and possibly take judicious breaks or just skip).

The one exception might be Bo Ying, the author did a good job with that... more>> and would highly recommend reading this for that story in and of itself.

Overall not super memorable, but if you like this genre of show business revenge face slapping, this is alright. <<less

This was such a bittersweet, melancholic, poignant read.

I feel like the author was better able to grasp at my negative emotions, that even though it has a happy ending, I didn't get a cathartic release.

The novel starts with a tragic first life for Zhou Yuhe. &Amp; it also ends with a tragic movie MC acted in. I so desperately wanted MC to win. His relationship with ML was beautiful but I think the acting encompassed the bulk of the book. They just happened to act together.

It's possible to give the... more>> 2 main antagonists grace, understanding the pressure they faced from their families and in their careers. But I choose not to because I believe they were inherently selfish characters who didn't even understand love. It's difficult to sympathise with characters who express self hate & their cowardice in such destructive ways.

My rating is low because I truly didn't end this novel on a cathartic note. Perhaps I wish the antagonists suffered & wallowed more in their regret. <<less

I Loved It!! The plot maybe a bit cliche but still loved it. (⁠๑⁠♡⁠⌓⁠♡⁠๑⁠) It was slow in romance and all, can be a bit lagging, and boring but still good. You might not like all of it but will like most of it, just be patient and read. It is basically not a revenge plot, cause MC had taken his revenge in the past life. He just let go of past hatred gradually. Now he just wanted to fulfill his acting dream. He normally did what he had to... more>> and reply what was done to him by others, The overcoming from every difficulty was refreshing. And because of butterfly effect everyone got what they deserved. (⁠ ⁠◜⁠‿⁠◝⁠ ⁠) ⁠♡ Liked both MC & ML 's character. Their relationship was fast paced but took time to turn that into romance. Have you heard of a perfect ML with brain & understanding, here's the one. (⁠◕⁠ᴗ⁠◕⁠✿⁠) Most of the movie plot MC acted was briefly described. But the last one "Bo Ying" that MC & ML did was a good story itself loved that, it was well described. The extras explained the ML's life in MC's previous life, present life's ji chen's reoccurring dream, and little bit MC & ML's present. (⁠ ⁠ꈍ⁠ᴗ⁠ꈍ⁠) So give it a try if you have time.

Good read that can get a little dry but still entertaining. The intro isn't entirely accurate, the following won't be much of a spoiler since it happened in the first chapters.

MC, Zhou Yuhe, knew he didn't have long to live so he killed his ex, Ji Chen, and died too. His ex had plotted for him to be burned the first time and wanted to hurt MC again. Before MC's death his last thought was of ML, Xie Yifeng. MC woke up in the past before he met his ex... more>> and ML.

Revenge is not MC's goal, he just wants to avoid his ex and act. The romance between MC and ML is low key with minimal drama.

MC was in love with ML in his last life but felt he wasn't good enough for ML. ML had loved MC ever since high school. MC wasn't aware of ML's feelings until he was reborn.

They confirmed their relationship, set up a company, came out to the public, and starred in an award winning literary film together.

Oh god! I enjoy reading the novel so so much 😭. It's such a heart-warming love, slow but sweet, while the novel's focus is more inclined to to the MC's acting career. I love this novel so much. Maybe I prefer slow-paced romance, so it's very enjoyable. I have planned to write my own comment but some previous ones have already listed out the pros and cons, including reasonings. Therefore, I just wanna say that READ THE NOVEL, U WON'T REGRET IT

I completed the novel but I didn't really get into the feeling of like being inside the novel like other novels made me feel whenever I read them. Nonetheless, it's a worth to read novel and good choice to pass a time.

A lovely, relatively low-key rebirth story. I love how the main character doesn't need to exact horrible revenge on anyone. He just treats people based on what he's learned of their character from his previous life and tries to make sure the people he cares about has a better life. We learn that the MC didn't fully understand his old lover in his past life, but I love how that isn't any excuse to give him a second chance (one almost - death was enough, no matter what the reason).

The... more>> author uses his past and current life to contrast a toxic relationship with a supportive one and it's wonderful. When you're in a supportive relationship, no need to care about previously intoxicating people who were bad to you.

I also love how even rebirth didn't give the MC an invincible golden finger. He still runs into trouble and occasionally feels helpless and needs help. This makes the story feel more realistic to me. <<less

My problem is that there's plenty of potholes. The side character was mentioned less and less.. but nonetheless the ending is still good. It's full of sweetness❤️❤️❤️ still story also involves of alot of awareness for environment, stray cat and same s*x marriage as well as on society, cultures and old tradition shows that our mindsets should broaden and start to focus and understand the problems that was cause to ignore because of time and prejudice by old people, So Its helpful to start developing our understanding to "other part of the city" as the world continue to evolve. <<less

I am a fan! The story is well written. And I enjoyed the different plots of the movies (I cried a bit after boyang arc). I like the romance between MC and ML. And there’s just enough plot spice for me. Enjoyable and recommend!

I was skeptical at first, I won’t lie. The translation alone was sometimes hard to get through simply because it seemed unedited and there were many places I needed to mentally correct.

However, this novel was so soft. I enjoyed how gentle a love this was. The ML wasn’t obsessive and possessive much like the MCs initial choice in lovers, but rather he was a calming safe haven that allowed him to flourish with a gentle push for encouragement.

I also loved our gay bestie Queque, I may be in love with... more>> her. Anyway, I was just happy he was able to save her.

The one thing that I wish they’d gone into detail about, is how Ji Chen ended up. What his thoughts and reaction to the MC and ML comeback was and if he ever just gave up.

