I actually didn't expect much when I first started this novel, I'm just starting it for the smut cuz I listened to a short audio drama clip and someone said there's smut lol but I didn't expect it to be good. Every chapter had me on a rollercoaster.

Everyone including him thought that he was abandoned, but no, his father just want to protect him and want to help him secure the throne by doing so, cuz once he went there, the northern border army will be involved, since they're involved they have no choice but to help him.

The MC on the other hand is cold, I feel like he's a selfless person, and living just for the sake of it

He received kindness from the old general and been doing his best to protect the family and the border that was entrusted to him. It's sad cuz he had even dug his own grave preparing to die at any time, but it was understandable considered where he came from

What I like about it was how well-written it was, the power struggle, the war and stuff wasn't boring. However, it was quite short even with the extras T_T (I in fact want more) it's mpreg and quite realistic compared to the other mpreg novels (not included omegaverse) I've read. There's some angst, not heavy btw.

Overall, I hope I don't ruin anyone's reading experience with my review lol this is my first time writing a review and I just want to share my opinion. <<less

Meant to put 4 stars (closer to 3.5) - fast paced, liked the quick progression of plot, relationship less so, but its all in the tags. Not sure how people are differentiating MC and ML- the first 10+ chapters are mostly from Yuan Zheng's (gong) 3rd person perspective and then it becomes more even between the two and flip flopping. YZ starts off seeming like an as*hole but he has to grow up fast in the face of war.... and here is when CYL (shou) starts to admire him... and... more>> things only get more dog-blooded from there. <<less

i was expecting this to be a simple historical fic which isn't really plot driven but it actually turned out to be an interesting plot with war and political intrigue.

the forced persuasion of ML was really tough to read and especially what he did to the MC was needless to say very off-putting, but well MC falls in love with the ML when ML realises his mistake. But idk why until the very end I felt that the progression of their relationship seemed unnatural to read. Yes, towards the end they do become a great couple with a sweet kid but honestly the chemistry between them is not something to go gaga over.

From the start, I really hated the good for nothing prince. Being immensely doted by the emperor, he only cares about enjoyment and play but was still seen by many as a potential candidate for the next emperor. One day, the emperor decided to send him to the northern borders after he fought with another royalty in the public over a courtesan.

At the northern pass, he was super irritating and obnoxious. He enjoys going against everyone and disturbing the army general. I really dislike that he uses his position as... more>> the prince to make people bend for him, including the general. There is an early non-con and lots of smut throughout the story. Even so, the court politics were really intriguing. I love reading the internal fights.

However, war came and going through life and death together makes him grow up and gradually I don't hate him that much anymore. There's no crematorium, just sourness as both their statuses were unable to allow them to be together. The general did hate the prince for what he did, but also gradually mellowed by the sincerity from the prince. The story was well written, brought me tears here and there. There was a possible second CP which wasn't explained further which was a pity. Being someone who didn't like inters*x characters, this one surprisingly made me love it. The kinks were really hot especially towards the end. The mpreg part was realistic too. I binged this novel in a week and it was satisfying for me. <<less

All I could say is wow. Been on reading slump but this one managed to keep me up all night and stay until 2 AM in weekdays. It is THAT good. A perfect mix of romance, smut, and plot

I love how their relationship and feelings progressed throughout the plot. It started as noncon with undeniable s*xual tension. It started just to satiate the prince’s “urges” and curiosity. But steadily they slowly descended into a deeper relationship, the plot moving in a very smooth pace that it feels natural. Oh and... more>> I adore the balance of romance, smut & plot. Is it romantic? Yes. Smut? Definitely. But this is more than just that. There is struggle of power everywhere (despite not being too detailed but just enough to push the storyline) and I loved that. Eventhough it has 97 chapters with extra atm, it is more than enough and in a perfect length. Every chapter is packed with plot

My only complaint is I need more of their side stories with the child 🥹 would be better if some ppl dare to kidnap/threaten their baby so the fathers will knock em with utmost slayage (this is just my wishful thinking haha) <<less