I’d have also wish as an extra maybe, that the MC told ML about his past life. It would have been interesting to see.

overall, I loved this and recommend it. 4.5/5 on the high end. <<less

This is not a bad novel but reading so many reborn entertainment novel, this falls shorts.

This is not revenge story and I am fine with it.. The MC just decide to turn his life around from his previous bad decision form his last life. He wants nothing to do with all his ex which he believe is the reason why his previous life is ruins. The reborn MC is definitely the better version of him as him from his previous life is easily influence by others.

It's true he got golden... more>> finger thus he know which drama, movie, director or actors that will make it big thus he took advantage of that for his career and become successful in the industry. He saved the friend he's unable to save and avoid the bad things from his previous life.

This is more of a story how the MC turns his life around after he got his second chances. The interaction between ML and MC is a little lacking in my opinion. It's is focus more on the MC side and not so much on the ML story. The MC pretty much do all the decision making on his own and only seek ML when he's running out of options.

The rating is purely based on my opinions after reading quite a number of similar novel. Like I said, it's not a bad novel but I personally thinks it's a little lacking but I still finished the novel. <<less

[This is an edit to my rating. Idk how to change it but I'd give it a 4 star] The addition of "The Liar" kind of sniped it in the start. The game was hard to understand, even with the comments trying to explain. Thankfully it got better.

Asids from that, there's also the MC and ML. I love them and could go on but for now I'll list some irks I have.

1. It might be that the chapters aren't that long which makes the romance feel almost flimsy. Don't get... more>> me wrong, their interactions are very adorable and almost a "high school love" sort of affection but they really don't interact too much.

2. We don't get much on the ML's side. Very sad. There is one chapter where we see an explanation of why and how he fell in love with MC but nothing more than that. And again, I really hate the reality TV show arc.

3. Side characters. I feel like the more important characters are the MC's manager, ML, and MC. If you really want to, you can consider the MC's ex gf as an important character too. Other than that, no notable characters which makes me sad. I can't help but compare this novel to other entertainment novels such as Very Happy, Superstar Aspirations, and I Have Amnesia. Compared to those, rhis novel feels second rate. It has the potential but wasn't given the time it needed to shine.

That's it for the complaints. Here are some things I loved:

1. The romance between the MC and ML. When these moments really happen, it's insanely cute. The ML is respectable and very gentleman like as he gives the MC the space he needs. The MC isn't blindly rushing into the relationship despite his slight crush on the ML in their past life.

2. The films. Searching for the Heavens, Rejuvination, and Cat and An Xuan. Though nothing revolutionary, both films have a decent plot that could garner thousands of fans. I'm particularly inclined to Cat and An Xuan because of the message it sends to viewers. And Rejuvination is a very sweet plot with no jealousy or relationship deteriorating fights.

3. Relationships. Again, MC and ML, very cute. MC and his ex gf are like brother and sister. They ended their relationship cleanĺy and remain in a good relationship. MC and his manager's relationship is okay. Nothing too bad considering the situation the MC regressed to.

All in all, It's not the best, not the worst, just decent. <<less

It's alright, it's a good novel! The plot paces alongside the business aspect of the story, so the entertainment stuff is very consistent. The romance is a bit refreshing, mostly in the pre-relationship part where they both have feelings for each other, but hasn't ended up together/decided to date officially. Otherwise it's relatively normal, very standard ent biz theme, reborn novel.

It delivers what it says it does! The reason I gave it a 3 is because the protag reached the top of the top right off the bat (after rebirth),... more>> thus you don't really experience the climb, or feel very attached towards him. While it's nice, this also means the world building and cast members are very small. Recyclable characters, because you're now a big fish in a small pond. There's not much room for maneuver here, but I think the novel did a good job of exploring the idea of 'now that we're at the top, we have to keep floating and balancing this delicate game of psychological warfare -- to stay up here' -- It's a trade off, not sure if it's good or bad in the end, but it's definitely adventurous, they really commit to it, so I respect it. I don't think I've seen these types of thing elaborated on in other novels, maybe a few instances, but not a whole novel focusing on this theme. So it's pretty interesting, but I can't say it's blowing my mind out of the park. It's good, satisfying. Nothing to really nit pick on other than it's just very 'standard', not outstanding. But that in itself is pretty good!! <<less

The story feels very light. Rather than facing challenges in his life, Yuhe faces more career challenges from what I can see. In here, MC is an actor. Although there weren't that much challenge because of his golden finger, I think the portrayal of the industry is better than most webnovels. MC also has struggles when receiving the same role.

It would be better if there are more depth to his character. Where the focus is on him as a person who happened to be an actor.

I love the ML here, so supportive in MC, and I pity the ex, well I know the MC was hurt by the past ex, but the current ex was different from past ex, so I pity on present Ex, it can't be help... the ML was miles better than the EX.

good read... it’s not the most spectacular entertainment bl out there, considering that the entertainment aspect is almost the same as the numerous entertainment novels in circulation, but what made this refreshing for me is the fact that the MC did not focus on getting his revenge and making sure that those who did him wrong in the past suffer the same fate after he was reborn. the MC just did his best to live a better life and did not let the grievances of the past dictate the... more>> course of his rebirth... I think the story’s illustration of karma and a bit of the butterfly effect was good... overall the story was good, not too heavy, nor too fluffy... if you’re looking for an easy to digest entertainment bl that isn’t so heavy-handed on the face slapping and still leaves some room for the villains to redeem themselves, then you can consider reading this <<less
